Howard Dean Endorses McCain

The new McCain ad for the general election

Even though he didn't really mean to.

Howard Dean 2004: The Medals Matter

"The real issue is this," Dean said in March 2004, when endorsing formal rival Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., "Who would you rather have in charge of the defense of the United States of America, a group of people who never served a day overseas in their life, or a guy who served his country honorably and has three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star on the battlefields of Vietnam?"

McCain, by the way, has been awarded the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Star Medals, a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Here's the new John McCain ad, btw, launched in New Mexico for the general election.

Actually, about 90% of American CITIZENS want someone who will secure our ports and borders, enforce our immigration laws so there is deportation by attrition, and make us successful traders, not deficit builders. That would NOT be MCAMNESTY. I have to say either Democrat would seem to be better on protecting American jobs, not selling out companies with disastrous "free" trade agreements, and not pursuing endless wars all over the world with no clue how to fund them. Then there is the factor of McAmnesty's age, health, and recklessness (nothing to lose) versus the Democrat's worry about a second term and a successful legacy. I will be voting Constitution Party, but I'm just sayin', don't archive your "McCain Campaign Death Watch" link--you may very well need it this fall.

Who is the Constitution Party candidate?

"...either Democrat would seem to be better on protecting American jobs, not selling out companies with disastrous "free" trade agreements"

Trade creates jobs. It creates wealth. It decreases prices. It's called comparative advantage and it is a positive-sum game. Yes, some people get hurt, but more people benefit. There is no serious dispute about this: we're talking the basics of what Adam Smith was writing about 200 years ago. But please, if you want to turn modest downturns into a depression, go ahead and back those who would bring us Smoot-Hawley version 2.0.

"I will be voting Constitution Party, but I'm just sayin'..."

But I'm just sayin', some of us live in the real world.

The real world is that other countries have the tariffs and barriers to our goods, and our dopes let them ship here duty free without inspection for anything from disease to bombs, and without regard to the tremendous costs the shippers dump on the taxpayers. That is called a sellout in the real world. Enjoy MexAmeriCanada, your shiny new (non-gold) Amero, and your unemployment status, since you won't mind getting hurt, "Real World." You are just what the establishment parties want.

You are making me into a strawman, sir. Just because I do not believe in making the perfect the enemy of the good, does not mean I support what you've talked about in your second comment.

Posted by: Dave J [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 10:21 AM

I hope they have howard dean on tape making those statements ... it would be a KILLER TV ad if they do.

Posted by: ConnecticutBruce [TypeKey Profile Page] at March 29, 2008 09:58 PM

I want to believe in this guy but...his open borders policy and alliance with such crackpots as Ted Kennedy and Lindsey Graham concerns me greatly.

I ask a favor of everyone who listens to and supports Tammy.

PLEASE email McCain, as I plan to do, and stress to him that we will STAY HOME on election day if he does not make a sincere pledge, coupled with a detailed plan, to stop illegal immigration, which includes building a physical (not "virtual") border fence and punishing employers oF illegal aliens. And, oh yeah, NO AMNESTY! Thanks.
