Tammy – you are entirely too funny! I love the week “weather” report here. We awoke this morning to streams of people, families, children, everyone carrying blankets (so I know they weren’t going to work). You know you are in DC when an Inauguration comes along; no one has to go to work. I live in the city (the one at the edge of DC) directly across the street from the subway. I can see the platform from my house. There are hotels behind our little in-city neighborhood so people come from there and past the houses over to the subway. The stream today has been non-stop. I’ve only been awake since 7am. My not so little puppies were sitting at the windowsills watching and barking. They are used to people walking by, this is a norm, but this is constant, no gaps in the foot traffic.

I know this is a special time for African-Americans specifically but I cannot and will not separate out the extreme liberalism of this guy; I understand when people say get over it this is our President now but I am watching more carefully than ever, little things that are slipping past people, will have profound consequences (and remember, people -and school with marching bands- have been disinvited to this Inauguration due to their past however slight association with the Bush administration, or participation in previous Bush Inaugural parades – that does not bode well for getting along).

But most of all, and Tammy I know this is not where we agree, but many of your peeps are on the same plane here with me, Thursday is the 27th anniversary of the March for Life. It is a traditional time of the news media disappearing. There have been years when they numbered higher than the Million Man March but no coverage was seen in the news anywhere. We’ll see if they go “on vacation” again.

Fellow Tammy peeps – keep your antennae up, talk to people when something goes awry, don’t let the moment pass.

CBS says *unicorns* on Thursday, not pegasus…es. Er– pegasi.

Well said, Katie. (I’ve had some fun in Silver Spring, in years past. Nice place.)

I’m constantly hearing the phrase, “It’s Obama’s day.” Is it? Isn’t this America’s day? Many, many countries do not enjoy the privilege of a peaceful transfer of power every four years. Nearly NO countries have a Constitution as enduring and well-founded as America’s, one that isn’t dissolved or overhauled with every new leader. I have often repeated to others Tammy’s statement that America is the only country in history founded on an IDEA. Beyond that, we also are the only one whose IDEALS have succeeded, and only because that vision is grounded in the very Creator of freedom.

Newsflash: America — the successful version — is a team sport. A little while I passed by the TV and even heard Michael Reagan roll over, of all people. (How funny that all the men are, while Tammy and Laura are “tellin’ it like it is.”)

Today is America’s day. When it becomes one man’s day, we have peacefully transferred her power into the hands of her first dictator. J

  4. HALEY says:

Great comments, Jeweytunes. I agree. We now have our first dictator.

  5. ffigtree says:

Excellently said jeweytunes… “Today is America’s day. When it becomes one man’s day, we have peacefully transferred her power into the hands of her first dictator.”

Will the Hoover Dam now hold back wine?

ROTFLMAO! Love that weather forecast. I waited all morning for the skies to open and for God to speak. Didn’t happen. Wonder why.

As for jeweytunes, you said it perfectly. At the Lincoln Memorial the other day I heard the crowd chanting Obama’s name and it gave me the creeps. I thought I heard it today as well (I was “forced” to watch the Inaugaration today – long story).

See, Obama doesn’t creep me out. To me, he’s just another politician and the D or R after his name makes no never mind to me – they’re pretty much all political hacks looking to get relected. Okay, there may be a few real “good” ones on either side, but seriously, I don’t have much respect for it anymore. I’ve been BOHICA’d too many times by both parties to feel otherwise.

What creeps me out the most are his “followers” (not supporters). And jeweytunes hit the nail on the head – if we are making it HIS day, then he just became, as Doug McIntyre referred to today on KABC, like those countries where El Presidente wears sunglasses for his portraits and puts his face on the flag and his birthday is a mandatory national holiday. A dictator.

And the funny thing is, it’s not like I can say that OBAMA wants that. Just like Bush didn’t want it despite all the protests. I mean, none of us knows what’s in his heart and his head. So I won’t do the ODS.

But his followers seem to want him, too. I mean, The Corner showed a blog entry about some House of Rep guy who wanted to get rid of the 22nd amendment so that if Obama was still in office a second term, he could run for a third.

Seriously?! I mean, the man wasn’t even in office yet, and even though technically he is now, he hasn’t DONE ANYTHING YET!

That’s the part that is soooooooo irritating!

Well, we are now the Loyal Opposition. Let’s “Get’r done!”

LadyKrystyna, remember in 2004 when the Left was up in arms over Bush “possibly” canceling the election in case of a terrorist attack. Imagine if Obama tried to do that. I’m sure the Left would care about as much as they did over Obama’s inauguration costs being way higher than Bush’s.
