This is bad news and the fact that we have no idea what’s happened is even worse. But perhaps Barkey and Nancy are looking at their version of a Silver Lining–under their depraved POV, if there is another terror attack the death of thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of Americans sure will help with social “costs” and boost the economy!

Recruited For Jihad?

About 20 young Somali-American men in Minneapolis have recently vanished.

When the boy didn’t come home from school on Nov. 4, his family assumed he was at the mosque. By evening, his mother had searched his room and found his laptop was gone and clothes were missing. Later, she discovered his passport had been taken from a drawer she kept locked. “That’s when we realized something serious had happened,” says Bihi.

Hassan, his family later found out, had boarded a chain of connecting flights to Amsterdam and Nairobi and a boat to Kismaayo in Somalia. The city is a stronghold of al-Shabab, which is one of the country’s most hard-line jihadist groups and has close ties to Al Qaeda. He traveled with at least two and up to five other young Somali-Americans from Minneapolis, according to others in the community and law-enforcement officials. …Hassan had somehow been persuaded to join Islamic militants fighting for control of the lawless country.

That suspicion is now shared by counterterrorism officials and the FBI, who are probing whether al-Shabab or other Somali Islamic groups are actively recruiting in a few cities across the United States. The officials say as many as 20 Somali-Americans between the ages of 17 and 27 have left their Minneapolis homes in the past 18 months under suspicious circumstances. Their investigation deepened when one of the missing men, Minnesotan Shirwa Ahmed, blew himself up alongside other suicide bombers in Somalia last October, killing dozens of al-Shabab’s political opponents and civilians. Ahmed had also prayed at Abubakar, and within weeks the FBI put the imam of the mosque, Sheik Abdirahman Ahmed, on a no-fly list. Among the questions investigators are asking: Who persuaded the young men to go? Who paid for their flights? And what role, if any, has the mosque played in their alleged recruitment?

And we’re scratching our heads in bewilderment with those questions? Remarkable. Obviously, read the whole article.

Here’s a tipping point that drives me near orbit.
Not only has word of the disappearance of Somali youths been out for over a month, certainly around Thanksgiving, but has anyone ever asked how it is that so many Somalis made their way into the country in the first place.
About a year ago there was an inquiry as to their exceptional immigrant numbers to the State Department.
Of course, “ZIP” happened. (Remember the Ramadan for Labor Day switch? [of course, you don't, it was an election year - neither polite not politic])
Don’t tell me it was in apology for our (“aggression”) “Blackhawk Down”.
Europeans are stuck with obligations to prior colonials. We are not.
Yet, why are we putting up with this? Because it’s easy; simple as that. It’s soft as soft can get.
You’re right, we have to stop killing ourselves. But have you ever dealt with a determined suicide?

The Newsweek article ends with this question from Hassan’s uncle: “How does a child who’s been in the U.S. since he was 4 or 5 become convinced to leave his parents and go to war in Somalia?”

    Let’s see:
    1. The boy spends most of his childhood hearing American leftists say that America is evil and hates Islam.
    2. The boy learns in school that Christians fought Islam during the Crusades, but he does not learn that the Crusades were a response to Islamic aggression in the Middle East and Europe.
    3. The boy learns from school and the media that all of the current problems in the Islamic world were caused by Western colonialism.
    3. The boy learns from his “moderate” mosque that the entire world will eventually be subject to the Sharia and the laws of Islam.
    4. A “helpful” mentor teaches the boy about the parts of Koran that command the killing of infidels and describe the rewards promised to martyrs.
    5. The same mentor explains that the boy does not need to wait on the sidelines while others fight the Jihad.
    6. The mentor “assists” the boy with plans to head to Somalia or some other place where he can learn to fight. Of course, he is told why it is important that he keep this a secret.

    Think that would do it?

The results of his indoctrination was a given.
WHY and HOW did we let him and his parents get here?
Nobody wants to get to the bottom of these issues.
Let’s face it. Better yet, (a quote from Kelley’s Pogo) “I have met the enemy and he is us.”
We have to face ourselves for these problems. We’ve been here all along. Yes, I have too. Evidently, we’ve not done enough. Yes, I’ve evidently not done enough. Damn me. Then next…

You know, Minnesota is a border state. Maybe the Somali’s were kidnapped by Canadians!? This must be why Janet Napolitano is so worried about our northern border.

Well once Al Franken gets going, he can head an investigation.

Hmm, first Jimmy Hoffa, now Somalis. Can Ayers and Khalidi be next? I mean, these Somalis are in plain view of everyone in Minneapolis. They check your I.D. in the check in lines at the Minneapolis St. Paul airport for God’s sake! I guess when one of the regular business flyers noticed Oooboo Kaloobi not working in the lines at MSP for a few weeks, he got curious & asked some questions, and then finally found Oooboo the Somali on prime time news paddling a Pirate ship.
