The new governor of New York appears to be as pathetic as the last one. And this man has the gall to take the office after knowing the circumstances that brought him to it. Astounding. I'm simply speechless.

Gov. Paterson admits to sex with other woman for years

The thunderous applause was still ringing in his ears when the state's new governor, David Paterson, told the Daily News that he and his wife had extramarital affairs...In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with "a woman other than my wife," beginning in 1999...

Given the call-girl scandal that erupted last week and forced Spitzer's stunning resignation, Paterson conceded that top government officials are bound to come under closer scrutiny for their personal actions.

The governor flatly denied what he called a "sporadic rumor in Albany that I had a love child" by another woman. "That's just not true," he said.

"Don't you think he'd take care of a child if he'd had one?" Michelle Paterson said, in obvious disgust over that persistent rumor. Asked if he had stayed with anyone else since 2001 at the same West Side hotel, Paterson said, "From time to time I used to take Michelle to that hotel."

Please read the whole thing. You simply can't make up this stuff.

Amazing... I am actually at a loss for words to describe the arrogance and narcissistic tendencies of these politicians. You can't make this up!

I guess he figured if he got it out now no one would be able to blackmail him over it tomorrow.

Seems that a litmus test for politicians now should be; have you ever paid for sex? have you had an affair with someone while you were married? We just want to know what kind of a sleezeball we are working with?

Loved his line about claiming that he never used public funds in his dalliances. Want to prove to be an ethical philanderer.

Just unbelievable arrogance.

Europeans love to laugh at America's sex habits and don't pass up any opportunity to do so. Even in Europe a Democrat sex scandal is an opportunity to berate Republicans about family values. Anyway, here's a view from Germany. You know, where all those famously uninhibited people live.

I agree with Skeptic that Patterson put this info out as some sort of preemptive strike against it coming out later. Nevertheless, it's still very disheartening that infidelity and lying is what we now expect.

When it comes to morality, I don't expect perfection or someone sprouting a halo, but I do expect people to be who they present themselves to be. If you say you're monogamous, be monogamous. If you're in an open relationship and it works for the both of you, well that's your choice. Just don't present yourself as one thing while living another way in private.

I’m having trouble understanding the mechanics of this. The man cannot drive, read, or write, so someone must have been helping the blind politician with this endeavor.

I’m thinking if I’m his caretaker, and he gets in the car and says, “Yeah, take me to the Days Inn, so I can meet my lady.” I’d be like “Uh, no. You have a doctor’s appointment, you old blind bat.”

Or I’d just drive him to the hotel where his wife was playing with her boy toy and strand him there for a few hours, then pick him up and say: “Oops, I guess she didn’t show up! Did you smell anything familiar there?”

I was wondering this too, how could he finagle an affair w/o everyone in his office knowing about it?

The feminist in me is disturbed by the fact that his wife is attractive and he is not. You'd never see the reverse, a good looking guy married to an unattractive blind woman. I'm just saying.

Hmmm,maybe he thought it was his wife he was in bed with, but due to his blindness,just assumed it was her....and later he found out it was a random stanger he had slept with and so his wife then cheated on him out of revenge?? Hey,it coulda happened that way!
