Here is generally what you can expect from tonight’s speech by Captain Doom and Gloom to Congress. My advice? While Barkey has his piehole in motion working furiously to depress you into submission, why don’t you go enjoy that free stack of pancakes from the IHOP? ;)

Barkey’s Speech:

Bobby Jindal will deliver the DOP response. Being in this position clearly indicates that Jindal is the Bush Machine choice for president. Sarah would have been the more obvious, and radical, choice. So we’ve got to keep an eye on this to see exactly how much influence the failed Bush dynasty has on Jindal. Lets hope he keeps them at bay. You can see the response, which immediately follows Barkey’s rant, at Jindal’s official website.

Not sure where to post this, but I got an email today from the office of one of my senators (even though I emailed him about not voting for the stimulus at least a couple of weeks ago). Standard form letter stuff, but I’m sure there’s a nugget of something (crap?) in there:

    “Dear Mr. ******,

Thank you for contacting me with your views on the economic stimulus package. In order to best represent you as your United States Senator, it is vital that I hear your view on this and other important matters.

I recognize that many Virginians still have concerns about the need for a stimulus package. There has also been a good deal of misinformation surrounding this legislation, both about what is included and how it will be implemented. On February 10, 2009, I joined a majority of the Senate in approving a bipartisan compromise to restart the economy through a responsible mix of tax cuts and investments that will create jobs. The compromise includes more than $360 billion in tax relief and roughly $460 billion in short-term spending over the next two years on roads, rail, water and sewer projects, as well as additional health care and jobless assistance for the unemployed. The agreement was widely supported by our nation’s leading business groups, and I was pleased to work with a centrist group of colleagues to craft the proposal that passed the Senate, which was signed by the President on February 17, 2009.

President Obama and the relevant Congressional committees have been in close consultation with state and local officials and a wide range of economic experts to develop an approach that represents a prudent and effective path to economic recovery. Their consensus found that if nothing is done in the face of this economic crisis, catastrophic consequences could face small businesses and working families across the country.

The Administration and Congress have provided for unprecedented oversight, accountability and transparency in the measure so that taxpayers’ money is handled carefully and used in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Moving forward, I will continue to work for Virginians to ensure that the funds in the stimulus package are directly targeted to job creation and “shovel ready” initiatives. You should know that a Recovery Act and Transparency Board will also oversee the disbursement of the funds and a website provided by the White House, http://www.recovery.gov, will post detailed information about recovery spending.

The Recovery and Reinvestment Act is but one component of a three-part plan to restore our economy. We still have important work to do to address the foreclosure crisis and shore-up the real estate market and we also must take steps to repair our banking system so that credit will begin flowing again to consumers and small businesses.

Again, thank you for your input. As we move forward in the 111th Congress, please continue to be in touch with your opinions and concerns.”

I LOVE the graphics on this particular post! Not sure there is space, but would be great to see the OMG, just shut up Obama graphic on the sidebar — I can’t tell you how much it means to my sanity to see the Kool-Aid graphic and the Bye Bye Obama meter on the sidebar! Thanks so much for these!

  3. marleed says:

Well, I’m listening via hulu which is the FOX feed. I will probably live to regret it. Shepard Smith seems to be forecasting a hopeful speech. Doesn’t matter, I don’t believe anything he says. I am, however, interested in Jindal’s response.

  4. Idiot#3 says:

Your take on Bobby Jindal is mine eggzackly. That boy is vanilla in an olive oily sort of way, and no fighter. He reminds me of a Governor Crisp with a more swan-like neck.

My gal Sal Palin could have smacked down the flying Kenyan like one of those effective horse-tail fly-swatters his grammy uses back in his homeland. And maybe demanded he produce something better than a certificate of live birth. “Yes yes, Mr. Soetorobama, we believe you were born alive, just not where you claim”.

  5. Ripper says:

Hillary is sitting there thinking “I can’t believe I lost to this ******* ass****!

  6. Ripper says:

I wish the Bush machine – the same machine that gave us Bob Dole, GHW Bush, GW Bush, and John McLame would STFU and go drown themselves.

