High Ranking Iranians Detained in Iraq

I realize it's Christmas Eve, but the world is still spinning and the bad guys are still plotting. Some are even being caught.

Now, for the life of me, I do not know why this is being reported as some inexplicable, shocking news. If you read Tammy Blog regularly you know I will be filing this under: I Told You So. I have posted here, and have noted repeatedly on Fox News, what is obvious and what our State Department, the Bush admin, and even the buffoons of the Iraq Surrender Group realize: all of the violence in the Middle East today is funded and facilitated by Iran. Iraq, Lebanon, and even the violence in Gaza, are proxy fronts of war with Iran.

Report: US holding Iranian officials seized in Iraq

The US Military is holding at least four Iranians in Iraq, including men the Bush administration calls senior military officials, who were seized in raids last week, the New York Times reported on Sunday.

The raids were aimed at people suspected of conducting attacks on Iraqi security forces, the Times said, citing senior Iraqi and US officials in Baghdad and Washington. Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the US National Security Council, told the Times two Iranian diplomats were among those initially detained in the raids.

They were turned over to Iraqi authorities and released, he said. The Times said Johndroe confirmed that a group of other Iranians, including the military officials, remained in custody while an investigation continued.

Why would the Bush admin finally take action against Iranians in Iraq now? Because next month he will be telling us what his new plans for Iraq are, we have his State of the Union address, and he needs a good reason to explain why he's rejecting the ISG's suggestion that we negotiate with that pit of a nation.

The original report is in the New York Times, a piece of trash which I refuse to link to from this blog. If you do want to read their coverage, I refer you to Power Line's post about this situation. They have commentary and the link.

I guess it would be too much to ask them to secure the Iraq/Iran border, considering we cannot even secure the US/Mexico border. All of the bombs that are killing American soldiers are coming from Iran along with terrorists and military advisors and we can't do anything about it? It's a sorry state of affairs and our troops are paying the price. What we need to do is put about a 100k troops on the Iran border and see how that moron in Iran likes that.
