Shame on Olmert for what he did say. At his joint press conference with Merkel, he offered to meet with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia (which does not recognize Israel) and other Arab leaders at a regional meeting for peace negotiations. He said Israel was prepared to make "big and painful" concessions. The Arabs replied by saying they'd convene peace talks only after Israel accepts the Arab peace plan. That plan calls for Israel to return to pre-1967 borders and to accept the return of millions of Palestinian "refugees". For their part the Arabs promise to normalize relations with Israel.
