Did Anyone Ask the Dog?

shockeddog.jpg

I say Go Girl! I think it was time for that relationship to end. Now if only the dog could move out...

Woman doesn't want dog in bathroom during couple's shower

BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) - A 25-year-old woman was arrested for investigation of second-degree assault for getting into an argument with her boyfriend over whether his dog should be in the bathroom while the couple were taking a shower together.

A police report said the 26-year-old man wanted his dog to join them in the bathroom, but the woman objected on Thursday night.

She told him if the dog wouldn't stay out, she didn't want to be his girlfriend anymore. He replied that maybe his next girlfriend would appreciate the dog more, and called her a name.

The police report said the woman punched him in the face several times and the man dislocated his shoulder when the naked couple grappled. He told police his girlfriend threw a picture frame, which broke and cut him.

The woman was taken to the Kitsap County Jail in Port Orchard. Bail has been set at $50,000.

That bail, IMHO, is ridiculously high. She was provoked. To say nothing of the boyfriend attempting to force pron on the puppy. Isn't that a crime?

Pff, good for her. That's just... well... I'm sure he can find someone on the internet who'll be in to that sort of thing.

As for excessive bail, maybe there are reasons not mentioned in the story? Like lack of ties to the local community or some other basis for the court to deem someone a flight risk?

FYI, standard bond schedule here for misdemeanor battery (the equivalent crime under Florida law) would be $1000.

Let's change the scenario a bit.

Man and woman snuggle in bed. Woman's dog jumps on bed, "again". Woman's hands leave man and pets dog.

Man: "I'm really annoyed that dog keeps jumping on the bed when we're together. Can't you send it out of the room.?"

Woman: She's my dog. We've been together for a long time.

Man: I know, but I just want it to be us now.

Woman: She's like family. I've known her longer than you. If you were a real man, I wouldn't need her.

Man punches woman.

Now would you so dismissively and callously remark he was "provoked"?

"She's like family. I've known her longer than you."

I could obviously say that about my mom, but I wouldn't want her in the room either.

I have to agree with Dave. The feminist push that violence against women is wrong, it has to be a two way street. The fact that the guy wanted the dog in the bathroom was enough said. She should have walked out (having gotten dressed first, of course) and not looked back.

Posted by: Penelope 27 [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 03:24 PM

All of the previous posts have missed the point. These two people should not be together or even in the same building. She has a hair trigger violent streak and he is grossly insensitive (or clueless) about her needs. Tragedy could be in the future if they try to stay together after this.

This guy's an idiot. The girlfriend agreed to the co-ed shower. That's like one of the coolest things a guy can do with his girlfriend. And he insisted on bringing the dog? What- the wet naked lady wasn't enough fun? What a tool. He got what he deserved.

Posted by: Barry in CO [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 12:58 PM

Then you agree so too did the woman in my hypothetical scenario?

I'm not saying the man in the story was "right". I'm arguing against the notion it was alright for the woman to assault him. Sure, get dress and leave would have been appropriate.

Posted by: Hadsil [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 05:05 PM

sorry about that hadsil, i get confused on who posted what.

I do not agree with the hitting of the woman, no, but i also do not agree with the woman hitting the man.

We get the men doing violence against women shoved down our throat, but little is said about woman's violence toward men, nay, it is usually deemed somehow justifiable or never as bad.

I was raised with the old addage sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. I cannot imagine a verbal insult worth my losing my physical control and striking at someone in order to regain what I imagine they have taken from me.

Posted by: Penelope 27 [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 3, 2008 07:03 PM

While I do believe sometimes violence is exactly what is required, this is not one of those times. You don't punch someone in the face SEVERAL TIMES and throw glass picture frames at them over a disagreement. Did anyone notice the guy dislocated his shoulder - not punching back - but probably just trying to keep her from swinging! Sure he was wrong about the dog (and the name calling!) but he displayed some decency by not punching her back.

Then again who knows, maybe he just got his ass kicked, lol. I'm just sayin'.

Good gosh, my cats walk in and out of every sort of, um, "activity" constantly. It's actually the source of a good laugh these days.

In my humble op-onion, they guy IS kind a goofball for "demanding" the dog remain in the bathroom...but unless Fido was actually IN the shower "participating" (ew), then she has as many issues as the guy does.

Bootom line: if THIS discussion ends in fisticuffs, then the relationship was not meant to be. Imagine what would happen when something REALLY important came up, like paying the mortgage, buying bedsheets or (shudder) having children?
