It's Palin!

** Tammy Radio Note: I will have full, live Dayton press conference coverage for you at the top of the show starting at 12p ET. Scroll down for regular updates**

**My post on Palin's nomination, "A Daring Choice," is now live at the Fox Forum. Please take a look. :)

I have to admit, I did not give him enough credit.

Alaska Gov. Palin to be Named as McCain Running Mate

John McCain will introduce Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his vice presidential running mate at an event here at noon Friday, senior campaign sources confirmed to FOX News.

Palin emerged earlier in the day as the hot name in the VP sweepstakes after reports circulated that two short-listers — Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty — were out of the running...Palin is considered a rising star in the Republican Party. She is the state’s first female governor, the mother of five — and at 44 is its youngest chief executive.

FOX News confirmed Thursday that McCain had made his selection and would appear with his pick at the Dayton rally.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's Official Site

(Be patient. As you can imagine, it's been jammed lately :)

The folks aver at the Hillary Forum are stoked. Update: After clear access all day, the Hillary peeps now want you to register. Easy enough to do and a group worth keeping in touch with as we move closer to what will indeed be a historical election--a woman will be Vice-President :)

At the Dayton rally it looks like Cindy will introduce McCain and then he will introduce Palin. Good stuff.

TIme: Why McCain Picked Palin

McCain camp responds to Obama's belittling of Palin pic.

It is pretty audacious for the Obama campaign to say that Governor Palin is not qualified to be Vice President. She has a record of accomplishment that Senator Obama simply cannot match. Governor Palin has spent her time in office shaking up government in Alaska and actually achieving results -- whether it’s taking on corruption, passing ethics reform or stopping wasteful spending and the ‘bridge to nowhere.’ Senator Obama has spent his time in office running for President.

B. Hussein and his mob are now in damage control after their petty and insulting initial response to the Palin nomination. I guess they realized insulting small town Americans (again!) and women (again!) gave people too much of a peek behind the curtain.

“We send our congratulations to Governor Sarah Palin and her family on her designation as the republican nominee for Vice President. It is yet another encouraging sign that old barriers are falling in our politics. While we obviously have differences over how best to lead this country forward Governor Palin is an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign."

Losers.

Wow. I must admit, I love what she brings to the table...let's see how the concept of a female VP flies with nuts and bolts of the electoral flotsam out there.

Posted by: PeteRFNY [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:08 AM

Yes!! I'm all in. I threw my hopes for her out the window because I didn't think he would do it. I cannot wait to see the Left twisiting in the wind over this.

I will pay McCain the ultimate compliment and put a McCain/Palin sticker on my car and a sign in my yard.

Our first official new generation Reagan Conservative rises! Who new it would be a woman! There will be more to come.

Posted by: Tink [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:21 AM

I believed that McCain was a maverick but I figured his idea of a revolutionary choice was going to be picking someone like Joe Lieberman. If Palin lives up to her reputation, I don't think we have to worry about her standing up to anything the Dems fling at her.

Posted by: marleed [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:25 AM

I'm elated. What courage!!

Posted by: lnbee [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:28 AM

It is exciting, isn't it?

Posted by: LongviewCyclist [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:35 AM

Brilliant!!! I liked her from the beginning. But, the strategy here, at this time in the election, is completely brilliant.

Posted by: NavajoSierra [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:35 AM

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Outstanding choice. I wrote the campaign that "To Win, Palin", and apparently they read it. I've been writing every conservative organization, from the ACU to the RNC that what America wants is a conservative POTUS. We do not want "Dem Lite", that's NOT what's going to win. I simply pray that this will take us in the right direction. We've gone to far left as a nation to go completely back in one shot, but a nudge here and a push there we'll come back on line.

Posted by: cmblake6 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:44 AM

This energizes me like nothing else! Fantastic!

