Confirmed: Saddam Swings Tonight

As I noted earlier, this is a key step to reforming Iraq. To say nothing of the justice the one million plus victims of Saddam Hussein deserve. With all the mistakes we've made in the MIddle east in the past, including our history of proppoing up brutal dictators, President Bush's commitment to liberate Afghanistan and Iraq, and now the execution of Saddam, helps, in a small way, to right those wrongs.

Gallows are reportedly in place, witneses are gathering, and the execution will reportedly take place in the prison where he has been held.

Official: Saddam to be executed tonight

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The official witnesses to Saddam Hussein's impending execution gathered Friday in Baghdad's fortified Green Zone in final preparation for his hanging, as state television broadcast footage of his regime's atrocities.

With U.S. forces on high alert for a surge in violence, the Iraqi government readied all the necessary documents, including a "red card" — an execution order introduced during Saddam's dictatorship.

An adviser to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Saddam would be executed before 6 a.m. Saturday, or 10 p.m. Friday EST. Also to be hanged at that time were Saddam's half-brother Barzan Ibrahim and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, the adviser said.

Even in this, however, we're still blinded by the absurdity of political correctness.

Al-Nueimi said U.S. authorities were maintaining physical custody of Saddam to prevent him from being humiliated before his execution. He said the Americans also want to prevent the mutilation of his corpse, as has happened to other deposed Iraqi leaders.

"The Americans want him to be hanged respectfully," al-Nueimi said. If Saddam is humiliated publicly or his corpse ill-treated "that could cause an uprising and the Americans would be blamed," he said.

Oh, please. The last thing Saddam deserves is 'respect.' The message that sends to the Iraqi people 9and the world) is ridiculous. The man was a despotic, mass murdering tyrant. For crying out loud. If we weren't trying to run a politically correct war, we wouldn't have to be worried about the enemy and their 'uprisings.' Instead, the enemy would be dead or at least would know to behave themselves. But no, we handle them like children throwing a tantrum--we placate and pander and wonder why the temper tantrums continue.

Dream on, Bubba! While this may be al-Nueimi and the MSM's fondest hope, it ain't gonna happen. Justice will be done for once.

Ironic - in "civil war-torn" Iraq there is justice, while in America leftist lunatics have made justice illegal. In Iraq a dictator will pay for his crimes, while in America our tyrants have just seized power. Which country is the one really in trouble, I wonder?
