The Two Faces of Newsweek

In the event you're wondering if the Establishment Media, entities like Newsweek, for example, have an agenda to make America look bad to the world (while not sharing their intentions with us), wonder no more.

One of the better examples of the conscious effort to undermine this nation comes from last month via the cover Newsweek chose to sell in America, versus the cover they used in Europe, Asia and Latin America. For their October 2nd issue, America was given an idyllic and serene cover featuring photographer Annie Liebovitz surrounded by a bunch of children. The rest of the world, however, was given the face of a Taliban terrorist, replete with grenade launcher and the dramatic statement headline, "Losing Afghanistan."

And we wonder why the rest of the world has such a horrible attitude. Because the American Establishment Media leads them into it and feeds on it. Now, most people don't read newsweeklies, but even if you don't buy them, covers alone send a strong message. In this instance, throughout the world one singular message was sent to the enemy and everyone else: not that Annie Liebovitz likes to take pictures, but that the Taliban were winning back Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense
took issue with Newsweek's bias, and requested a column to "rebut some of the more sensational charges." And how did Newsweek respond?

Newsweek dismissed the rebuttal as the “government position,” as well as the request for a stand-alone column. The Pentagon’s response to that letter read in part: “First, a ‘concise’ letter to the editor, of say, 200 words, cannot adequately address a 2200-word article containing a series of false assertions. Second, the issue is not Newsweek’s position versus the ‘government position.’ The issue is that your readers were given a one-sided, opinion-laced article on Afghanistan based on falsehoods—which is something that journalists and editors are usually concerned about. Your dismissive reply is disappointing, to say the least.”

They don't want Americans to see their attitude, but it sure sells well in the rest of the world. And in the process, I'm sure they think we'll never notice. Well, we do notice, and we'll make sure everyone else does, too.

It is an epidemic in this country, and not limited to Newsweek. Even the Associated Press was allowed to setup a junior senator, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a Senate Hearing, to use it as a bully pulpit to criticize Donald Rumsfeld in what was clearly an orchestrated surprise attack a few short months ago. Not surprisingly, Rumsfeld ate her up alive.
How the hell does this happen? How does the AP control the Senate agenda to this point. And Chuck Schumer can't be entirely pleased, getting upstaged by a junior senator. Not that I am a Schumer disciple, but this should indicate how far this country has fallen, how devious Hillary is, and the depth of her political influence.

This goes beyond anything we might learn from the Pew Report, and the politically aligned viewerships now inherent in cable news delivery. No, it is much more insidious than that. This issue should have mandated at least a Senate inquiry.

This certainly isn't the first time Newsweek has done this, they have a history of it:

Newsweek's flag in the trash

Absolutely despicable.
