The Speech President Bush Must Make

But isn't. Perhaps he should hire Saul Singer of the Jerusalem Post as his new speechwriter/foreign policy advisor. But then, the Saudis, Iranians and Russians may not like that.

Interesting Times: Make this speech

My fellow Americans: When I first swore the oath of office as your president almost six years ago, I committed to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." This duty compels me to address a growing threat to our nation, and to explain to you why and how we must do so...

Iran is actively supporting terrorist militias that are attacking Israel and attempting to make Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan ungovernable. The regime's purpose is clear: to intimidate free nations into standing by as it develops nuclear weapons - after which it will further escalate its campaign of terror with impunity. [...]

In 1936, a single French division could have stopped Adolf Hitler's occupation of the Rhineland. In 1938, France, Britain and the Czech army could have defeated Hitler, rather than handing Czechoslovakia over to the Nazi regime. Prudent action could have prevented World War II, saving 60 million lives, including the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust.

We stand at a similar juncture in history. A radical Islamist Iran is potentially even more dangerous than Nazi Germany was for three reasons: it could succeed in obtaining nuclear weapons; it operates through terrorist proxies, not just its own army; and it aspires to lead not just one state, but to mobilize the entire Islamic world.

Read the whole thing. Suggesting this approach is not astoundingly brilliant, nor is it remarkable in its insight--it is remarkable in that it is obvious, and yet no world leader is saying it. Instead, we will get the Baker report within weeks that will suggest we essentially hand over the Middle East to the enemy as we retreat. That is the Politics of Old. It is the approach which helped create a moral vacuum into which OBL dived. It is getting in bed with the devil, sacrificing justice for "peace".

In this day, however, we know full well that a quiet day does not mean we're not at war. September 10th, 2001 was one of those quiet days for us. The enemy relied on that willful ignorance as they planned. Quietly.

The Democrats garnered 87% of the Jewish vote for House races. I believe something like 84% voted Democrat overall in this election. It is sheer madness. Whatever mass psychology existed in the 1930's is here again today. Some kind of self-delusion. An unwillingness to face a reality too horrible to believe.

Excellent post, Tammy! You are correct that we are about to tuck tail and run from the middle east! Sigh! Our current President has squandered his moral authority by not fighting these Islamic pricks and now his legacy will be tarnished forever!
