Giuliani Advocates Open Borders

piginpearls.jpg

The Giuliani/McCain Open Border Amnesty Pig. Yes, she has pearls, but a pig is a pig is a pig.

And touts a stunningly absurd "Just tell us your name" Guest Worker Program. Where have we heard this before? No wonder he's such a fan of McCain.

Glenn interviews GOP Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani

GLENN: So what's your solution? [to illegal immigration]

GIULIANI: My solution is close the border to illegal immigration.

GLENN: How do you do that?

GIULIANI: You do that by building a fence, a physical fence and a technological fence, and the technological fence is more important than the physical fence. The technological fence would alert you to illegals approaching the border well in advance so the border patrol can get there and stop them. You deploy the border patrol every 50 miles along the border. I've already outlined this on a map. I did this in detail about two weeks ago. And then you have the border patrol stop people from coming in, literally stop them from coming in. If you did that for a year or two, you would end it. You also have a tamperproof ID card that every person from a foreign country should have that comes into the United States. The goal has to be, yes, you're allowed to come to the United States but you have to identify yourself before we let you in, and we have to be sure you're a safe person. And then if you come in, you'll be in the computer base, you'll be able to work, you will have to pay your fair share, you'll have to pay taxes but we have to end it right at the border by having the resources to stop people from just walking into this country and not identifying themselves. Only the federal government can do this. If the federal government doesn't do this, there is no way that the local governments in this country can handle it other than in a practical way. If you make people that are just going to be here for the next 20 years, if you put them in a situation of danger and risk, you're going to have more crime in your communities.

Here Giuliani is essentially arguing for an open border. All you have to do is check in at the border with your ID card, come on in, and go right to work. It's the 'not identifying themselves' part that Giuliani has a problem with. So, if you're a foreigner, and announce yourself, come on in! This is even worse and more naive than the current Amnesty Republican plan.

The last part of his comment here is remarkably specious: local communities have no right to address the problem, and anything they do, like create apartment rental restrictions, job requirements, etc., will force illegal aliens to commit crime. Sheesh.

Neither Giuliani nor McCain get it about why we feel so strongly about illegal immigration, regardless of how it happens. For anyone who believes these men somehow have 'heard' us or changed their view on the matter, is deluding themselves. All they're doing is scrambling to put another strand on the pig.

I don't see how "America's Mayor" can possibly be appealing to "conservatives." He is on the fringe on too many issues. The more he keeps talking, the more he pushes away those who had a glimmer of support at some level. The election is still along way off. I'd like to know what our "radio goddess" is thinking, if she had to vote today. Tammy???

Posted by: Axe50 [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 02:51 AM

Rudy and John dont get it because they are both "progressive" or left wingers.
Besides spending $millions of taxpayers money to protect criminal aliens from the feds when he was Mayor - Rudy also spend $millions to deprive them of their rights "established" by the Bill of Rights.
Tammy one of those rights should be as near and dear to you as it is to me. The Second Ammendment. Rudy like most "progressives" thinks the Constitution is no longer valid as it was writen by a bunch of old, dead white men.

Rudy has no problem today telling lies about what he did 10 - 15 years ago But look at who suppports him and you can see he is still the same ACLU/progressive anti BIll of Rights guy he was then. The MSM tends to overlook his lies because they support his heart felt beliefe that the Constitution is out of date and should be ignored. Which is why the MSM attacked Mitt a month ago when he had an add that dared to tell the uninformed what Mayor Rudy actually did as Mayor! The nerve!

And I am not envious of the hundreds of women other than his wives he has f***ed while Mayor. We expect that from Mayors. It is a given, he just was more successful than most.
Another indication of how far to the left Rudy is and why the MSM favors him is his 20 year relationship with Hugo Chavez. Need I say more?!@#%!?

Posted by: Rod [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 04:27 AM

This is a deciding factor. Closing and defending our borders, and effectively dealing with criminal/illegal aliens is of the utmost importance to me. And allowing local communities to LEGALLY deal with their own ILLEGAL immigrant problems is necessary to remove incentives and is, therefore, critical to the fight.

Giuliani is officially off my list. Period.

Posted by: Kimj7157 [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 06:23 AM

He's a global warming believer too.

Adios Rudy!

Republicans are fleeing the battlefield. Twenty-some Republican Senate seats up for reelection in '08. Fred Thompson wheezing through his announcement ad. Who knows how many more Republicans will be pulled out of the closet. One of Mitt Romney's arms is sure to fall off revealing him to be a department store mannequin under a spell.

There's an avalanche forming. This is going to hurt.

