President Bush Renames the Enemy "Folks"

Most of us were thrilled when President Bush, responding to the UK Terror in the Sky plot, actually referred to the enemy as, well, what they are--Islamic Fascists.

Well, that made the Saudis, those Freakish Controlling Islamist Dictators, upset as they "warned" against our continuing to call the enemy what they are. After their not-so-veiled threat to stop helping with the WoT, President Bush bowed and obeyed.

At a press conference today, as he was just about to refer to the Islamist Fascists with whom we're at war, he hesitated for a moment, and summarily UnNamed the Enemy by calling them "[A]n extremist group of folks." Folks. Lovely.

He said the United States was engaged "in a war against a extremist group of folks, bound together by an ideology, willing to use terrorism to achieve their objectives [and who love their cocker spaniels too much]" He spoke as police in London announced another arrest in the alleged London airliner bomb plot.

For crying out loud, how many more euphemisms do we need to use to simply allude to the enemy, without actually naming them?

Why any non-terrorist Muslim would be upset at our calling the enemy what they are is beyond me. After all, if you're not Islamist Fascists then we're not talking about you, are we?

Ohhh, now I understand. The Saudis are taking it personally.

Interesting read, Tammy. I understand what you are saying, and tend to agree with where you are coming from.

However, if there is anything at all that the President is going to do "a dance around the issue", I would rather it be the wording he chooses in a press brief as opposed to his actual stance on fighting terrorism.

As important as words are, the actions of a person still speak louder. The overly sensitive enemy and those who take issue with comments made should be just as....no, more concerned with the actions that have been wrought in whatever name you want to give these people.

I'm sure this is an incorrect transcription of the President's remarks. I'm hoping he used another five letter word that is phonetically similar to describe them. :)

I really don't see the big deal on what we name these thugs. There is a lot of names which we can call them (some of which I would probably be kicked off this website if I used) but why should we use a name that offended our friends in the Middle East (like Saudi Arabia). We need all the friends we can get in the Middle East to counter balance the growing power of Iran. This is exactly what the terrrorists want to do, drive a wedge between us and people like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt. We need them in this war on terrorism and they need us to blunt the growing danger of Iran. It just makes common sense to me that if we can do some little thing like this to support our "friends" in the Middle East that we should should do it.

Why is Bush backing away from naming the enemy should be of a surprise to anyone? Bush has made claims that we are on a Global War on Terror but under pressure from the Islamo fascist enablers at the UN we make Israel back away from finishing the job.

The war is not against Terrorism, we are not fighting the IRA or ETA, we are in a fight for our lives against Radical Islam. But the rules of political correctness dictates that we are not allowed to say that. So we keep getting mired in a sea of murky terminology and unclear goals. Something the MSM and the Democrats are quick to take advantage off by distancing the War in Iraq from the fight against the Islamo fascists. No wonder Americans have turned against the war.

It is kind of like labeling a deranged person who shots a doctor at an abortion clinic a fundalist "CHRISTIAN" fanatic. Emphisis christian. Is it bad to be a christian. Almost every pimp in the United States is an African American. It is bad to take 13 year old run aways from a Grayhound station and turn them into drug addicted prostitutes. That does not mean it is bad to be African American. I am one of your most concervative blogers. But even I see a little room for sencivity.

The term is fitting, however, I think in his position I think we can ll agree he has to be careful with terminology. Personally I see nothing wrong with keeping in 'radical muslim extremists'.

But, what would you call the hundreds at the recent 'Muslim Religion of Peace Demonstration' in Europe? If you haven't already, yahoo that term. It's very disturbing. I know I keep mentioning this, but I just can't believe it. I'm thinking perhaps lots of comments about it might be therapy for me ;) I mean free speech is one thing, but I think that crosses a line. And hmmmm, I don't understand why coverage didn't make onto CNN.

******* My apologies ********

After further review I found out some information about the "Religion of Peace" demonstration which I have been referencing. It seems it was not a recent event, the photos were from an area in Denmark after the anti-muslim cartoon incident. So, I admit it, I bought into the hype. All things considered though - the photos are authentic, and they are still quite chilling.

A president who doesn't call the enemy by its real name can't expect people to follow him. Those who object to the term "Islamic fascists" are not being "overly sensitive", they are being ACLU, in your face, obnoxiously aggresive. They are trying to get the people of this country to be unable to identify the enemy.

