Of course, employers can only afford to give these people a second chance if the minimum wage stays low; otherwise, the risk of some of them doing something to put them back in prison or endanger the other employees is too great. But, who cares about the poor as long as Big Labor is paying the bills?

Employer enforcement is very difficult and ineffective because the employers are the ones filling the campaign coffers of the ones we elect to enforce the law. By all means contain, but, deportation is still an important part of the picture. Even if massive roundups are considered impractical by some, I believe they should still be part of the solution. Every criminal discovered during a traffic stop, accident, DUI, or fraudulent attempt to access welfare, social security, or other safety net we provide for AMERICANS benefit, should lead to quick and easy deportation. Streamline the process so any law enforcement agency or officer can deport. No court-time or jail time for non-citizens…only free and speedy transportation.
