Yes, yes, very beautiful, but why the highest paid actress?
Why, I ask, why?
Nicole Kidman Now Highest Paid Actress
Nicole Kidman can claim a new crown. The Hours Oscar winner is the new chart-topper on the fifth annual list of highest-paid women actors in the film industry, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Kidman, who commanded a salary of nearly $17 million for her upcoming movie The Invasion (set for August 2007 release), rose from the No. 2 spot she previously held.
The Top 10, as ranked by the Reporter, are:
1. Nicole Kidman, $16 million-$17 million
2. Reese Witherspoon, $15 million
3. Renee Zellweger, $15 million
4. Drew Barrymore, $15 million
5. Cameron Diaz, $15 million
6. Halle Berry, $14 million
7. Charlize Theron, $10 million
8. Angelina Jolie, $10 million
9. Kirsten Dunst, $8 million-$10 million
10. Jennifer Aniston, $8 million
Who should really be at the top and isn’t even on the list: Women like Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, and Kate Winslet. Interestingly, all English.
UPDATE:
I have been gently reminded by Dave J in Comments that Kidman and Blanchett are both Australian, not English. I would argue, though, in a very weak attempt at being right, that it’s sort of the same thing? It’s the accent that gets me I suppose
But I’m actually even more wrong about Kidman–two very famous “Australians” were actually born here in the U.S.–Kidman and Mel Gibson. So, there you go.

Don’t forget Kate Beckinsale! She’s got what it takes to be the best female actor of our time.
1. She’s beautiful.
2. She probably has other talents…
“…Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, and Kate Winslet. Interestingly, all English.”
Er, Cate Blanchett, like Nicole Kidman, is Australian.
I have no problem with Nicole topping that list, and I’d substitute in your additions in place of Renee Zellweger, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston.
Goob: Kate Beckinsale has had the misfortune of being cast in some truly TERRIBLE movies.
It doesn’t seem like any of them are going to go hungry any time soon. It’s funny how the “Entertainment” business is just as nuts as how professional sports deals with free agents. Someone is always willing to overpay for some talent and then shakes their head when the payoff isnt equal to the payout. Fans are very fickle as well, Nicole just needs to remember its a further fall when you are at the top.
I think Meryl Streep is still one terrific actress. The differing emotions she can reveal with the most minute facial changes is amazing to watch.
And why is it that Julia Ormond isn’t on the list?
Of the actresses on that top ten list, Nicole Kidman is the best.
As for the other nine, consider it the Marilyn Monroe effect. They’re stars, not actresses. (In my opinion.)
