Special Saturday Fox News Appearance

Normally, you see me every Monday on Fox News, but I'll also be on today, Saturday at about 3:20pm ET (12:20pm PT) to discuss how the UK terror plot will affect the November elections.

Just repeat after me, "Senator Joe Lieberman (I)."

And about my usual Monday appearance. This next week it has been switched to Tuesday at 10:20am ET. I'm unable to do Monday because I'll be filling in at Laura Ingraham's radio program.

Hope ou can tune in for all of it, and that your weekend is being kind to you.

If Lieberman goes through with his independent campaign and emerges victorious, what then? It would be nice to think a centrist wing of the Democrat Party would coalesce around him, but is this hope realistic? It appears that there is a strong attempt by Democrat Party leadership to isolate and marginalize Lieberman at this point. This serves as a strong warning to the lower echelons of the Party machine to likewise toe the Party line. I seriously doubt Lieberman would join the Republicans (if you think he will, let's make a sporting wager!), and a true independent is a relatively impotent force in a body that requires affiliations and alliances. So I fear that Lieberman might end up putting on the façade of being magnanimous in victory, and essentially merging himself into the Leftwing herd in order to prove he can be as anti-Bush as the next guy.

As a technical point -- If Lieberman runs as an independent and wins, he doesn't forfeit his seniority, does he? Is the seniority based simply on continuous presence, or on continuous presence under a particular affiliation? The way these institutions run, being senior gives you clout. But seniority is meaningless in a party of one.

...enjoy your fact-based approach to analysis; would put $s on your prediction for Nov. demo impact - Joe will be requited;
most recent @war populus wake-up may hilight real underlying reason 60% of polled say they disagree w/ Bush conduct of War => most want more aggressive prosecution, unshackled military and rapid wins...same way Israelis turned to dim view of Omert mili/political approach.
Seems that when people fully believe their lives are threatened most want threat eliminated 1st and ASAP leaving negotiations to politicians when there's time to opine.
Keep up the fine presentation of fact-based view....hope you get more time on Fox and Radio...I'm watching you :)

My weekend just perked up when I read that you're doing Laura's show on Monday. Your last fill-in was excellent.

I rarely get a chance to catch your show when it's on here in Norfolk. So it's a treat when you sub on another show.

No, Horse, he wouldn't forfeit his seniority, but without a caucus, his seniority wouldn't mean much. Which will mean he may be forced to make a choice, even as an independent, of which party to caucus with (like former Republican Jim Jeffords, who now caucuses with the Dems). Without that, he might also not receive ANY committee assignments.