Posted by: Deenie [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:46 AM

I am so excited right now! What an amazing lift to the tone of this campaign. Palin is an incredibly accomplished and remarkable human being. She is smart, tough, and will probably be the most real and genuine person to ever hit Washington. As far removed from the Washington status quo as you could get. Just from what I've read, and after seeing and listening to her a couple of times on the tube, Palin is a FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH. I think she'll make mincemeat out of Biden in the debate. Can't wait!!! :)

Posted by: Kimj7157 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:47 AM

Fantastic news!!! I was truly elated. I was considering whether or not to intern for McCain in my area, but now I think I'm definitely going to do it. Nice job Johnny :-) Thank God he didn't chose another old white man from Washington.

Posted by: shkoder14 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:49 AM

I think it was more calculating than courageous but a great choice in any case. Now let's watch the phony feminists squirm.

Posted by: pat_s [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:54 AM

Wow...this is making me re-think the whole election, now.

Why is it that Democrats are always stressing diversity, yet it's the Republicans who pick the best candidate regardless of gender or race? We have Rice, and now McCain has Palin...

Just a thought from a recovering liberal

Posted by: Valerie [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:56 AM

This pick takes the wind out of Obama's sails. It will make it harder for him to attack her for fear of pissing off women, if he wants to attack the experience issue, that's risky because of his own problems there, and she has actually attempted reform while he just talks about it.

And, on a superficial personal note, she does have that sexy, bookish librarian thing going on. Four years of looking at her and Cindy is fine by me. ;)

Posted by: Kelly [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:00 AM

Barry can harp about change all he wants but Palin is the only one on either ticket that truly represents it.

Posted by: DogOnCrack [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:06 AM

Shhh! Listen. Did you hear that? That tiny little smoochy sound? That was Barack Obama kissing his political leap-frogging skinny butt goodbye.

Posted by: Idiot#3 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:08 AM

CNN and some of the other usual suspects are already trying to dig up dirt on Palin. Local radio coverage here even had the nerve to question her experience. Excuse me...?

Posted by: PeteRFNY [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:11 AM

I was saying Romney for so long, but I began to feel this wave of emotions when they started showing Sarah's picture (after hearing that Mitt and Pawlenty were out).

Now I'm totally excited. This is so great to pull the rug right out from under the unDemocratic Party.

She's going to be a rock star. Our next Vice President is going to be a conservative woman. Shove it, Gloria Steinem!

Posted by: ashleymatt [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:17 AM

This definately makes it a whole lot easier to vote for McCain.

Posted by: DogOnCrack [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:22 AM

DYNAMIC! And, Johnny, one of the best speeches you've ever made.
I'll save us all from repeating her qualifications, but Governor Palin covers all bases for a Grand Slam.

Posted by: Shawmut [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:33 AM

John Roberts, CNN, wonders aloud (bottom of page) if there's reason for concern because caring for a Down's Syndrome child takes up so much time.

Posted by: pat_s [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:53 AM

Are you really surprised by the Obama camp reaction? For the Obama campaign to question someone ELSE'S experience takes big, shiny, brass ones.

What a speech! If Palin were the one running for President she'd have MY vote!

Posted by: PeteRFNY [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:54 AM

She has more executive experience then Barry Hussein Obama. It knocks BHO off the front page a day after his coronation.

Posted by: Ripper [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 10:11 AM

Obama has already released a "LIST"..picking on a Governor with an 80% approval rating...!

Obama lacks judgement, and does not have the temperment to be President.

He keeps this up, and he may get more than 18 million democratic votes in November. Just my opinion.

Posted by: jpokergman [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 10:17 AM

!!!WOW!!!

I like her so much. Cool beans, McCain.
And she Commander-n-Chief of the Alaska National Guard which by the way is on the boarder with the Soviet (oops) Russian expansionist regime. She knows that a gun could come in handy. She knows the many sides of the oil/energy/conservation issues.

She is a Girl Scout (honorary in my book, at least.) She's apple pie.

Posted by: jerocat [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 10:35 AM

Oh yea, one more thing.

She's babe-erific. Her husband really scored.

