The True Hillary?

A post by Maynard

Hillary has covered a lot of political turf in her life. She began as a Goldwater Girl, working with the libertarian Right. In college she turned hard Left, and eventually messed up when she demanded health care nationalization during her brief stint as "co-President". After that fiasco, the Republicans took Congress and Bill Clinton moved closer to the center, and co-President Hillary Rodham disappeared.

Today's Hillary would have us believe she's a centrist.

Does any of this matter? We all live and learn and grow, and every politician panders and spins. Even so, there must be some core truth lurking behind the façade. It's a fair question to ask about anyone that would lead us.

There has been a mysterious aura surrounding Hillary's 1969 college thesis, which bears the militant title, "There is only the fight...". It's a study of leftist organizer Saul Alinsky, and it explores questions of how to change the American political culture. Rather weirdly, this paper was locked away at the Clinton's request when Hillary became co-President:

...the Clintons asked Wellesley [College] in 1993 to hide Hillary Rodham's senior thesis...

Wellesley's president, Nannerl Overholser Keohane, approved a broad rule with a specific application: The senior thesis of every Wellesley alumna is available in the college archives for anyone to read — except for those written by either a "president or first lady of the United States." So far, that action has sealed precisely one document: Hillary Rodham’s senior honors thesis in political science, entitled " ‘There Is Only the Fight...’: An Analysis of the Alinsky Model."...

...Under Wellesley's rule, Clinton's thesis became available to researchers again when the Clintons left the White House in 2001 — available only to those who visit the Wellesley archives. But few have made the trip, and the document's allure continued to grow. A purloined copy was offered for sale on eBay in 2001, then withdrawn when Clinton's staff cited copyright law.

(Keep in mind that the purpose of a thesis is to expand the sphere of human knowledge. The idea is to spread it far and wide. It's not a private document like a diary.)

Of course, a cover-up is always intriguing. Does her writing expose Hillary as a dangerous radical? Enquiring minds want to know. Peggy Noonan once referred to Hillary's paper as "the Rosetta stone of Hillary studies".

And now this tome is finally available. Go here.

Will we see the true face of Hillary? Here's a substantial analysis and commentary from David Horowitz's "Front Page Magazine".

It's worth taking a moment to remember that Ronald Reagan stood with the Left in the days of his youth, as did David Horowitz and of course Tammy. But these people talked freely about the evolution of their thinking, and why they rejected some ideas and embraced others. Hillary is, like so many wannabe-presidents, trying to be all things to all people.

Many people write/talk about Hillary's Health Care attempts. But they neglect to note, or may not know, that she radically revamped the military health care program. What was once a guarantee to veterans in military facilities became an HMO, called Tricare. The first year you would see old WW2 vets walking around saying, "I used to be able to be seen in that clinic", etc. Her legacy lingers ...
