And limps home to the Democrat Party. Question: Can he take McCain, Graham, Snowe and Collins with him please? Good riddance to him and every other liberal who’s been masquerading as a conservative for far too long. And btw, it’s no coincident Specter makes this decision less than two weeks after the tea parties.
Congratulations everyone. Nothing changes with this. Ignore all the stories about how awful this is for the GOP. Specter is a liberal and has been carrying Urkel’s water, now he’ll simply be doing it with a “D” after his name.
Specter says he’s switching from GOP to Dems
Veteran Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania abruptly switched parties Tuesday, a move intended to boost his re-election chances that also pushed Democrats within one seat of a 60-vote filibuster-resistant majority.
“I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans,” Specter said in a statement posted on a Web site devoted to Pennsylvania politics and confirmed by his office.

Definitely take Miss Lindsey Graham with you. Specter is a huge coward. Still I hate to see the Dems crowing.
Believe me Tammy, no tears shed here. One by one, may they switch, resign, kick the bucket…whatever it takes. I want the republican party to be the vessel of conservatism again.
We may have to rise from the dust & ashes. Nothing comes easy. We are in times right now that require super-human strength.
Thanks to conservative talk radio and each other, we will prevail. Battles will be lost, they will also be won. Battle lines are being drawn. I’m elated this weakling is not on my side. Later loser…You are a hinderance Mr. Spector. Please take the deadweights Snowe & Collins with you.
My only question is why it took him so long to make the jump to the jackass party. Hmmm, perhaps this little bit of news from Rasmussen had something to do with it :
Poll: Toomey Ahead Of Specter By 21 Points For 2010 Senate Primary
By Eric Kleefeld – April 24, 2009, 9:55AM
A new Rasmussen poll of Pennsylvania finds that Arlen Specter appears to be in serious trouble going into his 2010 primary against conservative challenger Pat Toomey.
The numbers: Toomey 51%, Specter 30%.
Toomey, a former Congressman, previously ran against Specter in the 2004 primary, and made it into a 51%-49% race. Specter has since provided Toomey a huge opening this time thanks to his vote for the stimulus bill. And Pennsylvania is a closed-primary state, too, meaning that Specter faces a conservative base vote.
From the pollster’s analysis: “In another sign that could be troubling for Specter, the current poll finds that 79% of Pennsylvania Republicans have a favorable opinion of the “Tea Party” protests against big government spending and higher taxes held across the nation last week. Thirty percent (30%) know someone personally who took part.”
Yeah,ya think?!
To: Specter the Defector Good by clown. Hope you
and your boy Harry get along fine. This skunk knows he’s toast in the Pa Republican primary so he worm’s out. Maybe you can take young Franken(stein) and teach him the ropes. Purge the weak.
I can’t believe this is the same guy I came to so admire during the Hill/Thomas debacle.
I’m glad to see this f(rea)k switch parties. It’s about time! Now, he can no longer leave his aging, sagging ass-print on legislation as a Republican. I hope more Obama whores in the R party will follow suit.
I totally see this as a victory on our part! We ran him out! Let’s start pressuring the other Sen. Sphincter’s to get the hell out of the R party. The Dems already have the majority and we’re already screwed – let’s just get them all together in the Dem party and toss them over the border in 2010.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Specter and the dems are all so smug and sure. This could be the setup for a VERY satisfying experience for true conservatives when he gets his BUTT KICKED in the next election.
I only wish a few Blue Dog dems would start to announce some switches.
But…but…how can this be? He voted to “save the country” when he crossed the aisle in support of the “stimulus package”! He’s a “maverick”! He’s worshiped by the MSM! How will the Republican Party ever come back after a blow like this? It’s probably time to pack up the tent and give the country to the Democratic Party! I mean, really! If a true respected conservative like Arlen Spectre starts hitting from the other side of the plate, what chance do we have? Snark now off…
I’m thinking of sending the Democratic National Committee a gift box of “Preparation H” so they can deal with one of the most irritating assholes in Congress.
