Profiling is not the silver bullet that everyone is howling for. First of all the terrorists are not stupid, if they see we are only looking at Arab type men don't you think it is possible they could recruit some caucasian looking types? After all wasn't there an American (caucasian) who was arrested on the battlefield in Afghanistan? Yes. And is it possible they could recruit some "granny" looking types to carry onboard material used to blowup the plane? Yes. DUH. The bottom line is that we need to screen just about everyone that comes onboard a plane to ensure our safety.

Should the Government profile would be terrorists in order to avert another 9-11 type disaster? Absolutely! But the question is, can it be done without the ACLU blocking it in court?

The NSA “wire tap” program just got dealt a setback by Federal Judge Anna Diggs Taylor, a Carter appointment BTW. Ah malaise, the gift that keeps on giving. When is the ACLU and their enablers in black robes going to get it thru their thick heads that it is not our civil rights that are under attack, but our right to life.

Memo to the ACLU: Is the right to not be killed by Islamic madmen stupid!

In society, Profiling is a strategy used by those in the profession of protecting civilians. If we remove a component that helps them better do their job, we are compromising our own safety. Personally I would much rather we err on the side of caution. If someone who fits the terrorist profile is checked out and a few feathers are rustled, so be it. If it happens to be me, oh well, I have nothing to hide and I'll be on my way. I understand what it is we are dealing with, and that it is for my own safety, as well as the safety of others - and that it's not a 'Big Brother' thing. My God people (not directed at anyone here, people here seem to have full, correctly functioning brains).

Why can't we take like a 10000 people poll, rather than leave it to some twisted judge who claims to be speaking for the people?

Anyone who flys should know the drill by now...a few years back I flew from San Diego to Las Vegas and had to take off my boots and empty my purse...I too am white, blonde and not so skinny any more!! Although it was a pain in the rear to subject myself to the search, I knew it was for my own safety and for the others on the flight as well...times have changed just in the last 6 months, heck just in the last 6 weeks. If you don't pack differently to get on a plane then don't complain about the search...people will complain about the wait, and then their surviving relatives will complain when the plane and their loved ones are blown to pieces...

The last time I flew (2 years ago)it was out of San Antonio. I was pulled out of line at the boarding gate and asked to remove my lip balm from my pocket. Security seemed most interested in the jar lid which they visually inspected and wanded repeatedly. I'm a white, auburn haired, green eyed, skinny chick.

My uncle had to remove his belt and they repeatedly wanded his rodeo belt buckle. I thought we might be arrested or something. Finally, released with flight delayed 30 minutes.

I felt so bad. Upset. I sippled red wine all the way to Houston. Luckily a short flight so I got off in good shape. :) Haven't flown since. I'd rather drive.
