B. Hussein Obama Wants To Sell You Something

billymays.jpg

He might have better luck with this if he has Billy Mays host the thing. No matter how much money he spends buying himself an infomercial, Americans aren't bitter, clingy or stupid. He spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to defeat Hillary and ends up having to bully her out of the race. He'll spend half a billion dollars before this is over to find out we're not for sale. Now if he would just throw in some OxiClean, OrangeGlo and Kaboom that would be a game changer!

Barack Obama's campaign goes prime time

Barack Obama's campaign has purchased a half-hour of prime airtime on CBS, Obama spokesman Jen Psaki confirms. The campaign plans to air a special on CBS at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29 -- less than one week before election day.

Psaki would not confirm whether the campaign plans to buy slots on other networks. According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, the trade industry publication that broke the news, the campaign is in talks to also buy time on NBC and Fox.

The campaign's move is unusual, but not unprecedented. Right before the 1992 presidential election, Independent candidate Ross Perot's aired a series of 30-minute campaign ads on prime-time TV. More than 16.5 million people tuned in to watch the Republican billionaire's broadcast, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

UPDATE: The Obama campaign confirms that it has also bought a chunk of time on NBC and Fox (although the campaign ad won't air on Fox if there is a World Series game that night).

Doesn't sound like a move by a guy who thinks this election is in the bag, does it?

Let's now use a Picture Story to convey the bottom line, so to speak, of what we all can expect from ObamaTV:

Pictorally challenged? The answer is after the jump...

Cow+Patty=???

I'm guessing he'll use the broadcast to give a massive, lying "answer" to the Ayers issue, because he can no longer ignore it.

It sounds like someone with a LOT of money! And it sounds a bit like what we might expect if he gets elected. All Barack all the time. You think talk radio will survive in its present form... or will we tune in to hear Tammy and find Rosie O'Donell? . . . I just made myself sick!

Posted by: marleed [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2008 04:35 PM

marleed,
You know they'll try to revive that "fairness" crap. Of course, it'll only apply to all things conservative. Imagine churches giving equal time to demons.
Go Billy!

Any enemy big or small, President Mays nukes them all!

Posted by: DogOnCrack [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2008 05:15 PM

Wow, I just had almost the same "discussion" with my man, then cliking on Tammy, I find the excate same conculsion I came to!

As Juvenile as it may sound on my behalf, the whole Obama Campaign is like that stupid South Park meme.

Phase 1: Win Election
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!

I'd really hate to move to Switzerland after this election. I'm praying someone will run with the New Party connection, but. Who am I kidding?

Posted by: Fox [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2008 08:10 PM

This may backfire. I am so sick of his face, his voice - does he ever stop talking? Why does he think more talking will help him? Is he trying to recapture his early days when people were fainting? I think people more people are on to him, this is not a socialist country.

Posted by: CarpeDiem [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2008 08:11 PM

Unfortunately with Obama the "but wait there's more" part is unspoken.

Posted by: pat_s [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2008 08:21 PM

Ok Tammy, this except from a Fox News article about the debate and background:

McCain has called the use of Obama's middle name both improper and inappropriate and once apologized after a supporter warming up a rally used it. Hussein is a common name in Muslim cultures and its use in the campaign is seen as an effort to link Obama to radical Islam even though he is a Christian. Obama's father was a Muslim from Kenya.

From:

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/09/obama-mccain-wouldnt-say-face/

If McCain disapproves of inflammatory use of Obama's middle name, exactly why do you keep using it in your blog? The GOP scare machine for terrorism frankly is becoming a turn off for some swing voters, McCain has been tone deaf politically for some time now. He thinks Americans care about terrorism, they do but I have news, 80% plus are regarding economy as issue #1 by far, as we are seeing with the meltdown underway at this time. I see no effective messaging from McCain about this mess, many in fact feel he would continue the policies that got us into hot water financially.