Posted by: pat_s [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 07:06 AM

And Giuliani is who you are leaning towards, Tammy? I still can't wrap my mind around that one (I've heard you say it on your radio show).

My gosh, I thought I would have a leisurely cup of coffee this morning while checking in at tb.com to see what new posts you made. After reading what Giuliani said, my blood is now BOILING. They think we're stupid. That's all there is to it. It's an insult, plain and simple. And the ignorant masses (even many who claim to be conservative) just nod their head in agreement to such lies as, "we can't deport 12 million people"...UGH! It's so disgusting. Meanwhile a good man like Tom Tancredo is being ignored by the media and almost every pundit as a non contender!

If we SAY we care about these things, if we CLAIM to care, we BETTER stop whistling dixie and stand behind the REAL conservative, or we will just get more of the same and will only have ourselves to blame!

Immigration, Iraq, footbaths in the airports, senators in the bathroom, draftdodgers in the Whitehouse----Tammy's bloggers, albeit well intentioned political activists and patriots, trying to make sense of everything. It's too late. Every one of you should go out and buy lots of bottled water, toilet paper and dried foods. If you really want to be concerned about something that is going to affect you in the very near future, worry about the shortage and rising costs of ammunition. You should really quit worrying about things as you wish they were and focus----focus on what is coming our way and what you will need to survive. How can you even contemplate saving America when you see what our overall leadership has become. It's time to get real. It is what it is and we are guilty of lettintg it (them) take us too far into the land of political correctness, moral relativism and Hollywood disdain and contempt for patriotism, gratefullness and grace. I volunteered for Vietnam but I never volunteered for this---but, I'll defend my country at age 60 just as I foolishly believed I was doing at age 20. The only difference is that this time I have a grasp of reality and I know what's happening.

And now that I've written this I wonder---why bother? Will this be the document that they present to me in the dark of night when they round us up for re-education or "political" inquiry? I worry about my children and yours. What have we done to them with 58 trillion debt, and a Clinton/Bush dyansty? And how bout that Jeb Bush? Ain't he something? But, that's 5 years away. Lordy, lordy, lordy. Ain't we somethin'.

Posted by: jdb [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 10:32 AM

Adios Rudy for me, also. I can't help but to sound like a Daily Kos-type when I think about the damage that this Bush-Rove party has wrought upon our blessed country, the United States of America.

[b]Not choosing Rudy is only the beginning.[/b]

Posted by: whitney [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 11:12 AM

For everyone, and girlsgotrhythm, yes, the romance is more than fading. While I don't vote a single issue anymore, (the survival of our country in this war is issue #1) obviously border security is part of that. I still, though, don't like Romney, and from what I've seen of Thompson, I'm not impressed. What a disappointment...

Posted by: Tammy [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 11:16 AM

To try to put this revelation from Rudy in the best light possible- We conservatives all have a year +, to change those illegal immigrant views of his.
Honestly, it seems like he is resigned to the fact already of 12 million illegals, who may vote next year, also illegally.

The second tier candidates like Huckabee and Tancredo can't get traction nationally, despite the mood of our nation supporting the border fence, and stopping illegal immigration.

For Guiliani to actually say "If you make people that are just going to be here for the next 20 years, if you put them in a situation of danger and risk, you're going to have more crime in your communities," tells voters that he is throwing up his hands to the situation, regardless of what we voters say. Sort of "Let's all just ignore this, and maybe it will go away".

Build the damn fence!, and then let the chips fall where they may-- but secure our borders! NOW!

Posted by: localmalcontent [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 01:01 PM

If Guiliani doesn't get the border and illegal immigration issue by now, it ain't gonna happen. If he did up and change his view in the next 16 months, I wouldn't trust him to do the right thing once/if elected.

LOCALMALCONTENT: I want "Build the damn fence!" on a t-shirt.:)

Rudy will not be the next president; whether he receives the GOP nomination is another, though now academic, question.

His open borders belief has sealed his fate. Unless a renewed vigor seizes the GOP and produces a conservative candidate, or Thompson begins to understand the 1st Amendment, it is Hillary in '08.

At least four years of preening and crowing from the Socialist Left, major tax increases ("It's FAIR!!), Federal intrusion into private life and local government, and the seeds of a civil unrest unseen since 1861.

Nice job Rudy. Thanks a lot.

Giuliani's law firm is the exclusive representation for the company that bought the expansion and/or right of way that will be part of the SPP "super highway" from Mexico to the US. I'm trying to find the website to post it here. It's no wonder that Giuliani is in support for any of the SPP type of projects; when I saw that it explained a lot of things; the "Mayor" has been a very busy boy after 9-11 and I'm sure having the blessing of George Bush's administration is the reason.