Posted by: jerocat [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 10:41 AM

O.K. I'm impressed. I didn't give McCain enough credit, and I've changed my mind about voting for Barr (Libertarian). This woman has a track record of routing out corruption, slashing pork out of public budgets (she killed the bridge to nowhere), and pushing through ethics legislation even against her own party's wishes for her to let things be. If the whimpy socialists are afraid of Cheney, they'll be be hiding under their desks when she calls! Finally, I'm all in.

Posted by: mrfixit [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 10:42 AM

Palin 2016!!! This is the best day I've had in ages. It is no longer a hesitant vote for McCain, but an ecstatic vote for Palin. That is change you can believe in.

Posted by: zeeff23 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 10:45 AM

I think she is an excellent choice. On a personal note, please please please find a way to post some pictures of Tammy and Sarah together.

Posted by: Paul From Hamburg [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 11:14 AM

McCain scores again ! I also did not think he had the gumption to choose Sarah Palin but now that he has I am TOTALLY FIRED UP and ready to campaign for him with enthusiasm.
Her speech had me spellbound. Sorry Tammy I turned your show down so I could hear the whole speech ! Wow !
She has what is so lacking in Washington. Integrity, honesty, someone who will put America first, not the party or self interest or gain and will expose and fight corruption when she sees such crap going on. A person with guts. And the fact that this person is a woman makes me very happy and proud.
I loved the go USA chanting and the fact no one in the crowd looked like a stoned, whiney victim. Pumped up !

Posted by: Young American [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 11:25 AM

I LOVE JOHN McCAIN!

I wanted Sarah Palin to be the veep choice, but was hesitant as the Republican party has been squirming, spineless and less than tolerant of us conservatives. McCain didn't merely throw us a bone - he could have done that by giving us Romney, in my view. No, he really listened and he delivered one of the best!

Sarah Palin has far more credentials in her short political career than anything by Obama. She has actually made tough decisions, trounced the Republican establishment and voted against government expansion policies endorsed by the Republican establishment. She has made bold moves as governor, is unapologetically prolife, a lifetime NRA member and stronger than any of the boys who were running in the primaries. And yes, let's see how much the feminist establishment supports her...

A year ago, I thought McCain's career was dead. I could not stand him and was certain not to vote for him once he became the candidate. Now, I can't wait to join the McCain team and start doing the work needed where I live to get McCain elected.

McCain-Palin '08! Thank God!

Posted by: artgal [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 11:35 AM

I live on a political island.

I don't like the ultra right or left, yet I agree with some of of the issues in both camps.

I'm appalled that Gov. Palin is pro-life even in the case of rape & incest. Nothing was mentioned about the life vs. life choice. I'm not completely pro-choice nor pro-life believing that up to about a month, the cluster of cells can be aborted and no immorality has been committed. Once that cluster of cells turns into organs, it's over for me about pro choice. I believe it's immoral to bring an unwanted child in the world so abortion is right vs. right issue and I've tried to seek a moral middle ground. I don't know if I've found it, just hope so.

At least she's a proven reformer of government corruption!

NRA? No problem at all.

Gay rights? At least she's for ending obvious discrimination. Who cares what she believes via her religion. On my island as long as she actually lives what religion-based people proclaim... the golden rule ...instead of speaking out their rear ends and reserving the foulest descriptors in their endless rants & raves about homosexuals.

Better choice than most. Perhaps, the best choice he could have made. They have my vote because I'm not buying the Obama pretense. At least we'll know what we're getting with McCain/Palin.

Posted by: Nonnie [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 11:53 AM

The bestest, bestest news is the smug and haughty confidence the lefty bloggers think this pick gives them.

You have to love a strong woman who owns guns. Oh wait, that's why we love Tammy.

Posted by: infidel [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 12:00 PM

Tammy, you belong in their cabinet DAMMIT!!! a cabinet post!!!....thank you Heddy, it's Hedley!!!!!

Posted by: josai [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 12:23 PM

I like Sarah Palin a lot. She has the one thing Romney doesn't...a personality that exudes genuineness. Not that Mitt is a phony, but he comes off that way sometimes. And we all know what phonies do, they behave like Bill Clinton, they take bribes, and sell out the common good for their own benefit.