I realize some 40% plus base support will always support McCain, no matter how bad it gets. Ideology has trumped economy with the hard core ideologues. I am not one of them, and my guy Obama is well on his way to winning next month, even with his limitations. My vote has everything to do as well with the GOP administration that got us into this situation. The stock market crash is as much a lack of confidence as anything, and you will be hard pressed to find anyone confident in anything Bush or his team is doing. Honestly, I have been surprised that the battleground states held as long as they have with decent McCain support, it took the economy diving to trump ideology for enough swing votes to setup a convincing victory. While Obama is not perfect, he beats the heck out of a 72 year old man in applying energy and enthusiasm into what has become a very difficult situation around the world.

Plan on the economy, market etc being uncertain until the GOP is defeated in November. Cause one thing we can count on, Wall Street is not the only ones concerned with what has been going on.

Billy Mays! Make The White House cleaner! brighter! whiter!
(DOH! That was racist, wasn't it?)
Is there a money back guarantee?

Lyndon LaRouche did this kinda stuff back in the 70s/80s.

"Doesn't sound like a move by a guy who thinks this election is in the bag, does it?"

It will be damage control, but don't underestemate the One. Don't forget this is the man who took the Wright issue, which should have sunk the Obama ship, and actually made it work FOR him with "The Speech".
Anyone else notice how Barack talks and talks about the economic crisis, while McCain actually WORKS on it?

Very funny post, Tammy. I'm cracking up.

I too am sick of Hussein's face, Carpediem, it's everywhere...and you're right - he never shuts up! And remember that creepy mural - the wall of his face in campaign headquarters? Well, that's a bumper sticker now. Many of you probably know it already but the first one I saw was on a car in front of me on my way to work this morning. CREEPY!

I was kicked off the internet while posting my comment - that's why it's on there twice. We're having internet problems.

I also wanted to say...yes Tammy, you're absolutely right....someone who is sure they have the election in the bag wouldn't buy time on prime time!

Posted by: HALEY [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 06:26 AM

The racism issue is the hostage that Baraq holds.
It is as clear and simple as that.
Baraq daring Senator McCain to challenge him to his face on the dishonesty issues itself was an easy dodge to throw out. Hard to do in a formatted debate.
But Baraq could do it before the gangs on the streets. (Murders in Chicago 192, US Deaths in Iraq 121, - over the poast six months.)

"I see no effective messaging from McCain about this mess, "
WK,
did you miss the part where McCain warned about this very same financial mess were in now, a few YEARS ago? Don't kid yourself, Dems have had control for 2 years now and have done.....wait for it...........NOTHING. So much for the party of change, eh?
Financial problems have been brewing since at least the Clinton years. Plenty of blame to go around? You know it. Let's face it, we need to toss out the bums and start fresh.

Posted by: KWH [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 10, 2008 10:07 AM

WK - you are sad and misguided.

On to less substantive things, like, say, Barry's record. If this March 2008 NYT article doesn't just say it all about Barry and his "lack of legislative substance and experience", and his relative boredom with his senate job - nothing does. By his own admission, he spent most of his time trying to find the bathroom, getting lost in the hallways, and meeting with people to learn how to "succeed and be a star" and to determine "whether or not to run..."

"...Mr. Obama did what he had done when he first arrived in the Senate, quietly consulting those who knew the institution well — Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Daschle — for advice on whether to run. They told him that these chances come along rarely. His celebrity was undeniable. And yes, he was green, but that also meant he did not have the burden of a long record."

The BURDEN of a long record... or any record at all.

I wish the opposition would use Senator McCain's middle name as often as we do B Hussein O's. Couldn't hurt to have the name of the official mascot of the US of Tammy used as a mantra for the Republican campaign. It would bring luck and good vibes to this Presidential race. Of course, it would be ideal if John Sidney McCain had the spelling of his middle name that the TB peeps prefer -- Sydney! Woof!