I certainly wish his background would be exposed by his political opponents so we can see what a problem he'll be in the fuutre.

It's like GW Bush isn't the conservative people thought he'd be.

I refuse to support such a world expansionist as Rudy is blatantly now.

Posted by: whitney [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 02:24 PM

Rudy is a "party(R)" man. Like the earlier comment that if Rudy doesn't get that this is THE issue of the coming election, how can this clueless man be prez? In this election, I'm a ONE ISSUE VOTER!!!Screw you, R's and D's!!!I'm voting for the candidate who well fix this problem once and for all. You notice Rudy or the rest of the R&D's never say the employers of illegals are the problem!!!

Posted by: radargeek [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 04:30 PM

A year ago, I was very excited about the prospect of Guiliani running. That excitement was lost by the time he actually decided to run. Believe me, it hurt to let go because I have long felt he would be the only candidate who could knock the crap out of Hillary - or really, any of the Dems in the running.

But should my goal be to vote for the person who can beat the Dem nominee, or for the person who has the best vision for this nation?

I don't want someone to just 'win'. We did that already - enough of that s**t! I want our next president (and all future ones) to take this country to unknown plateaus - not to just toss us to chance or to the lowest level of Hell. I want this country to thrive for future generations. I want my boy, my nieces & nephews, to be able to have the freedom to do with their lives as they wish. I want to see this nation preserved for those who have no where else in this world to call home due to all the darkness lurking over entire hemispheres - including our own. I want someone who has the GUTS to confront the domestic and international threats to us, and there may very well be a few of the more quiet candidates who can come through IF WE DON'T DISMISS/GIVE UP ON THEM FIRST!

Though one would think whoever beats Hillary (or whomever) would naturally have the best vision, the truth is - no they don't! Some just want the power for the sake of having power. It is up to us to DEFINE this election instead of allowing the trail of the almighty $$$ to take it away from us.

No, there's not a great deal of excitement in the Rep candidates right now & I've been done w/ the party for a long time myself. But there are a few 'quiet' candidates that COULD become household names and maybe it's time we give them some help. I like what I have heard from Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter - a lot of us on this site and elsewhere like them. Both men have put their necks on the line and went against the president when it was the right thing to do. I would also not be entirely opposed to having Newt jump in - and it's not too late!

See, there is no HUGE excitement for EITHER side at this point! Just focusing on the big $$$ candidates in either party leaves much to be desired. And if memory serves me well, Bill Clinton was not a well-known candidate at this point prior to his first presidential election. Maybe that's what Hillary meant by 'it takes a village'...

Another thing to think about regarding Guiliani: if he's the nominee, then do not be surprised to see McCain as his running mate or being appointed to a very powerful post - maybe Amnesty Czar or something.

Posted by: artgal [TypeKey Profile Page] at September 8, 2007 05:08 PM

If Guliani ends up as the Republican candidate, I'll hold my nose and vote for him but only as the lesser of two evils. His tap dancing on guns is more than enough to cause me to vote for another, but this? Good grief.

With Guliani, it's all about his ego and it always was. Yes, he did good things in NYC, but that's in large part because his ego needs dovetailed with the policies required at the time and his own liberal social leanings. All he would need to do if he really supported the entire Bill of Rights is to acknowledge that he had to be anti-gun in NYC, but now that he's running for president, he can allow his real respect for the Constitution--all of it--to shine through. I suppose we can respect anyone who sticks by their real beliefs, but he still needs to be electable on the issues.

Tragic that we have no genuine conservatives in the race at the moment. Hopefully, Fred Thompson will fill that gap in the near future. If not, the next five years won't be pretty.

When it comes to illegal immigration, Americans have no idea what they want. As the population of "illegals" has continually increased over the last few decades, the economy has continued to grow, unemployment has shrunk, standards of living have improved and national crime rates have gone down. Demagogues will always be able to whip up outrage over the latest violent crime that happens to make the news, appealing to people's nationalism-fueled xenophobia and sense of entitlement.

But everyday, with their lifestyle choices, their product purchases at the supermarket, their nannies to whom they outsource their parenting, the unscrupulous contractors who upgrade their McMansions, their landscapers, their busboy tips, the entire government debt-ridden Chinese-owned unsustainable public entitlement-sabotaged mess of an economy they've tolerated and yes, their votes - Americans are adamantly pro-illegal immigration.
