What a shock. Who knew a genocidal, freakish Commie pit would dare to put plastic in baby formula. Especially after everyone gave them so much love and attention during the Olympics.

FDA: Don’t Use Chinese Infant Formula
Agency Warns of Possible Melamine Contamination in Infant Formula Made in China

Sept. 12, 2008 — The FDA is warning parents and caregivers not to feed infant formula made in China to infants because of possible contamination with melamine, a chemical linked to tainted animal feed last year…Melamine artificially makes milk appear to have more protein; it can cause kidney diseases such as those seen in the Chinese infants, the FDA notes.

In the meantime, USN&WR reports this:

But Janice Oliver, deputy director of the FDA’s food safety program, added that no U.S. formula manufacturer has received any ingredients from China, so “there is no threat of contamination to the domestic supply.”

However, she said, “We’re concerned that there may be some infant formula that may have gotten into the United States illegally and may be on the ethnic market.” FDA officials are particularly concerned about places like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston, which have large populations of Chinese immigrants, the AP reported.

Personally, I don’t believe that the domestic supply hasn’t been contaminated. Historically on these issues we’ve found that the FDA is generally clueless about the facts the matter. Cough syrup for children has already been banned, primarily because the Chinese sent over anti-freeze labeled as a key ingredient. Yes, the products are made here, like the pet food tragedy, but with an ingredient supplied by China.

Keep an eye on this…it’s probably just the tip of the iceberg.

  1. I avoid products with a “Made in China” label as much as possible, but you’re right, that probably just gives me false peace of mind. It’s terrifying to realize how vulnerable we are to contamination of our domestic food supply. Let’s hope with infants involved that this isn’t a widespread repeat of the pet food debacle.

Allow me to do my Tammy Bruce, imitation, upon finding your post about Melamine in baby formula; for crying out loud! My God, we should have a direct line to that farce, Lou Dobbs, so he can go nuts on the administration; I swear he’s almost part of the ABC Gibson, group, in his ability to criticize, us, and GWB, one would think he was the Red Chinese, Russians, and Barack Obama all in one….The Chinese know how much Americans take care of their pets, and they got confused and decided to attack the other living thing that Americans cherish….that’s the only thing I could think of…..it’s late….and there’s a Hurricane on Fox…..

That cuts it! I haven’t been paying attention but now I am going to be! I am personally going to boycott anything made by the ChiComms! I don’t care what it is!

I’ve been checking things out since the lead contaminated toys. It is astonishing how much is made in China.

Per your heads up; “Keep an eye on this…it’s probably just the tip of the iceberg.”

Like the Chinese themselves, I’ve always kept a rather slanted, jaundiced outlook on their activity from Bombs to Burpee.
