Happy New Year Open Thread

Invisible Champagne Cat courtesy of icanhascheezburger

I expect you to go forth and Comment about 2008, babes, kittehs, and whatever else is on your mind(s). I am especially interested in what your resolutions are. :)

I certainly expect to post a bit more, but after about 8pm PT I'll be out of the loop.

Have a great New Year's Eve everyone, and please be careful out there. See you, as they say, next year!

In the meantime, here are some links with which you can bid adieu to 2007:

I think I'll resolve to ogle more babes.

In that vein, I hope you'll post more babes to ogle. It seems of late that a paucity of babes have made it into your blog. How about the 2008 Babe-athon...a babe a day for a week. You pick the week, you pick the babes, and all us babe-aholics will have an oglefest.

Maybe a Kitteh Week, too.

And a Very Happy New Year To You To!! Let us go forth and party..2008 here we come!!!!!

Posted by: Trinity [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 03:48 PM

I resolve to make Tammy mine and build my life around her. And because she so deserves and pleasures it, I also resolve to continue to send my 98-year old grandmother fresh-cut flowers every week.

Posted by: predoc [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 04:41 PM

Have a great New Years Eve too, Tammy !

For 2008 : May Al Gore melt away along with his theory of global warming.
That we find bin Laden and drop a hand grenade down into his spider hole.

While he still has an entire year to do something productive for America, may the space aliens please return the old G.W. Bush back.

Keep posting the babes Tammy, they are a nice distraction from the madness of every day life. You still need to put out LOTS from your photo shoot that you had done this past year ;)

Resolutions ??? Control my temper, stop jumping to conclusions about things, spend more time reading and not thinking about sex 24/7.....

Your turn Tammy :)

Speaking for myself, I gave up on the notion of waiting for New Years as a starting point for resolutions some years ago.

Far too often, people make New Years Resolutions - often in good conscience - but never carry them through. Whether because of unplanned circumstances, bad planning, or just bad luck, they fail... sometimes in March or April. Sometimes in February... sometimes sooner.

So what do they say? "I'll try again *next year*."

If something is worth resolving to do/not do -- I will exercise more, eat less, whatever -- then why wait for the arbitrary first day of the first month to begin?

Why not begin -today- whether that is Decemeber 31, April 11, May 22, or whatever. And if you fail, well pick yourself up and start again tomorrow.

Why wait?

May we all have a safe, prosperous and happy New Year!

Resolutions:

1) Finish remaining 20-30 pages in Tammy book.
2) Get job.
3) Pay off credit cards.
4) Watch "No Country for Old Men" tonight.
5) Lose lots of weight and reclaim old wardrobe.
6) Teach the dog to walk on a leash for once and for all.

At least one of these things will be over tonight, creating that necessary sense of accomplishment.

Happy New Year everyone. Hope we all have good luck with resolutions.

Posted by: Poodle [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 07:04 PM

Well, as far as resolutions go, there are lots of things I want to accomplish in 2008, but my primary focus is on two things:

1. Lose those unwanted pounds I resolved to lose in 2007, 2006, etc.

2. Finish and polish three screenplays and start shopping them around.

I want to wish you, Tammy, and the rest of the peeps a very Happy 2008. May we individually and as a nation find peace, prosperity, happiness and health.

Oh, and let's have some fun too, shall we? ;)

Happy 2008, Tammy. I've really enjoyed discovering your blog this year. :)

Posted by: fiona [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 09:21 PM

Read the Dave Barry thing and laughed so hard, it was a good thing I wasn't eating or drinking at the time, I would have choked!
Happy New Year to Tammy and everybody! Let's hope 2008 will be better (and also hope we find the last unicorn!)!

Posted by: ladykrystyna [TypeKey Profile Page] at December 31, 2007 09:47 PM

I made a "commitment" to lose 113.5 lbs in Dec '05 and have lost 70 lbs since just doing the basics. Good food & excercise. I have 43.5 more to go.

I agree with Charlie. Everyday should be a new day of commitment despite the obstacles that come our way. I know it sounds cliche but it works for me: "Today is the first day of the rest of your life".

May this new year bring us the power to truly commit to our commitments!!

HAPPY 2008!!! GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS & GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

CLEANING HOUSE FOR 20008

Last Week I threw out Worrying, it was getting old and in the way.

It kept me from being me; I couldn't do things God's way.

I threw out a book on MY PAST
(Didn't have time to read it anyway).

Replaced it with NEW GOALS, started reading it today.

I threw out hate and bad memories,
(Remember how I treasured them so)?

Got me a NEW PHILOSOPHY too, threw out the one from long ago.

