BUMPED UP/Terrorist Assistant Lynne Stewart Sentenced Today. BREAKING: Sentenced to 28 Months

Breaking: The judge announced a paltry "up to" 28 months, less than 2 1/2 years, to someone who materially supported terrorists. Scroll for the update.

***

Lynne Stewart is one of the best examples of how the extremist Left really do want the terrorists to win and this nation fail. To the point of assisting the enemy directly. She gets sentenced today.

Let's hope they throw the book at her, which means in this beast's case, 30 years. Her helping Rahman communicate with his followers in Germany cost untold numbers of lives. Every innocent who has died at the hands of a terrorist deserves dramatic justice, including seeing this leftist terrorist sympthizer and helper die in prison for her crime.

'LIFE' ON LINE FOR LAWYER

October 16, 2006 -- Civil-rights lawyer turned convicted criminal Lynne Stewart will find out today if she's getting a life sentence for helping Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman communicate with his terrorist followers...the government said she spent two years engaging in "extremely dangerous and devious" conduct to help the blind terror plotter and should spend 30 years behind bars.

Stewart's lawyers maintain that would be a virtual death sentence for their 67-year-old client, who is "morbidly obese," recently battled breast cancer and is suffering from diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnea...

Stewart was convicted in February 2005 of providing material support to terrorists by releasing a statement from Abdel-Rahman, who's serving a life sentence for plotting to blow up New York City landmarks.

Be fully informed about Stewart, her comrades and their agenda by visiting Discover the Networks, David Horowitz's dossier on the American left.

UPDATE:

Punishment Decided For 'Terrorist' Stewart
[Don't you love, btw, how NBC puts the word terrorist in quotation marks, like it's still under debate. The woman was convicted, for crying outloud].

Civil rights lawyer Lynne Stewart was sentenced Monday to 28 months in prison on a terrorism charge for helping a client who plotted to blow up New York City landmarks communicate with his followers, a sentence far less than 30 years prosecutors wanted.

Stewart, 67, smiled as the judge announced he would send her to prison for less than 2 ½ years.

"If you send her to prison, she's going to die. It's as simple as that," defense lawyer Elizabeth Fink had told the judge before the sentence was pronounced.

I'm sure she did smile. She has plenty to smile about. So these days, if you're a madman and explode a nuclear device while your people starve to death, the international community takes your cognac away. And if you're a "civil rights" lawyer who advocates violence and assists terrorists, you get a few months in prison. You realize Stewart will probably serve less than a year because other "health problems" will be announced. She will also receive free health care while she's incarcerated. In the meantime, she will be lauded as a leftist hero.

This is the state of our world today. All the more reason for you to not dismiss your importance in our society. You need to vote, be heard, and be righteously angry. Our great nation needs us now more than ever.

That is so strange that they think listing illnesses are valid reasons for avoiding prison time!? Does being ill or allergic to a certain food mean you shouldn't have to serve prison time for felonies you have been convicted of?

In the past month, I saw a regional news story about a woman convicted of embezzling a large sum of money, in Ohio, and she had a similar response towards her upcoming sentencing, saying she can't go to jail because she is allergic to MSG! (Monosodium Glutamate, a common, mild taste enhancer drug added to many salty snack foods, and many grocery foods which SOMETIMES acts similarly to caffeine if consumed in large amounts).

MSG, (also allowed to be listed as "Natural Flavorings") keeps me awake at night, too, in large doses, like if I eat a whole bag of Doritoes for dinner (which I used to do as an ignorant bachelor many years ago), but I never would have thought that this makes me ineligible for doing time over a felony conviction. Hot Dog!

Is it now cruel and unusual punishment to not specifically cater to personal diet preferences? I think doing hard time should not mean that you must be pampered to such an extreme that you are entitled to special catering services.

