McCain's Arrogance on Full Display at CPAC

Extraordinary. A man who represents the antithesis of what President Reagan stands for has apparently produced as video of President Reagan to introduce him to the CPAC crowd. Let's hope McCain follows through and does it. And let's hope he gets a taste of what the 'nativist, racist, lazy, vigilante' unwashed masses really think of him.

McCain Didn’t Close the Deal

One source told me last night that McCain is planning an all-out push at CPAC. At 3 pm tomorrow, McCain is scheduled to address the crowd expected to number over 6,000 activists. And McCain plans a very special introduction.

According to my source, McCain has prepared a video featuring President Ronald Reagan to make the introduction. If McCain uses this video, it is very likely to backfire badly. This is the group before which Ronald Reagan said in 1975 that, “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers.”

Very few of the 2008 CPAC crowd will see McCain as the successor to Reagan and Reagan’s principles. McCain has sacrificed conservatives’ fundamental beliefs throughout his Senate career. If McCain uses this introduction, the boos will be very loud.

Let's hope so.

"The simple truth is that we've lost control of our own borders, and no nation can do that and survive. We ignore America's lost sovereignty at our peril."
- Ronald Reagan
"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life."
- John F Kennedy

If McCain goes through with the video idea, I hope the CPAC crowd boos him vociferously.

How dare he try to compare himself to Ronald Reagan.

McCain trying to invoke Reagan? I thought the media told us the Reagan Revolution was dead...

Right now, there are very few Republicans worthy of the Reagan mantle, and not a one of them ran for President. That's because the Reagan mantle isn't something to be bestowed. You either have it within you or you don't. The fact McCain is having to try to invoke Reagan as a means to smooth over the hard feelings that he's generated over the years shows conclusively that McCain doesn't have it within him.

I have to make a quick run for my bag everytime I hear one of these scumbag R.I.N.O.s rap themselves up in Uncle Ronnie. You'll know the true conservatives, they're the ones that don't desicrate the name of the greatest President of the 29th century, Tancredo, Hunter, Paul.

Just as John McCain suddenly came to life again after having no status this past summer , let's hope his appearance at CPAC will send him back into vast nothingness. I'm hoping John shows his true colors and has a Howie Dean moment during his speech.
Mitt Romney is due to speak at 12:30. Lets hope he blows the room away and when McCain speaks later in the day lets hope the room blows him away. True Reagan conservatives will not tolerate McCain as our choice to 'fix' Washington. He's part of the problem, not the solution.

You're so right; at least, I certainly agree; surely hope there's a video feed of the speech in real time somewhere, so we can really hear and watch the CPAC give the big greet to him.

Just went over to CSPAN and they have it scheduled for 3PM ET; so it's being covered and televised.

As of my writing this, the field has narrowed to Hillarity, O'Bomber, and McCain. I certainly don't want to see another Clinton presidency, and I cringe at the thought of a Hussein in the White House. Unfortunately, since McCain has told us he plans to sacrifice the American economy on the alter of Global Warming,
www.johnmccain.com/Informing/News/OpEds/34010479-7B58-4AFE-9BA0-FDB6B4708D5E.htm
. . . I am at a loss to see any substantive difference between him and his two rivals.

I eagerly await the imminent discovery of a suitable alternative for 2012, if we even make it that far. Though why no one has been looking for the last 8 years is beyond me.

(What about John Bolton? I actually respect him!)
