Michael Vick in Possible Plea Deal Negotiations

I'll be having an ASPCA representative on the show this week for updates on the Vick case, especially in light of the reports that Vick is considering a plea deal reportedly offered by prosecutors. Considering the brutality of the animal abuse, torture and killing involved in this case, the man allegedly responsible for making it all possible should face the full force of justice. That does not include making a deal with a man like Vick. What sort of human being has a guarantee of $150 million dollars and decides to spend his money helping to facilitate the torture of animals? Here's the latest on the plea deal reports. Friday appears to be the plea deal deadline.

Deal to limit term, save career sought for Vick

ATLANTA -- Attorneys for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick yesterday were seeking a plea deal that would limit his prison time and save his NFL career, according to people with knowledge of the negotiations.

The New York Times, citing "an individual with direct knowledge of the case," said Vick and his lawyers were weighing a plea agreement from the government that would probably put the Newport News native in prison for one to two years.

Save his NFL career? Not if we have anything to do with it, and we do.

Wait, to get this straight...

We're complaining that a man who could buy his way out of punishment is agreeing to a plea deal?

That sounds like a winner all around to me.

I know Vick has some very expensive lawyers working for him; but, he needs to get what's left of OJ's "Dream Team" if he wants to play soon.

This case, like OJ, is strong. He needs well connected lawyers to get out of it. Like OJ it would not be justice but when did lawuers and justice appear in the same paragraph except as an oxymoron?

I'm just glad to know that Michael Vik will be able to play football again! He's a "hero" to millions of children and will be able to take the field again after coming out of prison and will be celebrated as a returning warrior who has served his time! We certainly have our priorities straight in America and are sending a very positive message for our youth! Do anything you want to do...go to prison and come out to an adoring public and a gazillion dollars! Sarcasm now off...

So much for the myth, that participating in sports builds character.

These dog fighters are being very foolish. If they attract police attention with dog fighting on their property, they run the risk of the authorities discovering some of their other illicit activities such as incest, child pornography, and drugs just to name a few. They should keep a lower profile. Sometimes you have to make compromises in life.

In a high profile case like this any deal usually has to be OK'd by the Justice Department in Washington. Let's hope Gonzolas doesn't leave the decision to some jackass Democrat holdover who wants to embarrass the Bush Administration, and that Gonzolas likes dogs and hates the Atlanta Falcons.

Oh I beg to differ, I think he should be welcomed back with open arms, for as long as he lasts.
Surely one of his offensive linemen has a couple of labs that his kids love. How hard is this guy going to block for Mikey? After all things happen and sometimes you just fall down. I know a Pittsburgh Steelers' linebacker that loves his pets and he has a lot of them. Mmmmm.
I played a lot of ball in my youth, sometimes the difference between a good hard hit and a knee that looks finger licking good is very small.
Since Mikey likes blood sports, let him play one, there are guys out there willing to obliege him.

From the beginning I believed that the Feds have massive and good evidence on Vick. Given the fact that abusing and killing animals has been proven to be a gateway activity to abusing and killing people, and considering that all of the kinds of criminal activities that are typically linked with animal fighting, I do not believe there is any way, plea deal or no plea deal, that Vick will ever regain innocence, money, fame or an NFL contract unless he experiences a psychological transformation of major proportions. I do not think narcissists are able to change their colors. It requires introspection, something they are not capable of. He is in a fantasy if he thinks he can just go back and recast his career, minus the blood, death, lack of tears, drugs, money, weapons, sex, etc.. And then there are all of those bad guys in jail that happen to like dogs ...

Let's at least try the guy and find him guilty before we destroy him.

Posted by: robert108 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 15, 2007 05:55 PM

All Michael Vick will have to do is plead guilty, go to jail for a very short sentence, come out of jail and go on Oprah shed a few tears, then go back on the football field and throw and run for a few touchdown passes and all will be forgiven! Our culture has it's priorities so screwed up that the abuse and execution of these poor animals won't matter anymore! Sigh...