Posted by: Idiot#3 [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 12:24 PM

I agree with Pat_S that it was more a calculated choice than a maverick thumb-nosing. I believe McCain waited to see who Obama would pick as his running mate before announcing his own,so he would have a chance to select a VP who could fill the void left by Obama's running mate. With Obama's selection of Joe Biden instead of Hillary Cinton, McCain saw an opportunity to woo some disenfrachised Hillary supporters by choosing a woman as his VP pick. McCain has made it very clear that his intention is to bring many different people into the Republican Party, including independents and Democrats. I view Palin as McCain's attempt to lure Hillary supporters into the GOP. That's why he waited until after Barack Obama announced his choice for running mate. Tammy, you might be reading too much into McCain's pick for VP. Having said all that I still think Sarah Palin is a great choice, regardless of the motives for selecting her. Personaly, I would rather see the roles reversed, where Palin was running for president and McCain would fill the role of a VP with foreign policy experience, the same way Obama and Joe Biden are matched. But overall I am pleased with the GOP ticket and will definitely be voting for McCain/Palin in '08!

Posted by: storytold [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 01:01 PM

The more I see and hear of Sarah Palin the more I like her! The Obama camp is clearly shaken, causing their lashing out. I predict Americans will respond well to her. She's a woman, but in the most complimentary sense she is more of a man than Obama.

Posted by: RandyGH [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 01:05 PM

All Hail Empress of the North! Whether you have any positive influence on McBush regarding important issues (e.g. illegal immigration) remains to be seen. Good luck.

Posted by: laughingatpinheads [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 01:27 PM

I don't care what inspired McCain but she's an awesome choice. Unlike so many of our politicos who talk conservative while chasing pages or pilfering public funds this lady lives by conservative principles. And she is willing to toss the bad guys to the wolves. Man I must admit I didn't think McCain would be this smart. Guess there's still a bite or two left in the old dogfighter.

Posted by: maldain [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 02:40 PM

So happy, so impressed, so pleased to be surprised. I've been for Palin since as long as I'd known about her, but I never quite gave McCain enough credit to believe he'd pick her. For that, he has both my thanks and my apologies. He's shown his true colors as the bold audacious strategist he is: the man who called for the surge years before it became White House policy. This is a game changer.

Ronald Reagan said one day America would elect its first woman president, and she'd be a Republican. I have a feeling we've just met her. I couldn't be more psyched.

Posted by: Dave J [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 05:20 PM

Well Tammy,

It looks like I'm finally on you side, I have no choice but vote for McCain, I love Sara's record and opinions on the issues, & she's HOT! I only have 2 questions.

1. How will this affect her reputation? If the race were Palin Vs McCain my choice would obviously be Palin. In 4 years will she be tagged as an anti-border fence, pro-global warming liberal nut as she runs for the big seat?

2. Who's gonna replace her in a fishing state where oil is pouring out of the ground, contaminating the water & killing people's livelihood? This is a state where we need someone begging us to go in and get this crap out of the ground for their benefit and ours.

Don't get me wrong, I love the thought of a VP who will be bending the big guy's ear on this issue, but what if he doesn’t want to hear it, even if he wants to hear it what if Sara's replacement likes the thought of dead fish & high gas prices?

What the hell am I supposed to do? GAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Rob [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 06:26 PM

This is great news. I am thrilled with Sarah Palin, she is a direct shot at the inexperienced, hollow suit that is Barack Obama. She also stands in direct contrast to the corrupt machine that produced Obama. She took on her party people that were corrupt in Alaska, Obama just took the property that Tony Rezko offered him. She didn't associate with domestic terrorists, she didn't start her career in the living room of unrepentant domestic terrorists.

The first thing out of the Obama campaign was to denigrate Sarah Palin, took them hours to change their message then blamed the workers on his campaign. Nasty, evil, and petty describes the Obama machine.

Palin ads a lot of value to the ticket.