  7. Rod says:

As long s the “Bush machine” runs the GOP the Dems are home free. I can not understand why the GOP does not throw the bas—ds out! I thought after “Read my lips… the party would wise up. Boy was I wrong! ?!@#$%!
After the GOP grew the deficit by leaps and bounds for 8 -eight – years it is clear to the public they are liars when they complain about “The One’s” deficits!

But – If Bobby does refuse to take any federal handouts it will be more believable for him to say he is for responsible government. Which no GOP member of Congress can do after the last 8 years! You hear me Johnny McC!?

  8. newzmom says:

I tried..I tried so hard to listen to the Dali Bama’s exhortation to the nation..but I am weak or unworthy or unenlightened or unevolved. I will have to wait for a more courageous person (most likely Maynard or Tammy) to digest and and impart in a palatable way his message. To me he is the tornado warning siren on the first Tuesday of the month:completly without meaning.

  9. jerocat says:

    Monster Watch!

The list of major problems outlined by Obama are all caused by government interference with the “economy.” The Economy is essentially the aggregate of private property and private decisions colored by self interest. In fact banking and credit have failed as a direct result of Obama’s own personal actions. He came out of Harvard U. attacking banks, advising ACORN and eventually, while in the US Senate, enabling Fannie Mae corruption. Oppressed by the atmosphere of success all around us here in the USA which he can not control and doesn’t understand, Obama helped nurture and protect the forces which ruined the trust and security of banks world wide. He publicly blames Wall Street and bankers.

He is a pathological liar. He has no constructive solutions. Barak Obama IS Barry Soetoro.

Listen well to the traders on Wall Street and in the trading pits in Chicago. They understand in great detail the words and programs coming out of Obamaville.

  10. Ripper says:

Did you catch our pathetic standard bearer from last Autumn applaud over the “torture” remark? Go drown your self John McCain. J.D. Hayworth for Arizona Senator!
Oh freaking great – he is back to the homey bull shit stories.

I want the country to succeed but you to fail Obambi. Can that be done?

  11. Ripper says:

“The United States does not torture”? Really?? Listening to you is torture, I think I would rather be water boarded any day.

  12. jerocat says:

What a flipping crock! Obama BS.

    !!!Good news!!!

States around the nation are declaring their sovereignty and 10th Amendment rights. Eight states so far adopted Declarations of Independence from the Federal government and 20 more are drafting them. The 10th Amendment is another one of those beauties which limit the power of the federal government.

That OMG graphic would make a great t-shirt.

  14. N_Campbell says:

The only way I forsee my Governor running for the Presidency in 2012 is if he manages to completely clean up corruption here in Baton Rouge. If he manages to do that… Well, words fail me.

Frankly, his ability to deliver reform guided by conservative principles will determine whether or not he even has a shot at it, but I don’t expect anything until 2016 at the earliest.

As a side note, I believe that Governor Palin’s future rests on a similar premise. She has to keep cleaning up Alaskan politics and making headlines for the right reasons.

  15. MopUpOnTwo says:

    We’ve elected Jesse Jackson.

Mondale, Dukakis, Gore have never looked so good.

  16. Jack Bauer says:

…Being in this position clearly indicates that Jindal is the Bush Machine choice for president.

When is somebody — anybody — in the GOP going to get the idea that TV IMAGE MATTERS.

I know it’s a novel new concept that’s only been round since JFK. But even so, Bobby is probably the smartest guy in the room…

Unfortunately that room is hosting ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER.

And Bobby looks like the Fifth Grader.

  17. palin2012 says:

Jindal was an embarrassment – please. If this is the best “counter” the GOP has to offer, Tammy’s terminology “DOP” is absolutely correct.

  18. Kimj7157 says:

I refused to listen to Barky, and could barely stand to listen to Jindal! Good grief. I think he lost a lot of ground with that speech. I no longer see him as a bright and shining star for conservatives.

We need someone with PASSION, dammit! Repubs would do well to take a few lessons from Rick Santelli!!!

  19. Shawmut says:

I just can’t listen to the freak.
Again, he reminds me of the kid in the high school play who plays a grown-up part, but believes it’s real.
Speaking to the elite of the American government, he just rags on. His lines are all prepared.

