Yea, as the mother of four boys I often feel the need to just disappear (especially on Mother’s
Day) to be by myself. I often just get the urge to split on Naked Bike Riding Day, Naked Snow Jogging Day and who can forget Naked Twister Day. I’m sure the Gov just wanted some alone time. I cant imagine someone making such a profound political statement solely for a view of T&A or sconch on a bike. To do so would certainly be grounds for “Assclown” of SC. If the bike seat fits……….

I’ve liked a lot of what Sanford’s said and done, but I think he pretty much just kissed any chance of higher office goodbye. You can’t be a chief executive and then just mysteriously vanish without telling anyone or leaving any means to contact you. To do so is not only dangerous, but comes across as mentally unhinged. If he wanted some time off, or felt that he legitimately was going to be incapacitated for a few days, he should’ve formally handed over authority to the Lt. Governor, and not doing so is incomprehensibly irresponsible.

It used to be when a politician became involved in a sexual scandal, all they did was just have an affair. Now we have guys like Mark Foley sending X-rated text messages to underage pages, Larry Craig tapping his foot in public restrooms, and now Mark Sanford (allegedly) going off hiking naked and disappearing off the face of the earth without telling anyone. These incidents are getting to be downright creepy and show a bizarre lack of judgment.

And why are the weirdest of these incidents happening with Republicans? You had Bill Clinton, John Edwards, and Jim McGreevey on the Democrat side, but those scandals (for the most part) seem pretty mainstream compared to the Republican stuff. Why are Republicans, who claim to be for “family values”, so blatantly doing things that negate everything they’re standing for? It’s one thing to have an affair, I understand that people can make mistakes. But to (allegedly) go out hiking on “Naked Hiking Day” reveals a deeper problem. And we don’t need to deal with stuff like that in the Republican Party – not now.

Mental health seems hardiest among us pedestrians.
When we look at Sanford, Foley, Craig, McGreevey, Eddwards, Frank, Stubbs, not to forget Wilbur Mills (Remember his affair with the “Brazilian Bombshell” stripper. “She may have been a farmer’s daughter, but she knew her ‘Ways and Means’?), Ted Kennedy’s (other son,), and his waitress sandwich games with fellow carouser, Chris Dodd, and a roster of others; we realize that brain cells, and emotional and behavioral monitors misfunction in the ether.
    Remember Caligula’s horse?

Let’s not forget Chuck Todd of NBC.

TODD: You have avoided twice spelling out consequences you’ve hinted that there would be from the international community…. Why won’t you spell out the consequences?

OBAMA: Because, Chuck, we don’t know yet how this thing is going to play out…. I answered your question, Chuck.
