Now Jennifer Connolly has joined the crowd that just loves the idea of being made to feel superior by adopting a Poor Black Child. After all, it’s either that, or buying a new shiny car.

“We absolutely considered adopting. We have a son who went through a separation of his parents and then a new stepfather and a new sibling. He’s had a lot of change so of course I really have to be sensitive to him.
“One of the kids I became close to was older than him. What would that mean to my family? Would my son feel displaced, all of a sudden having an older sibling who didn’t speak the language and would need so much more time and attention?…but we are still considering.”
Yeah, even after recognizing the damage that will probably be done to her own son, she’s still considering it. After all, the only thing that really matters is her feeling good about herself. And besides, all the Really Big Stars have one. A Poor African Child, that is.

There are lots of black kids here in the US that would love to be adopted and they speak english…
Yes, Marie. That is very true indeed. But first of all, an African child lends a certain cachet at cocktail parties. You know, like owning an expensive, temperamental, always-in-the-shop exotic car.
Second and more noteworthy: The NAACP and the other usual suspects would pitch fits when some white chick wants to adopt a black kid. Gotta keep it real, knowwhutahmean?
