They Should Hang Their Heads in Shame

But they won’t not as long as they still have their goodie bags to open up.

Felix Carman holds a gift given to him by Iranian officials

Actually, one of the captured British troops hasn’t been smiling. One. Now they are home, I am finally seeing some appropriate critique in both the blogosphere and the English press noting how shamelessly cooperative the ‘captives’ were throughtout the situation.

I took issue with the ease these men and one woman did the bidding of the Iranians. In an editorial, the UK’s Telegraph subtlely notes their willingness to cooperate with the enemy.

They’re free, but Britain has been humiliated

Relief at the freeing of the British sailors and Marines in Iran is tempered with dismay at the humiliation to which they and the country they serve have been subjected…Yet the satisfaction of a diplomatic challenge eventually handled with skill is soured by the string of psychological humiliations that Britain has suffered.

First, there is the apparent incompetence of the Royal Navy in providing insufficient protection to lightly armed inflatables, at a time when relations between Iran and the West were particularly volatile following the imposition of UN sanctions. Second, the seized personnel lost no time in admitting to having trespassed and in apologising for their mistake. The old military practice of giving name, rank and number, and no more, has obviously been abandoned.

In the meantime, Allah at Hot Air has a roundupt noting the rest of the blogosphere’s indignation (finally) at the happy-go-lucky attitude of the British sailors. Something Tammy Blog noted here and here and here when it was still politically incorrect to do so.

From the Washington Times:

British hostages untrained in rules of incarceration

From a retired Army officer:
“Had the captured sailors and marines been Americans, they should have fought and, if necessary, died resisting,” Mr. Maginnis said. “Of course, that’s likely why the Iranians went after Brits and not Americans.”

Does anyone think Britain has been humiliated enough to change its rules of engagement in the future? Dear God, I would hope so. Otherwise, the British should be prepared for many more “kidnappings” by terrorists in the future.

If the British military does not change its ways, it would be essentially letting Iran and any other terrorist/terrorist state know that they are available to be used as pawns–anytime, anywhere.

I certainly hope the truly disgraceful conduct by the 15 (minus 1) is duly rewarded.

The Irainians are too ashamed to capture another crew of killing machines.

Sir Winston spins in his grave.

And the Euroweenies absorb another blow from their future islamo-masters.

This is beyond depressing :(

Is Britain the only one ashamed? I don’t think so. I can’t believe we released that Iranian. Let’s hope we didn’t do it as quid pro quo, or America is looking as weak as Britain :( .

I remember my Basic Training – somewhere I still have my card that reminds me of the Code of Conduct. Nowhere in any of my military training do I remember “surrender at the first sign of a gun and accept goodies from the enemy”.

I think part of the problem was also the “rules of engagement” – were they even allowed to fire back? And what of the frigate HMS Cornwall? What was she doing while the sailors and marines were being taken?

Up until now I’ve had great respect for the Royal Navy. It’s truly sad to see what remains of what once was one of the greatest navies in the world. :(

I read they were to be “debriefed” upon their arrival…that happened a week ago! They have been wearing panties ever since!

I don’t think anyone in my platoon cracked a smile or laughed in 9 weeks of Basic becuase it was serious business and these blokes shouldn’t find anything funny about this entire situation.

BBC News

Now they’re saying it was awful. Bound and blindfolded, constant psychological pressure, stone cells, sleeping on piles of blankets.

I expected the sort of comments we are hearing from the sailors, those are not surprising. What IS surprising still, is the oddball behavior from some of them. The pictures making the rounds on the wires look more like a group returning from Disneyland.

I think instead of Limeys, we should call the Brits Flapjacks from now on.

Talk about head exploding! My eye’s twitching and I can feel the migrane coming! OH! Time for more ABFAB to help! (btw, thanks for that earlier in the week)

The real bad guys/cowards here are Bush and Blair. Yesterday I read that Iraq had freed 7 Iranian provocateurs captured last Summer leading “insurgents” against coalition forces. Now today I read that Bush is going to do the same thing with
http://www.nysun.com/article/51945

Note the article says that at the same time Bush is denying he is capitulating to Iran he is having his people work out the surrender terms. Just like he was 100% behind Rummy in Oct and then fired him a week later!

This was a *big* win for Iran and as I said almost 2 weeks ago a big defeat for those fighting (or pretending to fight) the War on Terror. But then Bush ran up the White Flag in the War on Terror 14 months ago when he praised the terrorists and condemned the Danes! The fighting spirit of Neville Chamberlain lives on in America and the UK!
To make me feelings clear
IRAN WON BIG AND THE USA AND UK LOST BIG
THE WAR ON TERROR IS OVER WE LOST!

IF we’re losing it’s only because the leftists are openly supporting the enemy and won’t let us fight.

Why is it that the left always supports our enemies?

It’s time to go back on offense!