Posted by: Skeptic [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 06:55 PM

Ya know,

Now that I've noodled it for a while how does a Palin/McCain ticket sound?!! That one I can DAMN sure pull the lever for without the need for a disinfectant!

Posted by: Rob [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 07:28 PM

I'm commenting in complete ignorance at the moment, because I don't yet know anything about Palin. The buzz here seems to suggest general approval of her inclinations. A key question: Does she have the skills and backbone to be president? That's one of the major beefs with Obama; that's he's much too green and untested. Does this woman have what it takes to take the reins?

Posted by: Talkin Horse [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:13 PM

This is a new chapter in America. We can all be proud. Sadly, leftist feminists are already trashing Governor Palin with cheap shots based on misinformation. They did the same thing with Condi Rice. Shame on them. And, hey, we don't need them to celebrate Sarah! She stands tall and proud on the strength of her convictions.

Posted by: Pasadena Closet Conservative [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 08:30 PM

A copy of Sarah Palin's official biography can be found here. She has more "executive" experience than BO, but that wouldn't be hard since he has virtually none. Her main claim to fame is that it appears that she kicks ass and takes names. We could use a little of that in Washington!

“Governor Sarah Palin made history on Dec. 4, 2006, when she took office. As the 11th governor of Alaska, she is the first woman to hold the office.

“Since taking office, her top priorities have been resource development, education and workforce development, public health and safety, and transportation and infrastructure development.

“Under her leadership, Alaska invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding, and implemented the Senior Benefits Program that provides support for low-income older Alaskans. She created Alaskas Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure, and the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy for Alaska.

Pushed ethics, pipeline laws

“During her first legislative session, Governor Palins administration passed two major pieces of legislation — an overhaul of the states ethics laws and a competitive process to construct a gas pipeline.

“Governor Palin is chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She was recently named chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which is charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management. Prior to being named to this position, she served as co-chair of this committee.

City council member, mayor

“Prior to her election as governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor/manager of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business friendly environment, drawing in new industry.

“She has served as chair of the Alaska Conservation Commission, which regulates Alaska’s most valuable non-renewable resources: oil and gas. She was elected by her peers to serve as president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. In this role, she worked with local, state and federal officials to promote solutions to the needs of Alaska’s communities.

Does she have any foreign policy experience? Aside from being the commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard, and negotiating a bit with Canada, nope, but I bet she's a fast learner.

Posted by: marleed [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 09:26 PM

Sarah Palin-now there's a candidate I could really "get behind." Pow!!! hey, you guys have been great... I'll be here all week, don't forget to tip your waitress, ...

I suddenly feel...energized!

Been a long time since the base has been able to say that. Good to say, better to feel.

Posted by: RagingBullmoose [TypeKey Profile Page] at August 29, 2008 10:31 PM

The Left sure moves fast. My teenaged daughter's best friend came over yesterday evening and said his mother told him that Palin owns 4 guns and hates gays. That was it, all she told her son about the woman who would be VP. I told him he could tell his mother, that no, she doesn't hate gays, she opposes gay marriage. And yes, she owns guns and knows how to use them! His mother, needless to say, works for a leftist lobby group that calls itself biparisan. He thought it was especially cool that Palin likes Moose-burgers and ice-fishing.

My sister (lives on Maui) and I marveled how historic it was that someone from Hawaii and someone from Alaska are finally in the running for our country's highest offices. She and I both ditched our Dem roots and are going for McCain (we actually ditched them, though, when Bill Clinton crawled out of the rathole back in 1992). Her husband, in classic Hawaiian form, believes he is for Obama, their native son; but he did ask me if I had heard anything about why Obama never says he's from Hawaii! Obama is only going to be able to bank on that native son loyalty for so long before Hawaiians tell him to go to Chicago, or thereabouts.

