Go Ethiopia! Of course, they have the benefit of not being hampered by a muticulturalist, politically correct brainwashed society that’s afraid to actually kill the enemy. Nope. I think Ethiopia is reminding us that war isn’t about trying to make jihadies like them, or prove to anyone else how charitable they are.
This was is important because the Islamists who had taken hold of Somalia exist only because of bin Laden, and its fighters are primarily foreign. The capture of Somalia was seen as establishing a Taliban-like AQ support base.
It’s also amazing what happens when the worldwide leftist media isn’t around to hamper the work of warriors. I have the distinct feeling that the Ethiopian military, combined with the legitimate Somali military, didn’t offer to embed any media with their troops. How quickly the savages are smashed when they don’t have that nihilistic and sympathetic media support. With apparently no media at all involved in this one, the good guys seem to doing a very efficient job of dispatching civilization’s enemy.
Thanks, Ethiopia, for having the courage to do what the Western world has refused to do everywhere else–kill the enemy quickly and efficiently and with no apology.
Somalia:Up to 1000 Islamists dead – claim
Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said more than 1,000 people have died in fighting since his troops backing Somalia’s government forces took the offensive against powerful Islamists…Meles said his force had “broken the back” of the foreign-backed Islamists and forced them into “full retreat” in the wake of air strikes and artillery battles on several fronts…
“Liberating towns is not our agenda. Our troops have not entered any town,” the prime minister added. Mainly Christian Ethiopia justified intervention on the grounds that the Islamists represent a direct threat to its own security and sovereignty, and has aligned with Washington in linking their radical leaders with the Al-Qaeda network.
Somalia called on the Council of Islamic Courts militias, bloodied by a week of artillery and mortar attacks, to surrender and promised amnesty if they lay down their weapons, government spokesman Abdirahman Dinari said.
A U.N. official, meanwhile, said Tuesday that Ethiopian-backed government troops were advancing on Mogadishu, the capital, from two directions and facing stiff resistance…Experts fear the conflict in Somalia could engulf the region. Islamic courts leaders [al-Qaida fighters--ed] have repeatedly said they want to incorporate ethnic Somalis living in eastern Ethiopia, northeastern Kenya and Djibouti into a Greater Somalia.
For months, foreign Islamic radicals — including Pakistanis, Arabs and Chechens — have been trickling into Somalia to fight on behalf of the Islamic movement. According to a U.N. report in October, Eritrea — Ethiopia’s neighbor and longtime adversary — has dispatched 2,000 soldiers to Somalia to fight against the Ethiopian-backed central government.

My sentiment exactly! I do not think it could be summed up any better.
Let’s keep these determined, brave souls in our prayers as we pray for our own troops & families. God bless them as they take a solid, forceful stand against Islamofascism while showing the West how to get the job done!
The good news is also the bad news. All we know is what the Ethiopian military tells us, and they have every reason to hype success and deny failure. At least someone is taking the enemy on. (I admit to being surprised that Ethiopia even had an army.)
Too bad America does not have a President with the brains to understand how an honest War on Terror should be run and the guts to do it. Instead we get disingenuous “Read my lips!…” stzatements of support of the war.
In the end we will lose the War just like we lost the Reagan tax cuts.
For those under 40 the top tax rate was 28% before the last G. Bush delivered on his “Read my lips!…” promise.

Ethiopia has a history of responding quickly and completely to threats. In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s hijacking of airplanes was becoming frashionable among terrorists. That stopped quicky for Ethiopian Airlines which stationed military on each flight. If a hijack was attempted the hijackers were thrown out the door then and there. End of hijacking problem.
Just hope somebody’s taking notes in Washington. (I can dream, can’t I?)