This woman has blood on her hands. She was a direct and knowing and crucial participant in a conpsiracy that resulted in terrorist murders. She assisted the first World Trade Center bomber to carry on his "work" from prison. And now she gets a maximum of 2 1/2 years? What's the justice in that? This is obscene. She'll be out before lunch, and she'll go on the lecture circuit where she'll be spun as a hero.

If you check the details, also note that her defence was funded by George Soros, the man who would guide the Democrats.

Outrageous. We should start calling it the "where's the Justice" system. I looked for the word treason somewhere in her charges. How many times do we have to ask whatever happened to the charge of treason in this country? Looks like the moral relativists have won that one. If we don't fight the enemies within our borders, what good does it do the fight them overseas. So depressing.

And after looking at that photo of Stewart on the NY Post link... well, let's just say I can't recall seeing the spirit of person so clearly manifest in their physical being.

she's charged with terrorism
she's convicted of terrorism
yet corporate media puts "terrorism" in quotes ...

... the inmates are running the asylum again

It is very disturbing to see the allies that Ms. Stewart attracted. If there was any doubt about the enabling of the terrorists under President Clinton's watch, just look at the letter of support from an assistant attorney general of Clinton's. George Soros' helped fund her defense early on. This woman while claiming to represent "civil rights" has spent her career trying to destroy America. She passed messages out from her client to attack and kill tourists in Egypt. This woman should be handed over to the Egyptian authorities now for them to try her.

Ms. Stewart crossed the line of aggressive defense of her client to active participation in terrorism.

The judge that sentenced her had a huge amount of discretion in determining her sentence, what she did is show that lawyers that aid terrorists beyond the courtroom run the risk of only a slap on the wrist. I don't know of other decisions that this judge has made in the past, however, I now paint her with the brush of being a Clinton appointee and therefore incapable of sentencing a terrorist for their crimes against humanity.

"Stewart's lawyers maintain that would be a virtual death sentence for their 67-year-old client ..."

And the problem is ... ?

I'm not a dumb man by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm having a hard time figuring out when execution for treason was taken off the table. Treason, loosely translated by a layman being me, is helping an enemy in a time of war. What Stewart did was treason. And according to the Constitution, the punishment for treason is execution.

Instead, she gets 28 months because she has breast cancer and a judge not up on the Constitution enough to pass the only judgment allowed for treason.

Waiter, check please.

They can now nominate her for the Nobel Peace Prize along with Cindy Sheehan. And why not? A "journalist" that published an article about our secret interrogation prisons for terrorists recieved a Pulitzer Prize. (Dana Priest)

Stewart is one of many leftist totalitarians who have enough shallow understanding of our legal system to become a lawyer and game it for the benefit of their terrorist tottalitarian clients. That she was arrogant and stupid enough to get caught reveals her as nothing more than a petty criminal who did far greater damage than you would expect from such. That she got only 28 months, instead of the 30 years she deserved is a comment more on the shallow legal training of leftist totalitarian democrat judges and our law schools than it is on her crime.

At least we know that for (hopefully) 28 more months, she'll be in a federal facility - forced to bathe. A small win buried within a huge loss for the public at large.

Gotta take your silver linings where you can get them.

I find it quite astounding - and revealing - that some judges seem to sleep quite comfortably at night with a soaking of innocent people's blood on their hands. In this modern day and age, the main thing seemingly missing from "justice" is "just".

More evidence of the enemy within. This is going to open the door for more sympathizers...why not help the enemy...what's two years of '3 hots and a cot'?

I'm so frustrated, I can hardly watch the news any longer...I don't want to be an ostrich with my head in the sand, but crap, when is this going to stop? Knowing that the enemy is laughing their heads off at our 'justice system' just makes me sick...this is just a indication that they are winning...how do we stop this? an election? an election of who? more Soros zombies? who is in the Republican party that can turn this around without a fight from the moonbats? grrrrr...

And the sad thing about her light sentence is that she refuses to acknowledge that she did anything wrong. How is it that a criminal can get a light sentence when they even refuse to admit that they did anything wrong. Something really stinks about this sentence. I wonder if the Judge was bought off?
