This is a good thing. Let’s hope he accepts. (HT Janet)

RNC asks Steele to replace Mehlman

Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, whose party just lost both chambers of Congress, will leave his position in January, and the post as party chief has been offered to Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele…

Also last night, Republican officials told The Times that Mr. Steele, who lost his bid for the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, has been sought out to succeed Mr. Mehlman as national party chairman. Those Republican officials said Mr. Steele had not made a decision whether to take the post, as of last night.

I hope he doesn’t accept. It might be good to have him as the chairman for the sole reason that he is black. But it’s kind of a dead-end job, and he is exactly the kind of conservative (Reagan-style) that we need in Congress. He won’t get there if he accepts the position.

In other news, is there a way to listen to Monday’s Tammy Bruce Show again? I’d like to use excerpts from her conversation with Sister Toldjah and the pro-Walmart guy, but neglected to record it. One of her best shows ever.
