Ahmadinejad’s likely reaction to the UN’s threat to send a letter and then continue to meet about Iran getting the bomb, and about how very, very bad that is
Yeah, Iran, or else we’ll, we’ll, uh, just a minute, I have to check about what we’ll do…I know it’s in here somewhere. It’s very serious, too, so you better listen. Just…one…second. Yes, here it is. Okay, so, You better stop that uranium enrichment Iran or we here at the UN, we’ll, uh, meet again apparently and then talk about what it is we’ll do. Then you’ll be scared!
But you have only 30 days, got it? 30 days, Mister Mullah, to stop trying to get the bomb. Yeah. Because after that, well, you just don’t want to know what we’ll do. You better believe, mister, how much trouble you’ll be in. I swear, all 5 of the Big 5 agree on this. In a way. Sort of. But no one’s really quite sure.
U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said Wednesday’s statement — issued a day ahead of a meeting of the council’s veto-wielding permanent members and Germany in Berlin — sends “a very clear message” that Iran should meet its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
“There’s no ambiguity here,” Bolton said. “We’re waiting for the Iranians to do what they said they were going to do and violated, and the obligations that they undertook by being a member of the IAEA.”
Yeah, that’s right. We’re waiting. And we’ll be waiting it seems for quite some time because there’s no statement in the statement about having a statement and a strongly worded letter about what the consequences would be if Iran doesn’t capitulate to the statement of the Dreaded Strongly Worded “You better stop it right now!” Letter.
Yeah.

Bangkok Post: UN Gives 30-Day Ultimatum to Iran
My my , all these strong messages must surely have Iran shaking in their shoes. And the thirty days or else ! That photo of Ahmadinejad must have been taken after the 59th warning to stop it or else because he looks frightened. I also love the comment by Russian foreign minister Lavov saying any ideas involving the use of force or pressure cannot be supported. Mabye if we say “pretty please, with sugar on top ?”
I understand if Iran does not start behaving, they’re going to have to take a “time out”.
Would it be safe to say that Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will make the top ten biggest fools of the 21 century ?
I completely disagree with the idea that the Iranian president will be on of the top ten fools of the century. Obviously this man is crazy like a fox, he is making fools out of us, not the other way around. He is playing the entire planet against itself to get what he wants, and focusing domestic disatisfaction outwards to the US and Israel. He is in a win-win situation right now, and I don’t see anything on the immediate horizon that is going to change that.
Agreed. Let me narrow the scope, who’s the bigger fool Ahmadinejad or Saddam?
It appears that Saddam had surrounded himslef by so many yes men that he was becoming seriously disconnected from reality. Time will tell if Ahmadinejad is in the same situation and getting lucky so far, or if he is brilliantly connected to what is really going on and just walking a think line. We are really only beginning to understand Saddams thought processes recently as all of these documents are beginning to be translated.
It must gall Bolton to have to give that statement.
