President Ronald Reagan.jpg

And while we’re at it, Washington, Adams, and Jefferson. After all, they’re just a bunch of dead guys with old ideas who probably wouldn’t like very much what today’s current batch of Repub poseurs are up to. Oh, and let’s also turn the GOP into one massive Group Therapy session. Yeah. that’s the ticket!

Jeb Bush, GOP: Time to leave Reagan behind

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Saturday that it’s time for the Republican Party to give up its “nostalgia” for the heyday of the Reagan era and look forward, even if it means stealing the winning strategy deployed by Democrats in the 2008 election. “You can’t beat something with nothing, and the other side has something. I don’t like it, but they have it, and we have to be respectful and mindful of that,” Mr. Bush said.

“So our ideas need to be forward looking and relevant. I felt like there was a lot of nostalgia and the good old days in the [Republican] messaging. I mean, it’s great, but it doesn’t draw people toward your cause,” Mr. Bush said.

“From the conservative side, it’s time for us to listen first, to learn a little bit, to upgrade our message a little bit, to not be nostalgic about the past because, you know, things do ebb and flow.”

Yeah, they sure do–and with the last 8-years of Republican strategy to become more like liberals, we ebbed and flowed right into the Socialist crap heap.

Oh yeah, and Jeb, those “good old days” we should stop thinking about actually appealed to everyone in the country, explaining Reagan’s massive landslide in 1984, winning 49 of 50 states, and losing Minnesota by just 4,000 votes. It was a landslide because Dems, Repubs, Indies, black, white, union, non-union, men, women, gay straight all loved the hawkish, small government, low tax authentic conservatism Reagan delivered in his first term. Americans across the board embraced those founding ideals then and do so now, personal freedom, the free market, and opportunity limited only by your imagination.

And re that commitment to listen to Americans? Perhaps Jindal, Bush, McCain Romney and Barbour should take a look at the message from 1.2 million Americans who gathered on Tax Day to protest and reject liberal policies started by Bush and now being pushed through on steroids by Urkel. In introducing the Repubs new, but rather late, little gathering of the Dead Old Party’s Old Guard (and their Chosen Sorta Young with Different Complexion Guy who’s a strange combo of Howdy Doody and Mr. Rogers), the National Council for a New America wants to hear from you! I would hope you might have a few things to say to these incompetent losers.

Okay, okay! Actually, to be fair to Jeb Bush, maybe we should send Reagan into the trash heap. After all, he left us with a ruined economy and our enemy undefeated and stronger than ever. Oh, wait a minute…

My opinion of the anti-capitalist Bush Clan is justified. I voted for a Bush once! in 1988. In 04 I voted against JFK; not for W!
When W teamed up with Soros 1/05 to blast the Ronnie’s long time supporters (If you haven’t lived in Cal the last 50 years you may have a hard time understanding this. But those of us who were converted 10/64 by THE SPEECH; knew precisely why W teamed up with Soros and who he was really attacking.) The infamous “vigilante” speech which was used by the MSM to bludgeon any Reagan followers for the next 15 months.
The Bush clan has never got over the beating GHW took in the 1980 primaries from Ronnie. This was clear at Ronnie’s funeral when both Georges damed Ronnie with praise so faint it was almost invisible.

Politico is reporting that Palin has now said she will be working with the council, after some outreach from McCain and Cantor. I hope she’s wise from the campaign. It’s a real possibility they could just use her for Conservative legitimacy and to lift their profile, then toss her aside later.

They could be looking to ruin her, but it could backfire and she could win them over. Miracles happen. I looking for the silver lining here.. anyone?

  3. RobK says:

If Mitt Romney believes the same way Fat Boy Jeb Bush believes, I drop ALL support for the “Fee Man” Romney! Ass!

  4. Dave J says:

Reagan’s biggest mistake was not ditching GHW Bush as VP in 1984 for a real conservative and truly suitable successor: Jack Kemp, RIP. In 1980 it was all about securing the nomination and would’ve been too early, but four years later anything was possible.

  5. Tamala says:

Of course RINOS want real Republican Conservatives to abandon Reagan’s values and principles because their survival depends on it. Jeb’s comments along with the creation of this “Council” are insulting to me. When a few party leaders think they can manipulate the entire party into abandoning their core values to become more like the opposing party….. we have a huge problem. The GOP is nothing more than a cluster F these days. I will not be donating any money to the RNC. Instead, I am donating to Sarah Palin’s PAC. I pray she runs in 2012.