Brought in some new books too, called I CAN, I WILL, AND I MUST.

Threw out I might, I think and I ought.
WOW, you should've seen the dust.

I ran across an OLD FRIEND, I hadn't talked to in a while.

His name is GOD the Father, and I really like His style.

He helped me to do some cleaning and added some things Himself.

Like PRAYER, HOPE, FAITH and LOVE,
Yes I placed them right on the shelf.

I picked up this special thing and placed it at the front door.

I FOUND IT- its called PEACE. Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice.

Looks good around the place.

For things like Worry and Trouble there just isn't any space.

It's good to do a little house cleaning,
Get rid of the things on the shelf.

Special message for Tammy & friends:

After serious & cautious consideration.....your contract of friendship has been renewed for the New Year 2008! So try not to screw it up!!!

My Wish for You in 2008

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet of $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had forget your home address! In simple words ............

May 2008 be the best year of your life!!!

PEACE & LOVE :)

Nothing more pointless than New Years resolutions, however one thing I decided I wanted to do last month was not to be cowed by people (100% of the time Leftists in my home town of NYC) who try to drag me into political conversations. The arrogance of just assuming that a total stranger agrees with your political positions just because you (the Lefty) thing that you are so moral and any decent person can see your logic is beyond arrogance. IF 2004 was any test, then 2008 in NYC (or living in any "Blue" - how I hate that term - state will put me to the test. My office is full of Republican haters.

Posted by: Ripper [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 05:48 AM

LOL, Predoc, maybe you should read that book, The Secret.

Checklist of things I'd like to accomplish in 2008:

-Get Bob Hering elected to Congress (there may be a job in D.C. for me if that happens).

-Tidy my apartment on an occasional but regular basis

-Try to be more sociable & make more friends (do I have to?)

-Be more productive and organized

-Meet a few more Tammy peeps and perhaps even...

Man, I'm glad there are 366 days in this year, I'm going to need every last one of them.

Posted by: ashleymatt [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 09:41 AM

For "DEM because I say so.." :"My Wish for You in 2008" sounds like an Irish blessing. For you, "May you be in Heaven a half an hour before the devil knows you are dead."

BA in LA (Is that Los Angeles or Louisiana??)

Thanks for the 30 minutes of Bliss!! LOL!!

GOOD ONE!!

Happy New Year, Everybody!

OK, here's my resolution(s), one of which I've already broken for 2008 - guess which one was already broken...

1) Eat healthier
2) Be more organized w/ my time
3) Be more patient
4) Get into desired PhD program
5) Be a better person overall

Hope everyone is having a great start to the new year. Should be a very active year for us all!

Much love!

A Happy and prosperous New Year to you, Tammy, and all your family on this site!

Dave Barry is ALWAYS a HOOT! This one was no different...

As for the other links, well, only on a globe inhabited by humans would there be a need to write about the best "idiots", egad...and humans never disappoint, do they? There's one always ready to step up to the plate and prove him/herself an idiot! Ah, humans!

No resolutions made. Why does it take a special day to vow to improve one's self? May we all take personal responsibility for our actions, to ourselves and others. Every day.

Spent our evening at home, safe, could have stayed up to watch the annual fireworks on Pike's Peak, but figured the New Year had already hit New York City, two hours previously, so why bother? It would come whether we watched or not. Watching the falling-ball being watched by mind-numbed people via tape-delay has always been a non-event!

Woke to a beautiful but frigid, Colorado blue sky & sunshine morning, with no regrets!

God's Blessings to all...

Tammy--Wishing you, your pets, and Snuffy a happy new year. May Bob Beckel lose his voice, having already lost his mind. And may Charlize Theron and Heather Graham inspire us in the new year. Randy.

Posted by: RandyGrHa [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 1, 2008 06:53 PM

the 1st day of 2008- i pulled in front of the pakistan consulate in my red, white and blue mini van with "kill bin laden" on one side and "get osama" on the other. the consulate was closed but i got some video of my sign "pakistan- give up osama" and two plates "axalqada" and "getosama" held up to their consulate general sign. i protested in front for 90 min. and took some cell ph pics of my sign next to their consulate license plate on one of their cars. i let the cops know i'd be back over the next few weeks as i glanced back at their flag hanging over 65 street. i knew then, at some point i'd be buying and shredding a pakistani flag in front of their window sometime in 2008. happy new year to all.

I found Tammy on C-Span in July speaking to the young republicans. Since then I am grateful that I discovered you and your blog. My resolution is to live a more authentic life. I really admire that you live your life with so much honesty. I hope I can start doing the same in '08. Actually the only part of my life that I have not been honest about is that I am gay. Should be an interesting year...
