246-183, with all 176 Republicans, and 7 Dems, voting no. There was a “present” vote from a Democrat. Coward. Congratulations everyone, at helping provide the first What It Means to Be a Conservative lesson to Repubs in the House.
The Senate vote is scheduled for 5pm ET tonight.
Kennedy won’t make this final vote, leaving one less Dem to shove this thing fdown our throats, and perhaps the liberals are still relying on Specter, Snow and Collins to betray their constituents.
Gregg says he’ll vote against the bill.
Here are the 7 Dems, with state and district, who voted against the bill. They deserve our thanks for their courage in an environment which has been demanding that they not do the right thing. These 7 are real heroes. Thanks to Pat S. for compiling.
Bright – (AL 2nd)
DeFazio – (OR 4th)
Griffith – (AL 5th Dist)
Minnick – (ID 1st)
Peterson – (MN 7th)
Shuler – (NC 11th)
Taylor – (MS 4th)
Boehner makes it clear not one member of the House read the bill.
Giving control of the census to the executive branch would give them the power to rig every election in the country.
This is frightening!!!
Thank you for naming the Dems who stood up for America. I’m going to call their offices and thank them.
Here’s the lesson. If any political entity wants to influence the outcome then a cogent argumant has to be made. If we, who would call ourselves conservative in politics, haven’t argued for reasonable ends, then we have to make way for those who can.
Against the Herculean fundraising of the opposition, we will have to penetrate their vaults; we will have to breach the walled in minds of the pedestrians to show some light.
More important, we don’t win people over by telling them how wrong they were, but rather by showing them a better alternative; and, when available, give proofs of failed paths.
Voicing our outrage only indicates how angry we are at ourselves and catting swiping indicates a shallow view.
Now, if ever, we must rejoin the fray with fresh voices and energy.
Let’s take it from here.
Hoyer from Maryland was on the House floor saying he wasn’t sure the bill was going to work… Heaven help us.
Thanks for posting these names.
Shawmut, perhaps it is what little remains of my youth that prohibits me but I wish I had your level of patience.

I called my Congressman ( Arcuri ) today, to reinforce my opposition to the “stimulus” legislation. I had previously sent him an email, as well as Chuck Schumer. Could not reach Kristen Gillibrand since she does not have an email form posted yet.
It’s all we can do. I am opposed to this bill on so many fronts. What worries me the most is what we don’t know about it. We have already seen how dictatorial and devious the new administration is, along with the House and Senate. I am hearing about some form of gun legislation as well, so it looks like they are attacking our 2nd Amendment rights as well.
I believe the left in this country won this one-sided battle, but will lose the war. What they have done is made an activist out of a large portion of the population. Start talking “Fairness Doctrine” and taking away our constitutional rights, and that is the very definition of socialism.
Anyone catch Obama at the Caterpillar plant in Peoria today? He said that Caterpillar would be able to restore lost jobs. Problem is, later today the Caterpillar CEO said no… that in reality they will have to “lay off more workers before things can get better”. Some stimulus.
Some of the emails will go through outside of the “7′s” district – others will not.
A treasonous act by these arrogant, incompetent fools in the Senate that we, the American people, will pay dearly for. To Hell with them all.
The only transparency in this administration is the deceit and lies that have been exposed within it in these last few weeks. Along with the Pelosi botox treatments.
That booted out has-been Tom Daschle so slyly and with intended deceit says ‘ Attach a health care plan to the budget. Slip it in and no one will see that it has passed until the deed is done.’ They have once again given us the finger, let us now give them all the boot.
I’m a little confused here. I just found a link to hhs.gov. It looks like Bush already created the HIT position in 2004. Does Congress not know this or are they trying to create something different?

With 59 “Yea” and Sen. Brown (D-OH) on his way to cast his vote – the crap sandwich will pass tonight short of a miracle. Get out the clothes pins – we’re gonna have to eat this thing eventually.
Just wanted to post…off topic, but I think relevent to the the dramatic socialization of America. Kudos to Judd Gregg for standing on principle. Now, the real question is, what in the world could Obama have up his sleeve, putting the Census in the hands of the political pile-driver on his staff, Rahm Emmanuel.
Answer, it is an absolute full court press by the new administration and the democratic party to ensure that every advantage is theirs to hold onto seats, and to capitalize on everything from their continued campaign finance fraud to the illicit work of ACORN. Shameful.
I really enjoyed the little shoomur’s rant about republican partisanship. Clearly the chief of the senate clown cluster thinks bipartisan is when a republican abandons core values and votes with the demons. But somehow there is no reciprocal consideration – how droll! I guess the right thing to do is divert attention from reality with false acusations. Was little chuckie asleep when the Republican’s were shut out of deliberations. Was chmuckie asleep when the demoncraps promised to let the public review things? Did he read and understand what he voted on? Does the guy even have a clue how disgusting he is when he talks down to the entire country with his specious prattle. Time for the shooman to cowboy up and take his own medicine – that is, act bipartisan from now on. It is too late on the pelosi toxic waste spending plan, but he can do it in the future. Schoodude – that means listen to the Republicans. DUH!
New York seems to have turned into a real blight on the country. Looks like the hildebeast was simply replaced by a gilldebeast who is mindlessly following head down and nose to the ground – and not thinking. Too bad – it had looked for a moment like new york might actually get a senator with a brain cell. Might be a improvement to have Hilli back in 2110 when she runs agian after being obaaamed out of her new job – that is unless the best of worlds happens and gillie gets replaced by a republican.
Sable007:
That was rich of Schumer ( calling the republicans partisan ) when the democrats wouldn’t even let them in the room.
There is a bottom line… NOBODY READ THE BILL. THEY VOTED ON A BILL THAT NONE OF THEM EVEN READ.
Congratulate the Democrats who voted against the maggot ridden crap sandwich. 7 Patriots out of a majority of scumbags is very troubling for the Democrat party. As of this day, the Democrat party is in REAL trouble and far and away in deeper crap than the Republican party BY FAR. The Republicans can run stick figures in 2010 and will win the majority back in the Congress and Senate. In 2012, and I personally don’t think Barky will make it through this year over this census legal issue now, but we’ll have another Republican party with a mandate to finally straighten this crap out.
DOGONCRACK, let not your heart be troubled over the Census issue. When you walk around overconfident, with your hands in the air, like Barky does, something is going to blindside you. Well, the Census issue has trapped Barky to a degree he many even now know. Suit is (and may already have been) filed against Obama about the Census. He has violated Article 1 of the Constitution and I have heard the Congress is acting right now against him. Democrats and Republicans in the Congress have waited for the opportune time to go after Barky, and the time is here. Watch this issue in the next week or so. It is going to blow. There was a statement made on Friday that the Census issue is bigger than Nixon and that the Supreme Court also made a statement regarding the unconstitutionality of the move. Hmmm, bye, bye Barky?