  6. storytold says:

It boggles my mind how so many Republicans feel that the Democrat party is the way to go. Or at least shaping their policies to mirror the Dems’ policies. I mean, look at what the Dems are doing to our country. Barry has launched an attack on big business and the free market,is trying to slowly nationalize our banks, forced CEO’s to step down, invited foreign auto makers to get a piece of Chrysler, threatened political opponents and so on and so forth…is that the direction that Jeb Bush feels the GOP should go? That’s nuts! To be honest,I don’t think that even the average Dem on the street realizes exactly what their party is doing to this country. If they did, they would revolt. This shows me the Bush’s true colors and I regret having voted for them.

And for those Tammy fans who are looking to Sarah Palin as the GOP’s salvation, think again. I used to support her completely and was thrilled when McCain chose her as his running mate. I was stoked at the thought of her running for president in 2012. But then I found out she had gone to Washington to hobnob with the political elites, and even stood in a loooong line just to shake the One’s hand…and she also visited with Mitch McConnell and encouraged him to vote for the stimulus package…she turned down a couple of offers from Republicans to attend their functions and give them a morale boost etc. I still like her but I’d caution anyone against pinning their hopes on Sarah Palin.

See Jeb,this is why conservatives long for the days of Reagan. None of you Republicans inspires much confidence among conservaties.

  7. piboulder says:

There are a few conservatives who have made the case that Republicans need to stick to their conservative principles and do outreach by *educating* the public about why those principles are good, not merely looking at what is and saying “adapt”. People who adapt as their main strategy are not leaders.

  8. laughingatpinheads says:

Jeb Bush, Lindsay Graham, John McShame and the rest of these major D-bags illustrate why I’m an Independent for the past six years and they can all kiss my ass.

I will never compromise and waste my vote again on one of these democrat wannabees.

  9. mrcarter says:

I really wish Sarah Palin would keep her distance from the losers.
They Lost and do not need to be heard anymore.
Besides from what I saw their only interested in hearing what They want to hear and that has been the problem.
We run this joint not them so if they want to go on a speaking tour thats fine but I wont be listening.
We all know what we want. Just give us someone that will draw a line in the sand and say follow the constitution or get out of the way.

  10. artgal says:

Hey ROBK: Fat Boy Jeb – love it! ha!

The GOP establishment are dyslexic. They have read everything from their severe losses in 2006 & 2008 to the Specter defection completely backward.

As I stated in a blog post regarding Jeb’s dumbass statements & the NCNA overall (http://smartgirlpolitics.ning.com/profiles/blogs/with-a-gop-establishment-like), these morons know when faced with Reagan’s legacy they cannot measure up whatsoever. They have no backbone & are too busy wanting an invitation to work out at the gym with upChuck Schumer. There is not one name on that list that inspires or motivates us to vote for them. The ONE name that does has been absent – that is, until late yesterday (from what I am hearing) when the NCNA probably started receiving all those emails from us.

I suggest we all contact Gov. Palin and let her know what we think of the NCNA and our concerns about her being a part of it. I understand the GOP is the only outlet we have to get conservatives in office once again. It is a matter of taking the party back. After meeting w/ state legislators in AZ and GOP officials in my county, it is clear that conservatism is very much alive locally. It was quite an eye-opener learning of the state’s dismay w/ the GOP on the national level. So if most (not all, of course) local GOP officials are fed up w/ the national players, it will have to resonate w/ the top that young conservatives are the future, and their Bush hey-day is done.

I cannot stress to you enough how important it is to get involved in your city & state’s affairs. You HAVE to! We no longer have the luxury of sitting back after a long day of work & dealing w/ our lives as normal because there is nothing at all normal about what is happening to us! The GOP establishment is trying to wrestle away the momentum & power conservatives are building up at the grassroots level because they feel threatened all the sudden! Funny they didn’t bother to read that memo in 2006 when their fat asses were plowed!

So, we’re not only fighting the oppressive Obama regime, we have a GOP establishment fighting us also! When the GOP should be concentrating on issuing threats of their own to the Dems, they say we’re the problem! Perhaps Michael Steele is leading the GOP afterall. Hey, he picked a fight w/ a radio guy who was on his side instead of trying to aid Tedisco against a Dem. The current GOP is trying to pick a fight w/ us conservatives at a time when they should be fighting like hell in the house. The only ‘tour’ they should be doing right now is educating the public about what is happening. But no! They don’t want to touch those big issues that might make them take a stand on something!

That’s ok, GOP. You can insert a sharp dangerous object in all of your orifices for all I care. You can continue to wheel out Fat Boy Jeb to appeal to the urban youth, and I’m sure w/ Mitt Romney’s sexist and disrespectful reference to Gov. Palin, he can appeal to the female voters. That’s the ticket!

