Quotes to Define the Era

A post by Maynard

What the relevant Mid-East despots are saying:

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah:

  • "If Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide."
  • "Jews invented the legend of the Holocaust."

Mahmoud al-Zahar, co-founder of Hamas and current foreign minister of the Hamas-controlled government:

  • "We are entering [parliament] to eliminate any traces of Oslo."
  • "I hope that our dream to have our independent state on all historic Palestine will become real one day. I'm certain of this because there is no place for the state of Israel on this land."
  • "Are these the laws for which the Palestinian street is waiting? For us to give rights to homosexuals and to lesbians, a minority of perverts and the mentally and morally sick?"

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad:

  • Speaking at a Tehran conference on the subject of "The World without Zionism": "The establishment of the Zionist regime was a move by the world oppressor against the Islamic world...The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land...As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map."
  • "The fact is that Israel can ultimately not continue its existence."
  • "We ask the West to remove what they created sixty years ago and if they do not listen to our recommendations, then the Palestinian nation and other nations will eventually do this for them. Do the removal of Israel before it is too late and save yourself from the fury of regional nations."
  • "The real Holocaust is what is happening in Palestine where the Zionists avail themselves of the fairy tale of Holocaust as blackmail and justification for killing children and women and making innocent people homeless."
  • "Israel is a rotten, dried tree that will be annihilated in one storm."

What our leaders are saying:

Jimmy Carter:

  • "It is inarguable that Israel has a right to defend itself against attacks on its citizens, but it is inhumane and counterproductive to punish civilian populations in the illogical hope that somehow they will blame Hamas and Hezbollah for provoking the devastating response. The result instead has been that broad Arab and worldwide support has been rallied for these groups, while condemnation of both Israel and the United States has intensified...There will be no substantive and permanent peace for any peoples in this troubled region as long as Israel is violating key U.N. resolutions, official American policy and the international 'road map' for peace by occupying Arab lands and oppressing the Palestinians." (If you're a masochist, check out the the entirety of Jimmy Carter's editorial statement.)

George Bush:

  • "See the irony is what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this sh*t and it's over."

I could almost see Jimmy Carter having a point if he were speaking in purely pragmatic terms. That is, if his tone was to the effect of, "This stinks, but all the pathways stink, so here's what we gotta do to minimize the damages." What is deeply disturbing is that people like Carter set out their arguments in a moral framework. How can any decent, informed person deny that Israel holds the moral high ground? Isn't it obvious that the central driving force behind the entirety of this conflict is the desire to obliterate Israel and cleanse the region, and indeed the world, of Jews?

It's ironic that George Bush's simple, inarticulate vulgarity captures the essence of the situation in a way that the Leftist elites struggle to obfuscate. I am grateful to have a President who has a grasp of the obvious facts that seem elusive to so many academics. Perhaps this is why Bush is hated: Not because the haters think he is wrong, but because at some subconscious level they know he is right.

As always, the question remains: What exactly are we supposed to do? I'll leave that question as an exercise to the reader. My main goal here is only to reinforce our moral clarity. We will make practical compromises and yield to evil at times because we must, but let's not compound our imperfections by proclaiming that our unavoidable concessions are good.

If seeing is believing, then perhaps it would be helpful to visit the following site: www.obsessionthemovie.com.

'Obsession' will begin running August 17 in select areas (check the 'Events' section for details). It is a MUST SEE for ANYONE who is concerned about what Islamic Fascists have in store for Israel, the US and, ultimately, the world - and I can guarantee there is no diplomacy involved, honoring of UN Resolutions or a peace-keeping farce.

And with so much going on in the world that warrants our concern, determination and action, Jimmy Carter still finds himself relevant.

Though infuriating, it is not surprising what Carter stated; after all, this is the man who enabled Ayatollah Khomenhi and the era of modern-day terrorism through his abandonment of the Shah - and the people - of Iran. So it should be no surprise that Jimmy Carter would blame Israel for casualties and suffering Hamas and Hezbollah are solely responsible for.

As in his miserable failed presidency, Carter would rather enable our enemies than protect our friends.

Well, Carter's first sentence and a half is true, then it gets logically and morally twisted.

I too wonder why the world does not see the threat of Islamic extremism. While I think Michael Savage goes a bit too far on the right sometimes, I think his notion that with the muslim religion we are facing a form of 'religious imperialism' (the extremist's viewpoint (and actions) clearly indicate this, yet the world for some reason refuses to see it). In all seriousness, it's akin to nazzism, only under the cloak of religion (as this blog topic shows)

What can we do?

Can we make flyers of Tammy's blog and hand them out to thousands of people? That may work :)

Well...

1) Definitely not let them get nuclear capabilities (granted, this may throw us into another war)
2) Continue our proactive stance on terrorism (keep Bush aand the likes of him in there).
3) Continue to try to get the international community involved with governing Israel-Paliatinian issues - (so that they'll eventually be forced to see the evil (that's why I like the current UN resolution and increased presence there)
4) Try to grow Christianity over there as much as possible (longshot I know, but there have been stories of people all over the world who converted via missionaries and things like seeing the 'Jesus Film').
5) Pray their are more right minded people in the world than liberal leftists.