President Obama! We might as well get used to it, because McCain just threw this election. Either this pick is a huge blunder, or McCain has no interest in winning. Palin's an inexperienced unknown... she's as qualified as Obama, and that means NOT. He had 2 years to become well known, she doesn't. Palin's educational background is not especially impressive or relevant to the offices in question. It doesn't appear that she's had any military experience. Very little, if any, foreign policy experience. She's not tremendously experienced in ANYTHING. She's been a small town mayor and a TINY state governor for a short time. I wasn't impressed with Howard Dean's gubernatorial experience either. According to the US Census, Alaska's population was 670,000 in 2006. Vermont - 624,000. My small county of Monroe, in upstate NY, is bigger than Alaska -
730,807. I certainly don't count our wonderful female Republican County executive as presidential material. She's really great -
she takes on the New York liberals, including Eliot Spitzer, in the vicious New York political system, and very often prevails. But she's not a presidential figure, and either is Palin. However, Maggy Brooks would be a better choice! Massachusetts is 10 times the size of Alaska. Palin is certainly not prepared to be Commander in Chief, which is a tremendous liability if the
president is an old man with a history of Melanoma. Melanoma is among the most deadly and untreatable Cancers when it recurs. 5% survival rate. And his has recurred several times. What's worse, with this pick, McCain has watered down his greatest asset in this race - experience. What's next?... admitting he doesn't understand economics? She's done some good work and I like her and agree with many of her issue positions. But she's not a "president". And with McCain, we need a "president" in the vice presidency. There are MUCH stronger candidates available. I also don't think this will help enough, to put him over the top. This is a stupid decision, and a catastrophy for the McCain Campaign. I think the race just ended.

Could I be happier? let's see.....naaa!
I'd hoped it was Palin but then her name disappeared from the short list...then BINGO! McCain impressed me. I've gone from having to vote for my dentist over Obama to WANTING to vote for McCain since Saddleback and this Palin nod. Hurrah!!

What a terrific Saturday show, Tammy. The point making me cheer is what a bunch of hypocrites the old-boy network (of either party) has been and how guilty of backstabbing they have been, especially concerning women. Personally, Palin's naming of running mate has buoyed me like nothing else could have. I easily see Sarah as President and moreover, a great one.

Sarah Palin was a great choice, none better, all areas considered. Too bad she can't be on top of the ticket, I was going to vote for McShame, only to stop that Marxist '0'. Now I can vote for him and not have to be drunk or hold my nose.
O'Reilly and his ilk seem to think she was picked to get Clinton's disgruntled voters, I call BS, she was picked to sure up the conservative base that was not happy about voting for Juan McShame. And you say?

I'm commenting in complete ignorance at the moment, because I don't yet know anything about Palin. The buzz here seems to suggest general approval of her inclinations. A key question: Does she have the skills and backbone to be president? That's one of the major beefs with Obama; that's he's much too green and untested. Does this woman have what it takes to take the reins? - TALKING HORSE

Being President is a very tough job, and I can't think of very many past candidates who were really ready for it.

In Palin's case, she will need to learn a lot, but she definitely has the integrity, backbone, and character to be a great future President.

In terms of skills, she is a very good communicator based on her interviews with The Money Honey and with Charlie Rose.

I haven't seen her read from a teleprompter, but without that prop she is much more precise, direct, and responsive than Barack Obama. She is also far more open and transparent; her financial disclosure statements are not the normal fog of obscuration that one expects from a politician.

She has now been Governor of Alaska for almost 21 months, and she has accomplished far more than her predecessor did in 4 years. On energy, she has done more than Congress has done in the past 10 years.

Also, she seems to be a real person, with a sense of humor. And she does have that "naughty librarian" thing going for her.

Tammy, I was just like you in that I first supported Rudy and then Romney and I despised John McCain. I replayed your comments about McCain being a fake conservative driving us into the wall at 80 miles an hour over and over on my radio show and blog.

I wasn't even sure I could vote for McCain until now. I am now so excited and energized about this race in a way that I can't explain. Not only will I vote for him but I will now campaign for him.

I was lobbying for him to pick Palin but to be honest I had absolutely no faith that he would be smart enough or brave enough to pick her. I, like you am so glad I was wrong.
