Newt Compares Bush to Carter, Rips Amnesty Bill

Hot Air has the video. Here’s your bite:

“The base of this party is looking up going,…Why are we ramming through an omnibus Teddy Kennedy bill and attacking Republicans who criticize it? And calling us, for example, as one senator did, “bigots” when all we’re saying is, this government couldn’t possibly implement this bill. There’s no evidence at all this government is capable of executing this…”

And remember Peggy Noonan’s point (which Newt refers to): You didn’t leave President Bush or the Republican Party, they left you.

Yes, Tammy you are right the Republican party left many of us. They did that in the last election cycle.

President Bush was more interested in his amnesty for illegal aliens than in making sure Republicans were elected last November. The Republicans that were interested in border control were all tossed under the bus by the president. The final nail in the coffin was putting in Mel Martinez as the RNC chair.

Newt was great and he is right.

Not one penny of my money will ever go to the RNC ever again. Peggy Noonan put it rather succinctly President Bush squandered his political capital.

The Republican party may never recover.

with what the republican party is doing, and the incomepetence of the dems, the corruption in both parties, we need term limitts. The “elected” leaders would never pass that bill, they like job security. Nevermind the fact they are selfish imbeciles.
