And the English Think We're Vulgar

With news like this, it seems to be a case of Pot Meet Kettle.

It's all bad. Nothing good comes from pornography. People can look at whatever they want and that's their business. Just my opinion but people who patronize porn are depraved and part of the problem. If there were no demand there would be no supply. Just this girls opinion.

You may find this activity distasteful, but it's also essential. If the postal workers stopped reading porn, then the mail wouldn't come.

What was the article about?

Once I got to the Sun's website, I couldn't help myself and clicked over on the Page 3 link (NSFW, sort of, in an ironic way, given the nature of the post)

And sorry, I can't get all Andrea Dworkin about pornography.

Adults in the privacy of their own homes, watching other adults, in any combination of genders and orientations, is OK by me, but the folks mentioned in the link weren't in private, so definitely inappropriate work conduct.

(Also I wonder if this site or LGF would be defined as a racist or hate site (the other transgressions mentioned in the story) by the British government, after all Ms. Bruce has said bad things about some followers of Islam, and she posted those cartoons)

[On the main blog in the post, I've included a link to the original article about British opinions of Americans--ed.]

Unfortunately many Brits (I’ll extend the ‘English’ to include The Welsh and Scots – they are very sensitive) do think Americans vulgar. But let me try and explain why this is so.

Firstly, despite the so called ‘Cultural Revolution’ and the apparent rise of the egalitarian society, Britain like all other civilisations, is controlled by a social elite. The British elite today espouse such noble notions as ‘equality for all’ and ‘tolerance and understanding’ – which coats the ‘anything goes’ approach of the baby boomer generation now controlling our institutions.

For example the BBC (the state broadcaster with 8 TV channels and countless radio stations) and the British Comprehensive Secondary Education system (mainstream schooling for 11-16yrs) are by and large delivered from a left wing perspective. Do Britons – from cradle to grave - get a clear unbiased view on the world? NO!

When Bush attacked Iraq the seeds were sown for an international hate campaign against America. Whilst many of the British ‘Old school’ (the pre- baby boomer, pre- egalitarian gentlemen) saw clear practical and logistical reasoning against the war (much of their reasoning is now clear), the left only saw Big Bad America playing the tyrant.

Of course the British elite were unable to fathom that Blair was a full partner in this struggle and hence cast him as the poodle, hence shredding British culpability in the affair. (Blair is the leader of the major left wing party of the UK: now do you understand why the British left is so confused?) So Bush has become the default butt of the world joke at the BBC et al and America has been pulled down with him. After all – how dare Americans re-elect Bush!
(Britain still hasn’t worked out that it re-elected Blair after Iraq...)

Secondly, much of what Britain understands America to be - is like the rest of the world - derived from much of the trash that pours out of the American entertainment industry. Media wise there is of course much that America can be proud of, yet mud sticks. America delivers the best and worst in entertainment and sadly Britons envisage Americans to be like Michael Moore yet fatter, clutching a bible and wondering what the point of the rest of the world is. Yes Americans are insular, obese and wear bad hats.

So Britain is innocent, gifted and wise. DREAM ON. Britain is collapsing from within. Please America, understand that whilst Blair may be you war hero, he has led the most corrupt and devastating regime in the UK. His administration has institutionalised political correctness and has actively encouraged the emergence of an Islamist sub-culture.

There are probably postmen in the USA getting off on porn right now. That really isn’t the issue. But if Britain demonises America and thinks you all vulgar, it is because she can no longer look in the mirror.