  20. RobK says:

Barky’s speech took WAY too long. The speech was obviously from a teleprompter and was scary as it was gratuitous to only Liberals. He is constantly taking jabs at Bush and continues to keep saying all the doom and gloom is inherited. This has become SO disingenuous, it is sickening where Barky can’t be taken seriously at all. It is typical of a Liberal to not take responsibility. Barky’s speech slammed Business and Banks. His mention of Cap & Trade was a disaster for him to say as it is a total failure and corrupt. Saying the Bush tax cuts will be allowed to expire is a dangerous message for him to send politically. And the worst part of the speech was his pressing the green message to appease the far left wing whackos. In the end, the Stock Market is responding properly to this idiotic speech, it is down nearly 200 points today.

  21. HALEY says:

I watched the first 10 minutes and then couldn’t take it anymore, had to turn off the tv. Barkey was awful and full of crap as usual, Pelosi looked possessed by something – probably Barkey. And I noticed that seeing Biden and Pelosi sitting in the background behind Barkey really doesn’t instill a whole lot of confidence in the American people.

Then I turned it on for another minute towards the end and Barkey was talking about responsibility and handling things responsibly. It’s ironic how he just spent a trillion dollars in a month on payoffs to his supporters and other crap which is most certainly not for the people like he always says, and he’s about to spend a whole lot more on more crap, but he was talking about responsbility. Needless to say, I turned the tv off again in 10 seconds this time…not 10 minutes.

  22. HALEY says:

Oh yeah, and the second time I turned it on, I noticed that Pelosi and Biden were looking around at everyone to see who was clapping enthusiastically to praise Barkey and who was not clapping. I’m sure that the Congress people who were not being enthusiastic, acting enthusiastic, clapping enthusiastically, and praising Barkey will pay dearly somewhere down the road.

  23. LynnJG says:

This is from Meet the Press on Sunday, February 22, 2009:
    http://tinyurl.com/bnyhx8

MR. GREGORY: Let me spend our last couple of minutes talking about politics. What is the state of the Republican Party?

GOV. JINDAL: Look, our Republican Party got fired with cause these last two election cycles. We became the party that defended spending, corruption that we never should’ve tolerated, and we stopped offering relevant solutions to the problems that Americans care about… I think our OBLIGATION [capitalization added by me] is to work with the president every chance we can, to be bipartisan. We’ve done that in Louisiana. We’ve cut taxes six times, reformed ethics. We need to work with the president every chance we can. But on principle–when we disagree…”

This dumb-a** Jindal doesn’t seem to realize that this is almost exactly what President Bush said; “new tone”, has worked with both Democrats and Republicans in Texas, bipartisanship, ya da ya da ya da.

And, where did it get President Bush? Is this the same direction Jindal would take us in?

Also, on exactly WHAT principle do we agree at all with liberal Democrat socialists?

What is Jindal smoking when he mentions “ethics reform?” Ethics reform in Washington, DC by working with the current liberal Democrats? Gov. Jindal, please drop the crack pipe, step away from the microphone and go back to Louisiana.

When is the moronic Republican Party going to realize that liberal Democrats in Washington DO NOT WANT TO WORK WITH REPUBLICANS! IT DIDN’T WORK THE FIRST TIME. WAKE UP!

  24. RobK says:

Why don’t those who continuously think they know how to run the Republican party step up and offer their own solutions? I really don’t see the problem with Jindal’s message, other than I didn’t like any mention of “Barky is a good man crap, but let me digress”. My God, show me a Democrat that is worth being President right now for it doesn’t exist. There are only two guys out there that can rip the entire useless Liberals apart, and that is Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. I really wouldn’t be putting any faith in anyone else and I strongly suggest you get behind one of them. I am writing Michael Steele right now about these two. I wish I was writing Ken Blackwell, but Steele is the man I guess.

It was embarrassing to watch Jindal speak after Odummy. It was public speaking at a bad get rich quick sales meeting. “Tell them a story, Bobby, and get them involved”. It was so hard to watch, and I like the guy. If I hated him I would have been rolling on the floor.
We’ve got to step up, people. The game is on.
The talking heading universally say how good Odummy speaks. He’s crap, he’s just better than the rest of the politicians.
