After Affair, Villaraigosa Gets Booed at Beckham Event

Tony Villaraigosa, the mayor of my lovely town who made Los Angeles a Sanctuary City, and attended and encouraged the illegal alien marches, has been in a bit of hot water. In June I posted about his impending divorce. What we didn't know at the time was that he had been carrying on an adulterous affair with Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas. Salinas, with a void of ethics all her own, continued to report on the mayor's activities, including his divorce (!) without disclosing that she was having an affair with the man, and the probable reason for the divorce (in addition to the now estranged wife no doubt getting tired of being married to an apparent sexual compulsive). Obviously, Villaraigosa and Salinas have a lot in common--neither one of them operate without integrity, dignity, or principles. Yep, a match made in heaven.

The good news is, I'm thrilled to report Los Angeles isn't as cynical about issues of ethics and values as you might think. While appearing at an event welcoming new Galaxy player David Beckham to Los Angeles, Villaraigosa got booed, big time. Pretty darn sweet to see and hear people reject such a smarmy guy. I'm proud of us.

Politicians. With very few exceptions, they're all scum.

Finally the public is responding to a politician's bad behavior in a manner that I agree with. Wow, with all those affairs when did Villaraigosa have time to work?

On the KCAL news report from the event, the reporter (Mark Coogan) mentioned the booing near the end of the clip and quickly stated that it wasn't about any of the "current events", but was about Villaraigosa's past vocal support for the other MLS team that plays at Home Depot, Chivas USA.

That seems a more likely explanation given the crowd, I'm sorry to say.

I'd boo him, not cause he supports Chivas USA, or even cause he was cheating on his wife, just cause he's another advocate of nanny-statism.

From the wiki on Chivas,

"The team's fanbase is primarily made up of Latino, or more specifically Mexican, supporters. Vergara has promised that, although the team may not be composed entirely of Latin players, the team's main language will be Spanish. This is evidenced in the team's marketing slogan for its inaugural campaign in 2005, "Adiós soccer. ¡El fútbol está aquí!", which translates to "Goodbye soccer, football is here!" Since 2006, Chivas USA's marketing slogan has been "Chivas USA: Está en Tu Sangre", or in its English version, "Chivas USA: It's in Your Blood"."

Warms the heart, doesn't it? Seems fitting that Villaraigosa would support that team, also.

Well, proud because Angelenos booed him? OK, but that's just a bit of pride. Where was it when they voted someone like him into office?

I understand that Gavin Newsom, SanFran's ultra-left philandering mayor, is running unopposed for a new term. Whatever flak he draws, I bet Villaraigosa remains secure in L.A. politics (although this *may* dampen his statewide ambitions).

I suppose this is a stupid comment, but I've got to offer it anyway: Since I generally have contempt for most of the mainstream news media, I don't find the behavior of Salinas particularly shocking or groundbreaking. Sure, it's an overt conflict of interest. But then, the news is already so agenda-driven that it's almost a breath of fresh air to find a good old-fashioned love interest. Isn't that less troubling than the ideologues that constantly spin their reportage to make their team appear to hold the high ground?

Barring it was his support for Chivas USA-and why would that support get him such a booing as this?-the fact that he was booed says to me that the real America is alive and maybe even well. That is good news!

I'm kinda bummed this incident put a damper on Becks' welcoming party, but man, the sleazebag had this coming!

I disagree the booing was mostly due to his support for a rival team. I bet he gets the same reception at Dodger Stadium, Staples or any event with a sizable crowd.

Isn't Villaraigosa a chair for Hillary's Presidential campaign? Irony is kinda ironic that way. If she were smart, she'd kick him to the curb.

Bill Moyers, Journal is now doing the theme about impeachment...he cited something 50% of the public think Bush OR Cheney should be impeached; and Bruce Fineman that craggy old Republican attorney that played such a role in the Clinton impeachment, as I recall, and Fineman is featured in it saying he's really negative on the W House's refusal to allow Harriet Miers to testify upon being subpoenaed by tthe House of Representatives...

This is headed for a Constitutional showdon...it's like the Nixon showdown started out, too.

Recall, Clinton negotiated his way out of the Subpoenas he just didn't say to Congress, NO...way....

Geez I hope you say something about his today, TAmmy...

Love your ahow...I actually have been listening to you during the week as much as I listen to Rush.

I was in Sacramento last month visiting my brother. We went down to LA and WHOA!!!!! has that city slipped. What a sad day to see one of the former cities of greatness turned into nothing more than a Mexican border town. I thought it would look the same as it did when I was there 7 years ago, man was I wrong. I played golf w/bro and friends, one who happened to be a gay cop, and SHE said the city has all but imploded under mayor guevara errrrrrrr mayor villaraigosa. FELICIDADES JIMMY!!!!!!!!!!
