Pirate Kitty came running in (well, as much as a kitty can run with a peg leg), beside himself with incredible Pirate news to share. PK had become sullen when all he could usually report to you was the news of the evil Islamists pretending to be pirates off the African coast. But now, thank goodness, the winds have changed for our little Pirate friend.

PK, with a little tip o’ the Pirate hat to reader/commenter/PK Minion Tink, is thrilled to share this piece of honest-to-goodness Real Pirate News.

Cannon from alleged Blackbeard ship planned for brief display

(ATLANTIC BEACH, North Carolina) – Underwater archaeologists plan to raise a cannon Wednesday from what’s presumed to be the pirate Blackbeard’s sunken flagship and put it on display, but only for an hour.

“If you don’t see it then, you won’t see it for awhile,” said Mark Wilde-Ramsing, project director for the Queen Anne’s Revenge Project. The public can get a glimpse of the cannon from noon to 1 p.m. at Fort Macon State Park…

Wilde-Ramsing said typically such artifacts would be wrapped up and put back into water, but he believes it’s important for the public to see how the cannon looks right after it comes up from the sea.

One hour. One little, tiny hour, but that’s better than nothing. Blackbeard’s cat is Pirate Kitty’s hero. I had no idea that Blackbeard had a cat, but PK insists, so I believe him. PK has asked to travel to see the cannon, but he knows that’s impossible. I’ve explained that a Sharp Peg Leg attached to a Pirate Kitty is still on the list of Banned Items from airplanes.

He understands, but will follow the story from his cabin, and will let all of you know of any developments.

Leetle Keety, PK’s sidekick, also says “hello” and reveals this is the most excitement he has ever experienced in his entire life. Which, well, has been only a few months long, but there you have it.

Appropos of this thread, I would like to point out that I have found a source of (among other questionable contraband) pirate food.

I can’t believe the TSA won’t let Pirate Kitty on the plane because of her peg leg. She should sue, citing the Pirate Disabilities Act of 1724. I’m sure Leetle Kitty would be willing to tesitfy in court that Pirate Kitty long ago laid down her sword and is not a serious threat.

Horse– Did you get the large or small booty? :o ) They really should offer a medium sized booty.

This post is dedciated to our good friend Debbie Schlussel.

Tink, the question of the relative merits of the large versus the small booty is a most essential one, but perhaps more appropriate to be discussed under a “babe of the week” banner. There is certainly some room for flexibility in such matters, but I’ll state my unequivocal support and encouragement of Tammy’s diet.

As a former RADIO pirate, I defend Pirate Kitty’s honor. Make way, knaves! ;-)
