Pelosi Made Her “500 million jobs” Claim Last Month, Too

by Tammy on February 4, 2009 · 10 comments

So far today on Tammy Radio I’ve been explaining the bizarre Nancy claim as something subconscious, simply an outgrowth of the liberal commitment to try to scare us every day. But now we have found Pelosi made the same claim last month on FNC, was corrected on the air by Chris Wallace, and yet made the same claim yesterday. As Pat S. has noted, one would think that would have made an impression on a person. So I retract my opinion that this was a subconscious claim. She simply likes the number, it’s really scary, and it “feels” right, so she used it agaiin.

Jan 18, 2009: Transcript: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on ‘FNS’

PELOSI: …But in terms of what we have to do in the first 100 days, we must address the needs of this country. Five hundred million people will lose their jobs each month until we have an economic package.
WALLACE: No, 500,000.
PELOSI: What did I say, million?
WALLACE: Yes, 500 million. That would really be a recession.
PELOSI: Oh, no. Excuse me. Thank you for correcting me.
WALLACE: Yes.
PELOSI: It feels like 500 million. Five hundred thousand Americans will lose their jobs each month until we have a recovery package.

Something is obviously, certifiably wrong with her. I listened to her defend her family planning aspect of the so-called stimulus bill, and she looked like she was on drugs while saying it helped the country by reducing the number of people in the country. This kind of mistake regarding these numbers truly reflects more than incompetence, she is obviously sick, mentally or otherwise, or both. What is incompetence is that the Dems continue to put her up front.

Amazing how Nancy Pelosi can get re-elected – her constituents must be as mentally ill as she is.

Inmates are running the asylum.

Since 500,000 is half a million, the kindest rationalization is that Pelosi’s brain is mixing up half a million and 500 thousand and it comes out 500 million. The fact she persists in making the error is at best a sign of deteriorating mental capacity. I’m not being mean. I’m getting old too and these things happen. If age-related diminished mental capacity is affecting the Speaker of the House, you can bet it isn’t limited to misstatements. Time to retire and play with the grandchildren Nancy.

That’s right. You heard her, this recession is soooo bad that every American, including the next four generations is flat busted and out of work. We need to get some new taxes up in here. Everbody should either work for the government, or be on the dole. The “crap sandwich” is just the thing she needs to get that ball rolling.

KATHY,

The problem is that Pelosi’s district is San Francisco, so she will never have any Republican opposition. As long as the Dems control the House (which will be a while, even if the Repubs gain seats in 2010), she will be Speaker. Her toughest political “opponents” are people like Cindy Sheehan in the Democratic Primary. This is why the GOP losing in 2006 was so perilous.

She is pathetic. Had she not be in a position of power, she would be amusing, just like the crazy aunt. The only way of getting rid of her is if Republicans win the majority in the House.

Here’s a good t-shirt idea: “A village in California has lost its idiot…”

I sent money to Sheehan’s campaign. I figured that she is such a wing nut that the rest of the congressmen would freeze her out. She would never be considered for speaker, and she would make lots of trouble for the dems, trying to hold them to their socialist promises. She’s also a one issue screwball. It’s ALL about Iraq with her, and on that issue she will be relentless in embarrassing her own party.

Hi Tammy,

Long time fan when I used to be able to get you on the radio.

I appreciate your digging up the first “500 million” utterance of the brilliant and always eloquent Nancy Pelosi. My site (IHateTheMedia.com) had posted video of the 500 million number by Pelosi and now I’ve been able to add a comment to it to include her first mention of it.

Hey, I see that image on the right sidebar as I’m typing this comment of Bush “Saving your ass, like it or not.” LOL! I remember originating that design myself when I used to own the RightNation.us website (originally HollywoodHalfwits.com).

Anyway, I’ve put your site in my RSS reader. Keep up the great work.

Things are worse than I thought. Doing the arithmetic here, yuh got 500 million jobs lost every month. With 300 million Americans in all, a third of who are too young, old, or stupid to be working, that leaves a couple hundred mil. The resulting ratio is 6.66 million jobs lost every single day. The only conclusion I reach is that some poor Americans are losing dozens of jobs each week if not every single day.
