On my way now to the Fox studios in Los Angeles for a segment about the release of the James Baker Iraq Study Group Report today. I will be on at about 10:20am ET (7:20am PT).
My primary point will focus on the fact that how the president responds to this report will finally indicate to us his intentions for the next two years. President Bush was a man re-elected because we liked his America First attitude. He rejected the old political ‘strategy’ of getting in bed with the devil for the sake of ‘security’ over justice. I also endeavor to note that the election was not a message from the people that we pine for the days of Vietnam, and wish to return to Jane Fonda and John Kerry’s glory of us being surrendering losers.
The Baker Group is reported to suggest negotiating with terrorists states Iran and Syria. That suggestion alone exposes their Arabist bias, and a desire to return to the politics of old–the politics that got us September 11th. We can only there is still a glimmer in President Bush of the man we got to know in the aftermath of September 11. A man who knew that one does not deal with terrorists–one eliminates them.
The report will be released at 8am ET. At that time you can read it here:
Center for Strategic and International Studies and at the
Center for the Study of the Presidency
Great debate this morning. I just pray that President Bush wakes from this sleep he’s been in and takes this opportunity to TRULY LEAD again. It is absolutely maddening(!) that anyone continues to promote this idea of trying to negotiate with Iran and Syria. We aren’t dealing with reasonable, rational human beings. These are evil, murderous individuals who have made it extremely clear that they don’t care about compromising or working things out with anyone! They want death, destruction and domination–where is the meeting ground here Mr. Baker?
