Katie Couric Gets Faux Thin

Using a remarkable new technology called "photoshop." Hot Air has the details, including the fauxtographic evidence.

This is a good example, however, of what you should be on the lookout for when it comes to Couric--if you can't trust her to be honest about her own image, how can you trust her with the news?

[Read More]

I don't understand why Couric gets the attention she does...her interviews with people are quite boring...they go in the catagory of Barbara Walters famous question "If you could be a tree, which one would you be?" with that impending doom tone to her voice...I think I have tried to watch her a total of three times, which was three times too many...

Like Rather (and Hume and Brokaw and my local guy on Channel 7), Couric is a newsreader.

Let's not read anything into her about being a journalist, who rarely (if ever) get to be on the news.

Actresses hate HDTV, because it really shows all the flaws they have. I am sure television anchors feel the same way.

Personally, I don't care if Ms Couric is skinny or plump, as long as she delivers the news honestly and without bias...

...FAT CHANCE!!

Katie is "perky" and cute but she will not save CBS. People like Dan Blather killed CBS. They have no credibility, period. Nobody watches the CBS news except a few diehard lefties and friends and family of CBS. I guess Katie has to maintain her perky image, for what it's worth. That goes to show you what CBS is concerned about. I've grown to expect nothing more from these stooges.

I guess this is a classic illustration (pun intended) of malignant narcissism in all of it’s glory. Too bad it wasn’t available for the book. It seems that Katie not only gets the admiring eye of those that think the photo is real, but she also receives much attention from those who have spend the time to prove it fake. For a narcissist, this must be heaven. Perhaps she and John Mark Karr can share tips.

Not to change the subject, but why all the uproar about this Fauxtography, while the MSM clearly overlooked more egregious fauxtography involving doctored photos in the Middle East conflict and uproar associated with this that was built on false pretext. The MSM better get at this issue real quick because nothing will strike faster at any remaining credibility they may have than if there are serious doubts about what they are showing us. I have plenty of doubts now with the MSM, period. Perhaps they should just be put out of business, LOL.

Katie's just following in the footsteps of those other Great Arbiters of Truth: Cronkite, Rather, Schieffer et al. I never trusted any of them, but amazingly they keep going, like evil Energizer Bunnies, with the help of gullible Americans.

Speaking of Cronkite, it amazes me that people still buy the cant about him being "The Most Trusted Man in America." He helped America snatch defeat from the jaws of victory during the Vietnam War, by encouraging defeatism around the same time that we had almost completely destroyed the Viet Cong during Tet. And he has recently spouted conspiratorial garbage about American foreign policy.

And as WK suggests, why isn't the MSM doing their great investigative reporting on all these fake Middle Eastern photos and bogus massacres? It can't be because they have an agenda, can it?!

As several have said, CBS lost all credibility back in the '60s and don't even want to get it back. They want to maintain their reputation as bastion of liberals, the network of "news is all glitz and glamour, the truth doesn't matter."
Katie is "perky"! Perky? define perky? I don't see anything I might think of as perky. Unless perky is another word for airhead.

I've seen the Katie commercial for her new anchor position these past few days. I did notice that she seems to have lost the "baby fat" in her face. When did her cheeks go hollow? Anyway, she is telling us in this ad that not only is she going to tell us the news but she is also going to tell us how this news affects us. She thinks this is important, don't we? Please, my 14 year old daughter can see through this B.S. Is Katie going to be directing us on what we should also "think" about the news she is going to spoonfeed us?

Posted by: MyKidsMom [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 31, 2006 10:40 AM

I read that the touch-up was done by the photography department, and that neither Katie nor any CBS execs knew about it until too late.

Could be an excuse after the fact, but either way, who really cares? If Americans stopped paying so much attention to these inane details about celebrities, we might have more time to spend thinking about things that actually matter. ;-)

[Which is why, I guess, you took the time to comment on this post in particular because it's so irrelevant? ;-) --ed.]
