On my way to Fox for my usual Monday morning appearance, which will be at 10:30am ET (7:30am PT) this morning, which is a little later than what we’re used to. The subject will center around reports that the president is indeed planning to strike Iran, so as not to leave it to the next president. I hope you can tune in.
I noted on Tammy Radio Saturday exactly this, and that I hope he does strike Iran. He is the only person out there who has the courage to do the right thing in this instance. No matter what we think of the variety of his positions, even when we think he’s wrong on an issue such as immigration, you have to respect him as a man who does what he thinks is right. Now, that doesn’t mean he is wrong on occasion, but this approach creates certainty in my mind that he will strike Iran.
I think this will be a bombing campaign only, and will take place before this year’s elections. Why? In addition to stopping an insane genocidal regime, no matter how hawkish someone like Hillary likes to portray herself, it will be an act that will once again expose the Left for what it really is–defeatist cowards who no longer have the fortitude to do what is right for this nation. They have not and never will root for the USA to win. Ultimately it’s because they truly relate to the enemy within their victimhood and self-loathing which translates to hate for this nation.
Also, the president must strike as soon as possible. The longer he waits the more time those defeatists have, with the help of the MSM, to negatively affect the morale of us here at home and of the troops. This “There’s-Nothing-We-Can-Do” Chicken Little rhetoric meant to infect you with hopelessness is already emerging, with examples here and here. And make no mistake–you’re also seeing the Left’s strategy with the parading out of the “Rumsfeld-Must-Resign” contingent of Clinton-appointed generals. This attack on our military infrastructure is meant to debilitate our command structure and immobilize our troops.
We saw what this moral vapidity and general cowardice of the Left did to our nation during Vietnam. In addition to pushing us to failure, the American left also condemned the people of Vietnam to a pathetic Communist existence which began with mass murder and exists today only because of continued oppression.
We know what the Left’s legacy has been when for the last 50 years. So does the president–and I believe he won’t let that rot control the choices he makes when it comes to dealing with the deadly virus of Iran’s terrorist regime.
I don’t know Tammy, the 24/7 screaming of the MSM may have succeeded in taking this off the table. Was there ever a time so dire when protecting the country was second to scoring cheap political points?
Saw you on Fox this morning and you were fantastic as usual. Thank you for asserting yourself there at the end and getting your point in before they cut you off. I say we start bombing today. How about right now ? vas-y !
“He is the only person out there who has the courage to do the right thing in this instance.”
How are you so sure this is the right thing, especially at this point?
“I think this will be a bombing campaign only, and will take place before this year’s elections. Why? So no matter how hawkish someone like Hillary likes to portray herself, it will be an act that will once again expose the Left for what it really is–defeatist cowards who no longer have the fortitude to do what is right for this nation.”
So it’s the “right” thing to attack Iran before the elections so that Hillary will be seen as a coward? Yuo’re suggesting the timing of a military attack should be based on political decisions rather than sound tacitics?
[Ms. Bruce usually doesn't need to spoon-feed her readers with the obvious, but you're a newbie and a lefty, so she's updated her post with the Statement of the Obvious for those of you who are stuck on the rhetorical short bus.--ed].
“Ultimately, they have not been and never will root for the USA to win. Ultimately it’s because they truly relate to the enemy within their victimhood and self-loathing which translates to hate for this nation.”
This is simply your attempt to villify those who hold different views. The “Liberals hate America” speech. Only paranoids buy this argument, and not even all of them. And I have no idea what “the enemy within their victimhood and self-loathing” means, except that you are trying to build a “liberals=terrorists” argument out of whole cloth.
“We saw what this moral vapidity and general cowardice of the Left did to our nation during Vietnam.”
And the new theme, since Iraq is heading toward disaster, is to blame the liberals, not Rumsfeld’s poor strategies or a general misunderstanding of the situation. It wasn’t liberals who thought we would be greeted as liberators. It wasn’t liberals who went to war without an exit strategy. But in your mind, it will be the left’s fault because they did not believe in the war and spoke out–in ultimately patriotic ways–about poor policy, poor decisions and poor leadership.
Tammy, you were great this morning! You flummoxed the guy who argued to leave Iran alone because with their “there’s a will there’s a way” determination, they will get nuclear weapons no matter what. Your response? How ’bout America’s “there’s a will there’s a way” determination to defeat their effort?!!
You could see the awareness of your superior argument cross the guy’s face, the way his face fell, like a window sash crashing down, God it was beautiful!!
Throatwobbler: Our troops WERE greeted as liberators. The media chose not to show that even though it occurred all over Iraq with regularity. The media would also have you believe the troops hate being there and want to come home and have terrible morale; sure, it’s not a lot of fun being away from your family for months at a time, but our guys know that the people in Iraq generally are greatly benefitting from our troops being there, and our troops want to make sure they leave only when the country is ready to govern and police itself.
I was over there – not on the ground, but on a ship in the Gulf – from April through September 2003, and I was proud to be there. I was proud to be a member of the U.S. Navy for 20 years. I almost gave it up, though, when Clinton was abusing and mis-using the military and I spent 6 months in Bosnia on a mission to stop a bunch of people who ALL were involved in the attempted “ethnic cleansing” of each other, and whose country had far less to do with U.S. national interests than Iraq has.
LNTHOMP,
I agree that the troops received positive response at first, and the media did report it, but Rumsfeld, et al believed that there would be no resistance, or a minimal six-months insurgency. He was wrong and the mistake has cost the lives of American soldiers, my countrymen whom I repsect and mourn.
I agree that many in the armed services support the mission. I disagree with their position, but I do not say they hate America, which is what Ms. Bruce says about the left.