Posted by: St. Thor [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 15, 2006 09:11 PM

Folks....how can the President of this country call these monsters "folks"? I just got finished watching the History Channel special on Rick Rescorla, the guy who got almost all of the Morgan Stanley "folks" (they are folks, not the terrorists) out of the WTC on 9/11, but lost his own life. My God, how can we forget, how can our "leaders" forget what happened that day? We cannot allow ourselves or our leaders lose focus on who the enemy is, islamic facism.

Having said that, I can barely watch video of that day without my heart breaking and being outraged at the same time. But reliving it by watching the specials is all I can do to honor the memory of those victims. And elect politicians, if there are any, that are committed to winning the terror war.

I'm disappointed with pretty much all the republicans at this point, George, Condi, the House the Senate, the whole lot of them because they seem more interested in kissing the terrorists' butts than in putting an end to terror. I hate to say that because I would have loved a Condi run in '08. I even posted on her web site when she was named SoS. I am withholding judgement on Newt because he seems to be the only one with a clue, but that could change too.

That's my rant for tonight. I'd just like to see someone out there who is really serious about fighting this war. One last thought for tonight. I feel like Washington did a PATHETIC job of "supporting" Israel in this latest outbreak with Hizbolla. How in the name of God could our leadership have agreed to and encourage Israel to accept the terms of this cease-fire? Could someone please enlighten me? I'm clueless and angry.

What message is sent to our troops and their families - not to mention the rest of the free world - when the Commander-in-Chief refers to our mortal enemy, who has vowed to annihilate us, as an '...extremist group of folks'? In his quest to appease the Saudis, the president has diminished the harsh reality of the colossal threat we face.

Why tread softly with our language? I have yet to see President Bush demand an apology or the Saudi royals intercede on our behalf demanding Islamic Fascists soften their speech when 'Great Satan', 'infidels', 'pigs', etc. are used to describe us. We're not dealing with ordinary folks; we're dealing with a belief system rooted in fascism and adopted by those who are intent on bringing about our demise.

There is absolutely much that bothers me about the President not being forceful in word and deed at critical times. The idea that we have to 'make nice' with the Saudis is sickening. Make no mistake: this is the same Saudi government that imprisons and tortures those (including guest workers & visitors) who do not practice their state-imposed religion; the same Saudis who insulted over 3,000 slain Americans in the days after 9/11 when daring to refer to our position in The Middle East as a basis for our nation's loss (Thank God Rudy Guiliani had the guts to stand up to them); the same Saudis who promote and finance Wahhabism - the radical, violent form of Islam terrorizing the globe today. No - Saudi Arabia is not an innocent bystander in all of this.

Funny how so much attention has been focused on Hezbollah's ties to Iran and Syria, yet absolutely no mention of Hamas' ties to Saudi Arabia. Looks like we have forgotten that 15 of the 19 September 11 Islamist fascists were of Saudi descent, too. But then again, all we're dealing is an 'extremist group of folks'.

They just sound a little misguided, that's all. Not at all like the sword-wielding monsters beheading civilians, raping and pillaging the globe, blowing up restaurants and buses, threatening non-terrorist Muslims, ramming planes into buildings, slaughtering millions, threatening the existence of Jews and ANYONE who will not subscribe or submit.

Boy, I guess you really told 'em, Mr. President!

Wanted Dead or Alive... Obviously, our friends in the White House don't have what it takes to win this war. Any suggestion on taking some matters into our own hands?

I don't know what happened to the little thumbnail of a GI Joe encouraging the Liberal Scumbags to Root for America.

I was driving down a billboard packed urban interstate in Chicago today, and thought that we Folks should put something patriotic up on a billboard for tens of thousands of people to see daily, and reflect upon the fact that we are at war v. a prostration to a religion of peace.

Let's do it folks!

Yep, the world has officially gone insane as the result of political correctness being shoved down our throats as a means of intimidation and fear. "Folks" Well, let's all get invite these "folks" over for Thanksgiving Day dinner. We can talk about how the kids our doing in school, or perhaps we can discuss how cold it is outside. Better yet, just maybe we can talk about the good old days when it was not fashionable to chop the heads off of infidels, or fly planes into buildings, or put explosives in an infants bottle in order to send the child to paradise with 99 virgins. Bring on the turkey!

Posted by: Gettysburg [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 16, 2006 08:49 AM

I didn't see or hear the telecast, but, do you think Bush could have possibly wanted to use the other "f" word but couldn't?(!!!!) or am I forever optimistic that any of our leaders really have the guts to eliminate evil from this world? Is there a democrat out there that could do a better job? seriously, I would like to know before this next election. Who's gonna clean up this mess? please don't anyone suggest Hillary...
