They would have gotten “meetings” like this instead of war. Jews would have also been exterminated and the world would be speaking German and walking in goose-step. But who am I to judge the Bush/Rice/Baker foreign policy of cowardice, indecision and group therapy?
US, Iranians to meet over Iraq stability
Iran and the United States are set for the first cabinet-level meeting since the end of 2004.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she would not rule out the possibility of conferring directly with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki at a regional conference on Iraq. But she did not foresee any discussions on one of the most divisive issues between the two, Iran’s nuclear program.
“This is not a meeting about the United States and Iran,” she said on the ABC News program This Week on Sunday. “This is a meeting about Iraq and about what Iraq’s neighbours and interested parties can do to help stabilise the situation in Iraq.”
She then ticked off a list of actions Washington would seek from Tehran in a repetition of the accusations that have helped sour relations, including providing Shiite militias with weaponry to use in roadside bombs, known as improvised explosive devices.
Oh, I see. It’s not a meeting between us and Iran; it’s a meeting between Condi and Barney the Dinosaur. Because she says so. And instead of setting up a war strategy against the country that is providing the weapons and training that is killing our troops, we’re setting up a coffee-klatch.
Yep, if those Nazis weren’t dead and buried they’d be kicking themselves right now. Oh wait, they’re not dead and buried, they’re just calling themselves “Islamists”.
I think a meeting is a great idea, as long as, when the parties get behind closed doors we grab that ugly smiling clown by the ba@#%$ (short hairs) and let him know what will happen if he does not stop f’ing with us. Of course it would help if their people did not hold a majority in the house and senate,(“we’re tired of being called unpatriotic every time we vote to surrender to the enemy.”).
While she’s at it maybe Ms. Rice can consult with Ahmadinejad and see how he would like to handle that annoying Jewish problem. Teri
I think most of us saw this comming 5 weeks ago when Bush and Blair negotiated the release of the Brits * for not being in Iranian waters*!
I saw it 15 months ago when Bush praised the terrorists and condemed the Danes as trouble makers in the cartoon murders and embassy burnings.
Bush lies when he says the US must win the War on Terror”. Its just another liberal “Read my lips!…”.
Full disclosure – I voted for Bush in 88 and in 04! So I am partly to blame.
It is all so disturbing. What happened? When did we lose our balls..um chutzpah? We know the only thing that part of the world respects is force. Why are we backing down and getting all touchy feely with them?? I just saw a portion of a speech John Edwards gave at UNLV’s campus… made me ill. He too feels we should speak with Iran (and Syria); afterall, they don’t want to see the region in turmoil. Oh really? So who in the world does he think is providing the fighters and funding the IEDs? Norway???
The State Department has once again designated Iran as the world’s leading world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, accusing the Islamic Republic of aiding extremists throughout the Middle East, particularly in Iraq.
How rude!
