Lynda Carter, the “real” Wonder Woman” (you know because she played her on TV) apparently subscribes to the Matt Damon “Let’s have no idea what we’re talking about but freak out over someone whom we know nothing about because, well, conservatives are all evil and so is Sarah Palin. Because I say so even though everything I’m saying makes no sense and if I did any research I’d find out that Sarah Palin isn’t like what I’m saying at all” school of thought.
Barry, in the meantime, has cancelled his Saturday Night Live appearance ostensibly because of Hurricane Ike. Which is over and didn’t hit New York. What are the odds that he really cancelled because appearing on a television comedy show doing television comedy makes him seem like a television celebrity who isn’t anywhere near capable of being president of the United States? Hmmm…
Mary Mitchell, columnist at the Chicago Sun-Times, better buy a lot of Pepto because she’s gonna be sick for at least four years straight.
Goldberg: Feminist Army Aims at Palin
Tammy
I think Obama was made for TV !
you know those 2am infommercials
I would seriously consider buying a Salad Spinner
from him
Perhaps he could team up with his friend Rev Wright and they could extol the benefits of
Male enhancement products !
now that would be priceless ….
We’d better take heed of Matt Damon’s words.
You never know when we might have to go to war with those dinosaurs.
We wouldn’t want to nuke an innocent brontosaurus.
I have a funny feeling BO will be on SNL, impersonated if not in person. Sarah too.
Listen, I’m not an actor but I do pretend be one when someone picks up a video camera, so I know eggzackly what Matt Damon is talking about. He’s scared that the next President might be a woman who thinks Godzilla is real and knows what to do about it, and Barack Obama is a fake and knows what to do about that too.
In a related story, the Mexican government has declared jihad against unicorns.
As a certifiable Comic Book Geek, I never bought Lynda Carter as holding a candle to the “real” Diana, who is one of DC’s most kick-ass tough characters.
The other day a liberal friend of mine told me that he heard from a friend who heard from his cousin’s step-sister’s classmate that Sarah Palin is going to create a genesis device that will keep John McCain alive for 200 years as long as he drinks the blood of minorities.
It’s true!
Dick Cheney’s goons at Halliburton will manufacture the device.
Re: Hurricanes in New Orleans.
After Katrina my solution for New Orleans was and remains: Designate NO as the National Landfill. All States rail their refuse to NO.
We can also invite other countries to contribute their trash. After a year or possibly even less, the area should be high enough and then, Build – Baby – Build!
No more worries about the city flooding. And as an offset for the inconvenience and smell, NO can keep all of the methane that will be generated.
Actors like Matt Damon scare me. They think that because they pretend to be fighter pilots, presidents, and PHD’s in movies that somehow they have absorbed those attributes into their own personal schema. They live in a dream world created by their own egos; worshipped by those who haven’t found their own way in life.
This is really sad. I used to think Lynda Carter was the whole package. Remember ‘The Last Song’?
*sigh*
Oh, well. Who’s Bonnie Franklin voting for?
Feh. The last time an actor affected my vote, it was Ronald Reagan.
Re: Feminist Army Take Aim at Palin
Isn’t the whole question about Palin being the first woman a moot point? I thought Al Gore was already the first female VP.
lol@jerocat!
“As a certifiable Comic Book Geek, I never bought Lynda Carter as holding a candle to the “real” Diana, who is one of DC’s most kick-ass tough characters.”
Me too, Dave J. Lynda Carter’s stint as a TV Wonder Woman was concurrent with Adam West’s limp wristed TV portrayal of Batman. Neither were authentic or credible.
Superman is for:
“Truth, justice and the American way.” – Perry White, Chef Editor of The Daily Planet, 1956
v.
“Truth, Justice and … w h a t e v e r.” – Perry White, Chief Editor of The Daily Planet, 2006
The tendency in Hollywood and the new media is to denigrate the mythic dimensions of DC’s characters. The public however demands and celebrates adherence to these powerful myths. Witness the latest Batman movies, “Batman Returns” and its latest sequel. The media hoopla falsely characterized its huge box-office success to “drive by” curiosity about the suicide of the troubled actor who portayed the villain. They try to make the tragedy of actor Keith Ledger the star but, it’s the authenticity of Batman which stars here. The reality is that the public’s appetite was primed by the “Batman Returns” movie and of course the lesser known DC comics.
Their service to humanity at great personal sacrifice and judgments about right and wrong make these DC comic book heroes so compelling on a mythic and worldwide scale. The supernatural and science fiction conditions in the stories help to heighten our interest with perilous threats and thrilling responses. My faith in humanity is affirmed by the enormous popularity of DC’s pantheon of super heroes.
With reluctance the TV and film industries have come to understand that it isn’t the colorful costumes and violent themes which makes them so popular but their mythic and heroic dimensions which sell well. Too bad Lynda Carter doesn’t get it. In the end she had to be canceled.
Gov. Palin has ‘em runnin’ scared and I love every step.
It’s amazing how this 1 honest, forthright, family loving mother from nowhere, broke on to the political scene and is going to change America and the World’s outlook on America. I can see Mrs. Palin arriving in the nick of time to save our country, as did Ronald Reagan.
When I see Gov. Palin I see strength, honesty, compassion, courage, all the values and principles that made America what it is today.
I’m not religious, but she has to be heaven sent.
