On O’Reilly Factor Tonight–Causes Open Thread Opining

by Tammy on January 30, 2006 · 21 comments

As of this moment, and it can always change, I’m scheduled to be on the O’Reilly Factor this evening (around 25 past the hour) about the Joel “I Don’t Support the Troops” Stein column, and the non-reaction from Los Angeles/Hollywood.

Hope you can tune in.

This also means blogging will be light until early this evening, so please feel free to consider this your open thread for the day :)

UPDATE:

Stacy at BlogforBooks has been kind enough to post the video.

And remember, O’Reilly repeats at 8pm PT/11pm ET.

Kudos on the exposure. O’Reilly can be a blowhard, but he’s mostly an honest blowhard.

Plus he’s a highly watched blowhard, and given that you are discussing an area of agreement with him, most likely a very agreeable blowhard when you visit his program.

(can I say blowhard a few more times?)

Now as far as that Joel Stein fella. I was attacked for saying he said what the left believes, and had the usual diatribes posted on my blog.

But noone on the left has explained why their outrage has been over the outrage against Stein, and not over the original column itself.

Sounds like that’s the position you’ll be taking to some degree and since that’s how I feel on the subject I’ll have to agree with you whole heartedly.

Plus given that you’ve seen the ‘movement’ (or at least an aspect of the left from your vantage point atop the LA NOW chapter) from the inside you’ll be able to offer insights on O’Reilly that few other critics could.

And since this is an open thread, how ridiculous is a 5+1 bladed razor?

No one on the left is talking about Joel Stein because in a way he has exposed their being “for the troops but not the war” as the disengenuous ploy that it is.

Tell Bill I said hey :)

Looking forward to it, Tammy. Experiencing your common sense at work–especially in opposition to a myopic, malcontented ingrate–is a pleasant bonus to my day.

Thanks for the heads-up. Since I can’t get TammyRadio where I’m at (yet) I look forward to your in-person appearances. I hope O’Reilly has the restraint to let you talk.

Darn it!!! I am at work and will miss it, I’ll email my wonderful wife and let her know though, she has become a big Tammy fan in the last few months.

Still waiting patiently for a book signing in the Philly area…

Great appearance and I have the video and pictures on my site. It will be up shortly.

What a wonderful surprise to see you on O’Reilly tonight – super performance! It was nice that Bill allowed you get in a few words. I like the guy, and watch him every evening, but he does have a tendency to cut folks off. Great publicity for you……

Well…I’m reporting for you Stonemason (I’m Stonemason’s “wonderful wife”). Tammy was great as expected and Bill, well…let’s just say he liked to hear himself talk, as usual.

Tammy, you show great patience with him. I would find it rather difficult not to blatantly just say, “Would you please just shut up for a minute and let me finish??!!??”. I’m generally a pretty nice person…but he would test my last Southern sweet nerve.

Okay it is up, took some time to upload. The piece is almost 4 minutes so it will take a few moments to download.

After seeing yet again someone saying they “support the troops but not the war,” It’s time I said a word on the topic… ridiculous.
The military is an entity. You can not say you support an entity but not the entities mission. The entity is synonymous with its mission. The mission is war. That’s what our soldiers do, they war. You may be against the policies that put our soldiers there, or the man behind the policies, but your selfish imposing views are the furthest thing from support.
When our brave soldiers see you protesting in the streets, do you think they feel support? I would imagine they feel sadness at an America that trashes them and what they do.

It was great seeing Tammy on The Factor; I just wish Bill would have given her more time to speak. I like him, but he sometimes has a tendency to cut guests short to debate for debate’s sake. Nevertheless, it was great exposure for Tammy…on the most-watched cable news program!

Tammy,

You looked lovely as usual, but I wish I could have heard the end of your sentences. You showed patience and class, I would have probably yelled at him. I am actually an O’Reily fan but there are times when he should just shut up and listen. But anyway, good exposure for you and I wish Fox would give you your own show. Or maybe CNN would give you a time slot and then somebody would watch CNN.

Nice job on The Factor, Tammy. Wish you’d have had a more important topic though. Like, what’s happening on the border. Illuminating night in Scarborough Country.

Saw you on the Factor last night you looked “Fabulous” Tammy;

Bill doesn’t totally get it! Tammy.

Allowing you to talk for a few minutes would soildify his fan base, may gain him some new viewers and allow you to “anniliate” this STEIN freakazoid.

Your reasoned opinion of the LA Times choice to select this jerk to replace the previous columnist is a well placed thought.

You may have caught Billy Boy off guard after he opened the show slamming NBC. Can’t slam two conglomerates in the same show you know.

Smear on the “patronizing” butter with O’Reilly in your first statement gets you more face/talk time.

I missed the show (and the web link didn’t work) but I’ll try again later. I don’t like O’Reilly. It annoys the living hell out of me that he constantly cuts people off, never lets them finish a thought (pro OR con) and he comes across most of the time as a C.W.C. (Conservative When Convenient).

All too often, Bill just perpetuates the untrue stereotype of conservative-leaning folks being intolerant blowhards. I’ve found you can get a point across better when you’re not acting like a know-it-all jackass (the ‘more-files-with-honey-than-vineagar’ school of thought). Besides…we’re NOT intolerant! ;-)

If I ever went on his show for some reason, there’s no doubt that although I was blessed at birth with the patience of a saint, I’d eventually end up screaming something like, “WILL YOU JUST SHUT UP AND LET ME FINISH???”.

On an unrelated note, I *FINALLY* marched over to Barnes and Noble on 66th and Broadway in good ole NYC in search of Tammy’s new book. Naturally, they didn’t have a copy. Asking the salespeople was a REAL help. I had to answer the question, “what’s the author’s name again?” three seperate times. I gotta move away from here.

Guess it’s Amazon for me! :-)

Malignant narcissist watch: the folks at the delightful Cindy for Senate site are a little upset about the Alito confirmation – “If you are like me you cried your eyes out last night and screamed yourself hoarse.” Well, no, actually

>>”If you are like me you cried your eyes out last night and screamed yourself hoarse.”

Well, you can only say “YEAH” so many times before the throat gets a l’il scratchy.

Tammy:
Thanks for the photo of the lovely Dianna Rigg. I used to watch her as Emma Peel just to see her. She was an example of how to be sexy while fully clothed and without trying.
I hope that Bill O’Reilly reads this particular thread. He’s in the habit of cutting people off mostly due to time constraints. Most people will ramble if you let them. Ramble is something that you don’t do. I appreciate your laser focus and economy of expression. Frankly, I’d rather listen to you any day than to Bill O’Reilly—and I’m a fan. I’m afraid that Bill’s style is mostly about winning. I’ll be watching for you tonight on The O’Reilly Factor. I’m a premium member, and if he doesn’t let you talk, he’ll be hearing from me. You are always worth watching, listening to and reading. One of the very best.

I’d longtime wondered what “the sound” of you would be like TO SEE, IN THE MAKING… and O’Reilly’s show was my first opportunity. He was so dismissive and rude…
Yes. COME to Tennessee. I’ll be in the audience.
Edric
