The Return of Operation Bojinka

Ramzi_yousef.jpg

The Ramzi Yousef Legacy

We know that al-Qaida and Islamic Fascists in general pick targets and strategies that they like to return to. One of the very first major al-Qaida operations after the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993 was the 1994 plot of al-Qaida via Ramzi Yousef, to first, murder Pope John Paul II and then to blow up multiple airliners while in flight. Known as Operation Bojinka which means alternately in Arabic either chaos or explosion. It is a plot that has been resurrected in the form of today's massive terror plot out of the UK. No one should be surprised by these events.

And please, if I hear one more official talking head bemoaning how "sophisticated" this is, and how much it's taking law enforcement by surprise, my head is going to explode. All of this was designed over a decade ago. For crying out loud.

Consider how Ramzi and other savages were planning on constructing bombs while in flight. It's all eerily similar to what seems to be emerging as the plot out of the UK:

In 1994, Yousef and Khalid Sheik Mohammed started testing airport security...The two had already converted fourteen bottles of contact lens solution into bottles containing nitroglycerin, which was readily available in the Philippines. Yousef taped a metal rod to the arch of his of foot in place of the detonators...

The Bomb

The "Mark II" "microbombs" had Casio digital watches as the timers, stabilizers that looked like cotton wool balls, and an undetectable nitroglycerin as the explosive. Other ingredients included glycerin, nitrate, sulfuric acid, and minute concentrations of nitrobenzene, silver azide (silver trinitride), and liquid acetone. Two 9-volt batteries in each bomb were used as a power source. The batteries would be connected to light bulb filaments that would detonate the bomb. Murad and Yousef wired an SCR as the switch to trigger the filaments to detonate the bomb. There was an external socket hidden when the wires were pushed under the watch base as the bomber would wear it. The alteration was so small that the watch could still be worn in a normal manner. [1] [13] [17]

The fact that the world is only now responding to this, after a plot had moved into advanced stages, should be unacceptable to all of us. Our refusal to implement actual security measures, the ultimate would be banning Muslims from all flights, is an indication that we are still vulnerable to Death by Political Correctness. Let's hope it doesn't take an attack bigger than 9-11 to wake up the world.

I just watched LA mayor Villaraigosa's news conference at LAX. And I must tell you that I was NOT impressed. On at least 3 occasions, he said things I had a hard time understanding. At one point he was grasping for the word "vigilence" and came close, but invented a new word that I sort of understood but never had heard of before.

I know the guy is a rookie mayor, but he looks like he's in the deep end of the pool without his "floaties."

How the liberal left and others in the western world - after things like the embassy bombings, 9/11, etc., etc., and hearing of these plots to *deliberately* kill mass number of *innocent* people (known as 'soft targets') - can still view the US and Bush as the bad guy is purely disturbing to the laws of logic and reason.

These kinds of plots are not new, and these islamic extremists have no other purpose in life but to continue until they succeed in destroying the supporters of zionism (this is not exaggerated media hype, they've actually literally stated this!). You would think you would see those on the side of civilization uniting against this kind of evil, why we don't is beyond me.

But getting back to the original topic... and then we have instances where the liberal leftists and civil liberties organizations fight against things that aim to protect us, like profiling and wiretapping of international calls with links to terrorism, combined with their feeling that Nationalisim (in free society mind you) is a bad thing. And then the media spinning the news in any way they can to make the current administration look bad... What was that saying -something like.. "Great nations are not destroyed by some outside force, they are destroyed from within". Islamofacism is the outside force, but the inability to unite against it just makes it a bigger threat.

Conn-Bruce:
You should not be suprised by Villaraigosa's lack of attention to this issue. He is by choice not the mayor of an American city. His camapign retoric was the final straw in my leaving L. A. "I will represent all the groups that make up L. A. the Hispanic, Black, Oriental, and Native Americans." What about us Whites. Those who didn't get the hint and stayed, good luck to you.
As for the rest of us and this threat, we have to keep an eye out for what Savage calls the enemy whith in, because they will enable these menaces.

Todays revelation about the terror plot makes Mike Wallace's interview with the Iranian President even more absurd. Wallace probably would think Ramsey Clark Yousef was a rational human being also. Wallace would have us believe that the terrorists are just poor misunderstood people who if we would only set down with and hold their hand and try to feel their pain they wouldn't want to kill us. Do these people at CBS have a peanut for a brain? What are they smoking?

Tammy, I am not a bigot by nature, but the Muslim jihadis are indeed behind just about every act of violence and mayhem in the world today, save for some infighting in Africa and even there Muslims are involved in a number of the wars.

I really do not want to resort to the ultimate bigotry to deny Muslims the right to fly, but I'll tell you more of these incidents take place and the authorities are going to need to answer those kinds of questions. Certainly, others can be recruited to the jihad, but until now, we always seem to have an Islamic base element to all the mischief. To me Islam has become a cult, and I distinguish that from a religion. It may have been a religion at one time, but it has morphed into being the most dangerous cult the world has ever known. Only a cult with diabolical intentions can do the multitude of violent things we have seen over the past 40 years. Iran has designs to become the 21st century version of Adolf Hitler's Germany, they intent to subjugate Iraq, Lebanon and other so-called allies there.

At times like this, it is mighty tempting for me to think what the world would be like without the Middle East, period. A very much nicer place.

Our security would be greatly enhanced if we did the following:

1. Prevented all Muslims from flying on all American-flag carrier airlines and ships
2. Immediately deported all non-US citizen Muslims from the US - including the revocation of all visas for school, work, tourist, business, etc
3. Reserve the extreme levels of airport screening and security only for Muslim passengers

My friends and co-workers accuse me of being a brown-shirted, jack-booted thug. I respond by telling them that these measures will be implemented - eventually. It all comes down to the harder "right" versus the easier "wrong." They can be done now and lives will be saved - or they can be implemented in the future after many more American lives have been lost. One way or another - they will be implemented. And perhaps the implementation of these measures will serve as a catalyst to the few Muslims who do not support terrorism to marshal their energies toward taking the lead in combating terrorism.

Madmud Almondjeans* rantings about the importance of August 22nd must bring up the question of a pre-emtive strike.

A precision strike upon Iranian nuclear sites any time before August 22nd must be under review by Israel and the West.

The logic seems sound enough. The only question is whether Iran is provoking and expecting a strike, and I doubt that they are.

Would a pre-emptive strike from the West stop Iran from becoming the head of the whole Middle East and Muslim world in general by throwing their plan off course?

Curious question in a way. It could mean that Persians would be the leaders and controllers of hundreds of millions of Muslims, should they actually be allowed to win with their plan.

[400 million in Indonesia alone]

There are many Arab nations and leaders who do not want this to happen, not to mention the democratic free world. = TG

And you also, who have the background knowledge and analytical ability to make important decisions; What is your plan regarding a precision strike to Iran nuclear targets before August 22nd?

We failed to smoke Hezbollah in 1983 when they killed 241 marines. Reagan gave the go - ahead, but Secretary Weinberger stopped it.

Reagan eventually forgave his lifelong friend. I would have had him court martialled.! Oooops..gave my view away there.

So what would mature and responsible thinkers like you, who are well suited to lead countries do, before August 22nd, and why?
