Tammy, the only way I see us getting out of the gay marriage debate without trampling on religious freedom is for government to get out of the marriage business entirely, and to only recognize civil unions. Couples would then be free to have a marriage ceremony in a willing church if they wish. Of course, the gay gestapo would still shriek about how they’re being treated unfairly because some churches wouldn’t be willing to throw away their convictions in order to bless their union. But I’m pretty sure at this point that people in that group won’t be happy until every single person on the planet tells them that not only are their relationships okay, but we wish we were more like them.
The whole thing drives me nuts, though. I mean, who decided that marriage is a right? By the same token, shouldn’t driving (or anything else the government issues a license for) also be a right?
Also, Tammy, you rock. Like many of your listeners, I don’t agree with you on everything, but it’s nice to know that we can still be friends as we come together on the things that are most fundamental. I found you after reading an old Orson Scott Card World Watch column in which he recommended one of your books, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
This Korean Thing must have really PO’d the Mouth in Chief. He must have negotiated serial migraines thinking how to tell us we are as safe as any other kid growing up in Indonesia, young renegade travelling to Pakistan, or college kid in gangland Chicago. As to the Persian Yacht Club launcing six ships into the Gulf area? Somehow, I don’t think a Gilbert and Sullivan Regatta is what the other World Orator has in mind.
Imagine having to call the Teleprompter’s programmer in on a holiday weekend. And just as he was planning on going West to raise the vote for his other fellows of the Stockholm Syndrome; Reid, et al.

The yellow-belly GOP will talk their tripe about vetting Sotomayor then put her through with flying colors. They are scared s**tless to speak out for fear of offending and perhaps hurting the feelings of others. That’s such an unpopular thing for them to do these days.
And what’s this about needing 70 days to do the vetting process when they did not even ask for a couple days to read a trillion + dollar bill they voted aye on ?
Sotomayer IS a liberal, activist judge who was overruled by the same court she wishes to sit on over 60% of the time. She has virtually stated that she will legislate with jurisprudence, and therefore views the Constitution of the United States as a living document.
All that being said, the right does not have the numbers to put up a fight at all. They know it.
And, what about the timing of all this? The world is on the bring of a global nuclear war, and Obama springs this? Pyongyang and Tehran have made strident moves toward being nuclear threats, all because he has shown incredible weakness on defense.
In a few short months the global economy has been put on a one-way ticket to bankruptcy and socialism, and is a much more dangerous place. This man’s ineptitude is quite alarming, and yet the America people love him.
