Okay, well maybe just the drunken insanity part. Or one of the two of those. Or maybe just the wearing-a-man’s-suit part, but I don’t think I’d look as good as Patsy. No, actually I know I wouldn’t look as good as her.
After my mood today, tomorrow’s Tammy Radio will be very interesting…
And for those of you who do not know of the joy of AbFab, here’s your linky.
Well, you must remember that we all love you out here and you fill an important need.
During the Eighties, we had Ronald Reagan to explain to us over and over again how special America is, the amazing opportunities it creates, and the good things about our way of life that we all too often take for granted. We don’t have Reagan any more, but we have you. You keep us from losing heart in these dark times, when we have all too many leaders who can’t measure up. (I wasn’t even alive in the Seventies, but Bruce says having no one to speak for you is like being mugged every time you turn on the TV or pick up a newspaper.)
And if you’re REALLY upset, then the simple Christian act of giving to others can make it all seem much easier. In particular, a gift certificate for Sargento’s cheese products sent to my address will make the world a vastly happier place.
I love that show! It took me about 5 episodes to understand a word they were saying, but they are hilarious. I like the daughter too (Saffron?).
One time Patsy ran in with 4 cigarettes in her mouth cursing about the “bloody asthmatic cab driver” and then took off her jacket and was wearing about 10 nicotine patches. As Eddie was peeling them off of her, she said, “Darling, they seem to be sucking something out of you instead of putting something in.”
Saffron said, “She’s recharging them.”
I’ve watched a few episodes of this show, but like Ashleymatt I can’t understand half of what they’re saying. They talk incredibly fast. Of course too, British humor is different. The show is just too much for me – all gestures, comments, facial expressions, movements, etc. are way over the top – I guess that’s their gimmick. I can understand how it would appeal to some, but it’s something I can view only in small doses.
I loved the show. It was a good representation of once spoiled, narcissistic, quasi-hipppie type baby-boomers who’ve turned into jaded fashion professionals. The daughter playing the “straight man” who acts more like a mom than her own mother was a great touch too. The dimwitted assistant character is classic! Occasionally Lampooned the sacred cows of the left. Put on your Monty Python/Faulty Towers Accent Decoder Ring and you’ll be able to get past the fast talk.
This is the one we like…
Lately, I’ve been watching my Northern Exposure DVD’s, Seasons 1-6.
I’d forgotten how good the writing was on that series….just phenomenal.
And for the record…I think you’d look rather dapper in a vintage Oleg Cassini black wool suit ; )
See???…
:) That link is worth saving Ugly…
Tammy you are a great voice of reason and sanity in a crazy politicized world. Have to see if I can find a internet stream of your show tomorrow Tammy.
AbFab is great, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances, Red Dwarf, the list goes on… I really enjoy the british comedies. Heck I even watched The Young Ones on occasion.
So I am not the only one who thought Patsy was kind of hot then? Thanks tammy!
