Outrageous: Islamist Savages to be Accorded Geneva Protections

In about 15 minutes the president will be announcing a dramatic reversal when it comes to the al-Qaida masterminds of mass murder we have in custody.

In a shocking reversal, these freaks will now be afforded Geneva protections. Here's the initial story. In my next break I'll expand more here. We're also talking about it on Tammy Radio. I'm beside myself.

High-Value Detainees Will Be GIven Prisoner-of-War Status

ABC News has learned that President Bush will announce that high-value detainees now being held at secret CIA prisons will be transferred to the Department of Defense and granted protections under the 1949 Geneva Conventions. It will be the first time the Administration publicly acknowledges the existence of the prisons.

A source familiar with the president's announcement says it will apply to all prisoners now being held by the CIA, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the Sept.11 attacks, and senior al Qaeda leader Ramzi Binalshibh.

The source says there are "about a dozen" prisoners now being held by the CIA.

UPDATE:

Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and he actually did a pretty good job considering what the Supreme Court handed him re the Hamdan case. Michelle Malkin liveblogged the speech and has relevant links.

Mary Katherine Ham
at Town Hall provides all the specifics from the BUsh speech and addresses the implications.

Okay, I'm ready for impeachment now: The Bush administration on Wednesday said all detainees of the U.S. military would be ensured humane treatment, but some such as al Qaeda members would have fewer protections than other war prisoners. The Pentagon... [Read More]

I agree with you, not too bad. I wonder if this is in someway politcal genius. The Dems talking about a no-confidence vote and Bush talking about the War and his efforts to protect us.

I think there is a general lack of understanding of the purposes for the Geneva Convention rules. The mainstream media (and the general public due to the media's influence) seem to think these rules are all about protecting prisoners of war as if they were some kind of global Miranda rights. One of the main purposes of the Geneva Convention was to set up rules of engagement in an effort to protect civilian populations.

Allowing these terrorists Geneva Convention prisoner of war status implies that it is okay to attack and hide among civilians while conducting war. It makes me wonder by this logic how we can honestly prosecute the Marines for Fallujah?

When I voted for Bush I thought he was less liberal than JFK. This on top of his praising the terrorists and bashing the Danes last feb; and his plan to pardon 12,000,000 criminals! He is left of JFK!I VOTED FOR THE MOST LIBERAL NOT THE LEAST LIBERAL! He tricked me just like his dad did in 88.