If Palin is going to be a part of this, we have to have to be very involved, too, which could be a lot of fun actually. Think of how shocked those out of touch mofos were when they got those emails yesterday – ha! I know mine was not polite. But being involved does not mean we’re doing what they tell us and it also does not mean we’re giving a dime to them; it does mean, however, that we will own them eventually! Not that they will be won over, but if they think for one moment that being liked by Dems is important, just think of what it must be like garnering the wrath of millions of people who were silent until April 15.

    And we’re not going away.

    The GOP establishment is!

  11. mrfixit says:

I finally had it with the Repubs in 2005, and re-registered as “not affiliated”. Now I am investigating the Libertarian Party and I am considering signing up. They seem to be what the Republicans claim to be.

All three Bushes are what’s wrong with the Republican Party. They are CFR members all, and they walk hand in glove with the Fabian Socialists (Tony Blair being the most prominent member of the Fabian Society). They all believe in a kinder gentler collectivist society, where the masses are taken care of by the nanny state, taxes are the great equalizer, and welfare keeps the barbarians comfortably outside their gates.

They elevate the academics, public servants, professors, teachers, philosophers, doctors and nurses, and have total contempt (and envy) for the entreprenurial merchant class. They detest the “ignorant” masses, considering them nothing more than brutish peasants to mold and manipulate.

  12. CinderellaMan says:

I think many of us finally understand what Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh were trying to say when they didn’t support McCain in the primaries. And now I truly understand why Tammy Bruce hasn’t been particularly enamored with George W. Bush.

The point is, we conservatives need to stick to our convictions. That which makes us conservative to begin with, and to reject all that is not conservativism. The left has moved radically left, and we won’t gain any virtue by moving left with them.

Supply-side, trickle-down economics. Diplomatic discourse bolstered by military and strategic strength. Less government, less regulation, and more free-market dynamics. Strong national security built on a foundation of unfettered espionage and surveillance. Protection of our sovereign borders, and full federal priority towards the rule of law. Less taxation and more support for corporate and industrial America, to create the jobs we need.

The democratic party is on the verge of damaging it’s own image, and we need to maintain a safe distance from what they are doing. We know the Obama administration is repeating the mistakes of previous liberal administrations, only exponentially. The past is prologue, and those same Keynesian policies espoused by Jimmy Carter ( with similar high unemployment and hyperinflation ) failed miserably then. It will only fail Obama and America on a grander scale.

Our Saving Grace will be 2010, because regardless of the polling numbers which seem to indicate support, I believe deeply that America has finally realized their worst fears, that Barack Obama’s views and agenda are clearly intended as the socialization of our banks, our education system, healthcare, insurance, and energy industries. It’s way more than any of us bargained for.

As for the Bush family, I think Crawford, Texas will do fine now. I appreciate that he kept our country safe, but W and Paulson are equally culpable with regard to initiating massive, unprecedented government spending and growth with the first TARP monies.

  13. CNYTammyFan says:

Sorry Jeb, your toast. I was really reluctant to consider another Bush for national office but this seals it. I never want to hear the phrase Compassionate Conservative again……ever.
SP will need to swim amoung the sharks to get a real feel for which way the current is ebbing in elephant land but I hope she is as smart as I think she is and not get swallowed up by them.
Ronnie had to do it too and in the end they followed him. Once again the Conservatives and the Reagan Dems will have to team up to get the country back.

  14. PeteRFNY says:

Ugh. Seeing things like this is just…deflating.

I think when it comes to politics, the same approach that meteorologists take to hurricanes applies here: it’s gonna get a whole lot WORSE berfore it starts getting better.

  15. Non Believer says:

We don’t need a “Council for a New America”. We already have a new America thanks to Obama (with a great setup by GW Bush). What we need is a “Council for a Free America” but don’t expect that from Republicans.

Reagan was hated by the Rockefellers, the Bushes and the Romneys and just about every other blue blood Republican. They’ll never get over Reagan’s taking control of the party away from its hereditary ruling families. The Republican Party needs to die before a real pro individual liberty movement can arise.

  16. I cant understand why on 9/11 everyone blames Bush? He didn’t ask for it hell he just got in office and no he might not have been the brightest star but is Obama? I think not what is bright about an economy that is failing and a pres that insists on bigger government? Where is the logic in the trillions of dollars that he has helped put this country in debt with? Oh I forgot its George Bush’s fault B.S. its the panty wastes that dont have the guts to do things for themselves the lazy ass people who would rather get welfare than help prevent illegal immagrants from coming over here and all the idiots who think that 48 million people without health insurance cant afford it more B.S.
